Berthoud Fire Calls: August 2015

Saturday, Aug. 1

BFPD responded to Goose Hollow Lane for a medical call. BFPD assisted TVEMs with the patient. Patient was transported.

BFPD responded to the 800 block of Franklin Avenue. BFPD began patient care. When TVEMS arrived, they assumed care of the patient.

Sunday, Aug. 2

BFPD responded to a medical call for a person with breathing problems at County Road 17 and Mountain Ave. Patient was evaluated and transported.

BFPD was called to a medical in the 200 block of 2nd Street. Patient was found to be fine and breathing okay.

BFPD responded to a medical call in the 800 block of 10th Street. Patient was transported.

BFPD was called to a medical in the 600 block of W. County Road 4E for a fall. Patient was assisted back into a chair and evaluated. Patient care was assumed by TVEMS.

BFPD responded to a call in the 200 block of LCR 31. BFPD began evaluation of the patient. Patient care was handed over TVEMS and patient was transported.

Monday, August 3

BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call for breathing problems on 2nd Street. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded with TVEMS for a medical call for a patient who broke their arm on CR 8. The patient was transported.

BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call on CR 17 and Spartan Avenue. The patient was transported.

BFPD and TVEMS assisted a patient on Redwood Circle who needed assistance with a lift.

BFPD responded to a reported vehicle fire on Interstate 25 at mile marker 249. The crew found an overheated vehicle with no fire.

Tuesday, August 4

BFPD and TVEMS responded to Redwood Circle and assisted with lifting a patient.

BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call for breathing problems on Arapaho Drive. The patient was transported.

Wednesday, August 5

BFPD assisted a citizen with a fuel leak from their motorized scooter located at the post office. The crew stopped the leak and cleaned the spill, then helped move the scooter to a nearby mechanic.

BFPD responded to a medical call for a patient who had fallen on the sidewalk on LCR 8. The crew assisted the patient into his residence. Upon arrival of TVEMS the patient care was transferred to them. The patient was not transported.

Thursday, August 6

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call for breathing difficulties on Bein Street. The patient was transported.

BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call on LCR 15.

BFPD assisted a citizen on Pyramid Peak Street with faulty smoke detectors.

Friday, August 7

BFPD responded to a residential fire alarm on Gateway Park Lane. The fire crew determined that carbon monoxide levels were elevated. The home was evacuated and the crew checked all units for leaks and nothing was found. Xcel arrived on scene and checked all gas appliances and nothing was found to be leaking. It was finally determined that the exhaust from a carpet cleaning van had entered the home through the open garage door causing the elevated CO levels in the home. The home was ventilated and once levels were down to zero the family was able to return home.

BFPD responded to a two-vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 252. There was minor damage to the vehicles and no injuries were reported.

Saturday, August 8

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Highway 287 and LCR 8. A single vehicle had struck a road sign and knocked out a steel post. The single occupant of the vehicle was not injured. The vehicle sustained minor damage.

BFPD responded to a reported smoke odor investigation in the area of LCR6. The fire crew located a property with multiple people in a field doing recreational shooting. There was no fire or other emergency concerns.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call for chest pain on 5th Street. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call for a fall on Redwood Place. The fire crew assisted TVEMS with the patient and then cleared the scene.

BFPD responded to a medical call for severe abdominal pain in a patient on WCR 40 ½. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call on 7th Street. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a reported illegal burn on 2nd Street. The fire crew was unable to locate a fire in the area.

Sunday, August 9

BFPD responded to a single vehicle accident on W. LCR 10 and N. LCR 19. A small vehicle was found upright in the ditch along LCR 19. One occupant was still in the vehicle, uninjured but was intoxicated. CSP arrived and the fire crew cleared the scene.

BFPD responded to a two-vehicle accident with moderate damage on LCR 23E and LCR 4. A van was found on its top. Two occupants from the van and one from the second vehicle were injured. Two patients were transported.

BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call for electrocution on Michigan Ave. A male was cleaning out a wasps nest from an electrical meter on the side of his house and was shocked. The patient was transported.

Monday, August 10

BFPD assisted a citizen who walked into Station 1 with a wound from a dog bite. The fire crew administered first aid to the patient. TVEMS arrived and took over patient care.

Tuesday, August 11

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on 4th Street for a male who had fallen and needed assistance back into bed.

BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call on 9th Street.

BFPD assisted a citizen with changing batteries in the smoke detectors in their residence on 3rd Street.

Wednesday, August 12

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call on Franklin Avenue.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 252. There was light damage to both vehicles and no injuries were reported.

Thursday, August 13

BFPD and TVEMS responded to a patient with diabetic complications on Highway 287.

BFPD responded to a motorcycle accident at Valley Dirt Rider track. TVEMS arrived on scene and the crew assisted with transporting the injured rider.

BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call on Iowa Avenue.

Friday, August 14

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call on Springhill Lane. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded with TVEMS for a sick person on Burbank Street. The patient was transported.

Sunday, August 16

BFPD responded with LCSO to a report of a female who had been assaulted by a male on 4th and Mountain Avenue. The patient was transported.

BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call for seizures on Cottonwood Lane. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call for abdominal pain on 14th Street. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a dumpster fire between 1st Street and Welch Avenue. The fire crew found a homeowner burning sunflower stalks. The homeowner was advised of the burn policy for town limits. The fire was extinguished.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 252. There was minor damage and no injuries were reported.

BFPD responded to a report of smoke in the area SW of Carter Lake. This was a fire outside our District 8 miles west of Carter Lake.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call for seizures on 6th Street. The patient was transported.

Monday, August 17

BFPD responded to a commercial fire alarm at Berthoud Living Center. This was a false alarm.

BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call for chest pain on Welch Avenue. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a dive rescue call at the south marina at Carter Lake. The crew was notified of a capsized boat with a single patient who had reportedly suffered a near drowning event. When the rescue team arrived the boater was out of the water. The crew assessed the patient until the arrival of TVEMS who took over the patient care.

Tuesday, August 18

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call on Highway 287 for abdominal pain. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a medical call for seizures on 6th Street. The fire crew began patient care and then assisted TVEMS with transporting the patient.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 249. This was a single vehicle rollover accident. The vehicle was found on its side with major damage. Four juveniles and one adult were in the vehicle and all were found to be without injuries. The fire crew assisted the state patrol with roadway hazards and traffic control.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident in the 300 block of Mountain Ave. There were no injuries reported.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 249. This was a two-vehicle accident with minor to moderate damage to the vehicles. Two occupants sustained minor injuries.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call for a person who had fallen and injured their shoulder on Martingale Drive.

BFPD responded to a mutual aid request from Hygiene Fire for a Water Tender to respond to a structure fire on North 75th Street. Berthoud assisted Hygiene Fire with water supply.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call for breathing problems on McColm Street. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a reported structure fire on Sunshine Court. The crew found a residence with a controlled bonfire.

Wednesday, August 19

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call for an allergic reaction to an insect bite at Turner Middle School. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to Carter Lake south shore campground for a medical problem. The patient was transported.

Thursday, August 20

BFPD assisted a citizen with their faulty smoke detector on Gentlewind Way.

BFPD responded to a reported cut gas line on Meadowlark Lane. A construction crew hit a gas line with a mini-excavator. Xcel energy was notified and the fire crew blocked traffic until Xcel arrived and sealed the line.

BFPD responded to a report of a bonfire on Horseshoe Circle. The fire was an unauthorized burn. The fire crew explained the burn permit process for future burns.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call on East Iowa for an animal bite. The patient was evaluated and it was determined to not transport the patient.

Friday, August 21

BFPD responded to a single vehicle accident on I-25 at MM252. There was minor damage to the vehicle and no injuries were reported.

BFPD provided mutual aid to Loveland Fire for a residential structure fire on Lissa Drive.

Saturday, August 22

BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call for cardiac arrest on E County Road 6C. The patient was transported emergent.

BFPD responded to a reported fuel spill on 9th and Mountain Ave. Fuel was spilling from one of the gas hoses at the pump. The fire crew tightened the fitting to stop the leak, then cleaned the spill area.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call at Berthoud High football field. A male injured his leg playing football. The student was transported.

BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call at Berthoud Living Center.

Sunday, August 23

BFPD assisted a citizen with their smoke detector in their residence.

BFPD responded to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 56 and County Line Road. There was moderate damage to both vehicles and there were no injuries reported. The crew assisted with traffic control and clearing debris and fluids from the roadway.

BFPD responded to a motorcycle accident at the Carter Lake south gate entrance. A male was injured and transported.

BFPD responded to a motorcycle accident involving two people on W. LCR 12 and S. LCR 29. A male and female were injured and both were transported emergent.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on County Road 2E. Two vehicles sustained major damage and two persons were transported. The fire crew assisted CSP with clearing the roadway of debris.

BFPD responded to a report of a traffic accident on W. CR 14. The crew found a vehicle in a ditch filled with water and all the occupants out of the vehicle. There were no injuries reported.

Monday, August 24

BFPD assisted a citizen on Victoria Street with changing batteries in their smoke detectors.

Tuesday, August 25

BFPD assisted a citizen on 8th Street with their smoke detectors.

BFPD responded to a carbon monoxide detector activation on 10th Street. The crew was unable to detect any CO levels in the residence. The activation was determined to be due to expired detectors.

Wednesday, August 26

BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call at Berthoud Living Center. A patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Weld County Road 3 and 46. The crew found a single vehicle that had rolled and sustained heavy damage. There was no one in or around the vehicle. Weld County Sheriff responded and informed the crew that the injured occupants had been taken to the driver’s home and now needed medical attention.

BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call for the previous accident on Weld County Road 46. The patient had sustained minor injuries.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call for pack pain on 4th Street. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded with Berthoud Police and TVEMS for a medical call on Chaparro Circle. The patient was transported.

Thursday, August 27

BFPD responded to a single vehicle accident on Highway 287. One occupant was injured and transported.

BFPD responded to a motorcycle accident on LCR 8E. A male rider was injured. The fire crew administered medical attention until the arrival of TVEMS. The patient was transported.

Friday, August 28

BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call at Berthoud Living Center. A resident was transported.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call for a person with breathing problems on LCR 4E. The individual was transported.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 249. This was a two-vehicle accident. There were no reported injuries.

Saturday, August 29

BFPD responded to a report of a vehicle rollover on Interstate 25 at mile marker 249. The vehicle had rolled several times coming to rest on the shoulder of the southbound lane. The driver was outside the vehicle and reported no injuries.

BFPD responded with Berthoud Police and TVEMS to a medical call on 10th Street. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a report of a patient who had cut their head at the Carter Lake swim beach. The fire crew administered medical care. Upon arrival of TVEMS the patient care was transferred to them. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a reported single vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 247. A vehicle was found with minor damage. The vehicle was locked and there were no occupants at the scene.

BFPD responded with Berthoud Police to a medical call on LCR 8E. TVEMS arrived and the patient care was transferred to them. The patient was transported.
