Incident Activity August 2016

 

Monday, August 1

BFPD responded to the 400 block of Welch Avenue for a medical. TVEMS assumed patient care.

Berthoud Fire responded to Weld Cty Road 3 for a motor vehicle accident. A 19 year old female had minor lacerations to her arm. TVEMS assumed patient care. Chief 2 remained on scene until Colorado State Patrol arrived.

BFPD was dispatched to the 900 block of Schofield Road for a fast moving grass fire. Engine 2 was put on structure protection for a home on Sherman. Engine 611 and Engine 16 started water suppression, command reported fire was under control. Interviewed the homeowner who stated power flickered and TV went out. Command found deceased bird at base of power pole.

BFPD responded to the 1500 block of Holly Berry Street for a citizen assist. Met with the homeowner and she stated the fire alarm was going off about every minute and would say fire. The crew checked the house and found 2 detectors that needed batteries replaced. The batteries were replaced and the problem resolved itself.

Tuesday, August 2,

Berthoud Fire responded to the 600 block of Welch Avenue for a diabetic problem. TVEMS assumed patient care.

BFPD responded to the 400 block of Dove Lane for a fall. The crew assisted TVEMS with patient packaging.

Berthoud Fire was dispatched to the 1500 block of Sherman Drive for a medical. TVEMS assumed patient care.

Wednesday, August 3,

Berthoud Fire was dispatched to the 3000 block of Celestial Drive for a gas leak outside.  The crew found a 1 ¼” natural gas line that had been cut by an excavator. While waiting for Xcel Energy to arrive, the crew was able to clamp the line to stop the flow of gas. Xcel arrived and cleared Engine 1 from the scene.

Squad 11 was dispatched to Berthoud Living Center for a medical.

BFPD was requested by Larimer Cty Sheriff’s office to the 800 block of 9th Street for a medical. TVEMS arrived and assumed patient care.

Berthoud Fire responded to the 500 block of Redwood Circle for a 64-year-old female with chest pains.   the crew assisted TVEMS with patient packaging.

BFPD was dispatched to a grass fire on Larimer Cty Rd 17 and Bunyan Avenue.   found a 10×20 grass fire with a few small areas burning. Engine 16 pulled a line and extinguished the fire.

BPFD responded to the 1500 block of Mt. Meeker Avenue for a 6 month old female having breathing problems. TVEMS arrived and assumed patient care.

Thursday, August 4

BFPD responded to I-25 mm 250 SB for a 2 car motor vehicle accident.  All parties were out of the vehicles and there was minor damage to both vehicles. The cars had been moved from the lanes of traffic to the center median. The crew advised both parties to stay in their vehicles with their seatbelts on while awaiting Colorado State Patrol.

Berthoud Squad 11 responded to the 900 block of 5th Street for a citizen assist. The crew found that a smoke detector located on her second floor needed new batteries. The crew replaced the batteries in all of the smoke detectors.

BFPD was dispatched to the 3000 block of Celestial Drive for a ruptured gas line. Xcel Energy was notified of the problem and the line was clamped and the leak stopped. Xcel reported that this was the second time that the same company had broken the line by working in the area. After confirming with Xcel that there were no remaining hazards Berthoud Engine 1 returned to service.

BFPD responded to Larimer Cty Rd 15C for an intoxicated male who had fallen and lost consciousness. TVEMS assumed patient care.

Friday, August 5

Berthoud Fire was dispatched to the 4000 block of Malibu for a 71-year-old male who had fallen. The crew assisted TVEMS with packaging the patient for transport.

BFPD responded to Carter Lake Marina Store for a medical. The crew assisted TVEMS with packaging the patient for transport.

Sunday, August 7

Berthoud Fire responded to SW 42nd Street and S. Lincoln Avenue for a 2 car motor vehicle accident with moderate to heavy damage. TVEMS assumed patient care.

Berthoud Fire was dispatched to the 900 block of 3rd Street for a citizen assist.  The homeowner stated that all his smoke detectors were chirping and due to age he could not climb a ladder. The crew changed batteries in all smoke detectors.

BFPD responded to the 200 block of Victoria Street for a medical. TVEMS assumed patient care.

Monday, August 8

BFPD responded to the 5000 block of Cty Road 12 for a 31-year-old male having breathing problems. Upon arrival the crew assisted TVEMS with patient packaging for transport.

Tuesday, August 9

Berthoud Fire responded to the 900 block of Welch Avenue for a service call. Squad 11 assisted the homeowner with replacing batteries in 7 smoke detectors around the home. The crew checked the function of all the units and then replaced batteries.

BFPD responded to Hwy 287 for a small grass fire on the east shoulder of the Highway. The crew put out the fire and was unable to determine origin or cause. But the fire was generally consistent with a roadside fire started by discarded smoking materials or a spark from a passing vehicle.

Wednesday, August 10

BFPD responded to the 1300 block of 4th Street for a sick person. TVEMS assumed patient care.

BFPD was dispatched to the 2000 block of Pheasant Run for a sick person. The crew assisted TVEMS with packaging the patient for transport.

Berthoud Fire responded to Berthoud Living Center for a medical.

Thursday, August 11

BFPD responded to I-25 Frontage Road for a single vehicle motor vehicle accident. The driver was out of the vehicle with no injuries. Engine 1 assisted with traffic control.

Berthoud Fire responded to the 900 block of 3rd Street for a service call. Squad 11 assisted the homeowner with replacing 7 smoke alarm batteries.

Friday, August 12

BFPD responded to the 300 block of Victoria Street for a medical. The crew assisted TVEMS with patient packaging. The patient was then transported.

Squad 11 responded to the 4000 block of Glen Drive for a person with breathing problems. The crew assisted TVEMS with loading of the patient for transport.

A homeowner called into Station 1 stating her smoke detectors were beeping. Squad 11 responded to the 1100 block of Gateway Park Lane. Once all detectors batteries were changed.

Berthoud Fire responded to the 1400 block of 4th Street for a medical assist. The crew assisted TVEMS with loading of the patient for transport.

Saturday, August 13

BFPD responded to the North Shore boat ramp at Carter Lake. The crew found 2 individuals with cuts to the back of their heads. Both parties were on a tube and hit heads. The parties refused treatment.

Sunday, August 14

Berthoud Fire responded to the 1000 block of 6th Street for a female with back pain. TVEMS assumed patient care.

BFPD responded to the 900 block of Wilshire Drive for a 3-month-old who was choking. The crew met with the foster parents and the child was conscious/breathing and alert. TVEMS arrived and assumed patient care.

Berthoud Fire responded to the 200 block of 2nd Street for a sick person. Squad 11 assisted TVEMS with loading the patient into the ambulance.

Monday, August 15

BFPD responded to the 2000 block of Burbank Street for a male having chest pains. TVEMS assumed patient care.

Berthoud Fire responded to I-25 mm 248 SB for a motor vehicle vs a motorcycle. Upon arrival found 1 patient with a laceration to the left foot. Patient care was turned over to TVEMS.

BFPD had a female walk into Station 1 with an insect sting. Thompson Valley EMS was requested to respond to assist with patient. Patient was transported to local hospital for treatment.

Station 1 received a phone call from a citizen who requested assistance with her smoke detectors. Squad 11 responded to the home and assisted with replacing the batteries in the detectors.

Tuesday, August 16

BFPD responded to the 4000 block of Glen Drive for a medical. TVEMS assumed patient care. The crew assisted TVEMS with packaging the patient for transport.

A male came into Station 1 because he was feeling light headed. TVEMS assumed patient care.

Berthoud Fire responded to I-25 mm 248 for a car fire. While enroute the call changed to a grass fire. The car fire was out, but Engine 1 had a 100 by 15 foot grass fire and went in attack mode. The crew knocked down and controlled the grass fire.

Wednesday, August 17

BFPD responded to Habitat for Humanity for a male needing medical assists. TVEMS assumed patient care.

Berthoud Fire responded to a wildland fire at 399 Northview Road on Hertha Ridge. The fire burned 73 acres with no loss of structures. There were 12 slurry drops throughout the day and numerous agencies responded. The cause is still under investigation.

Thursday, August 18

Engine 1 responded with TVEMS to a report of a motor vehicle accident with injuries at I-25 mm 250. The crew assisted TVEMS with packaging of a male who had crashed a motorcycle into the center median. The patient was loaded and transported to a local hospital.

BFPD was dispatched to Berthoud Living Center for a medical.

Friday, August 19

Berthoud Fire responded to the 100 block of Welch Avenue for a female who had fallen and couldn’t move her knee. TVEMS assumed patient care.

A female walked into Station 1 stating she was having chest pains and not feeling well. TVEMS assumed patient care.

Saturday, August 20

BFPD responded to the intersection of Hwy 287 and Cty Road 17 for a 2 vehicle accident. The crew assisted TVEMS with packaging of the patients for transport. Scene was then turned over to Larimer Cty Sheriff Dept. and Colorado State Patrol.

Berthoud Fire responded to 1000 block of Larimer Cty Road 19 for a medical. The crew assisted TVEMS with packaging of the patient for transport.

Sunday, August 21

BFPD was dispatched to the 700 block of Wilfred Road for a lift assist.

BFPD responded to I-25 mm 250 SB for a single vehicle accident. There was a vehicle on the side of the road with all of the air bags deployed. Scene was turned over to Colorado State Patrol.

BFPD responded to I-25 mm 252 NB for a 2 car motor vehicle accident with light damage. The crew placed the Engine to block NB traffic in lane 2. Colorado State Patrol moved the vehicles to the next exit.

Larimer Cty Sheriff Dept requested the crew to respond to Hwy 287 to assist TVEMS with loading of a patient and to protect scene with apparatus.

BFPD was dispatched to the 800 block of Greenwood Drive for a female having lower back pain. TVEMS assumed patient care.

Monday, August 22

BFPD responded to a dwelling on Longview for a carbon monoxide detector activation. The crew found a malfunctioning detector but no signs of CO.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call on Gunn Avenue.

Tuesday, August 23

BFPD responded to a medical call on Exeter Street. The crew initiated patient care until TVEMS arrived.

BFPD responded to a medical call on Welch Ave. The crew assisted TVEMS with transporting the patient.

BFPD responded to a reported outside smoke odor investigation on Lonetree Drive. The crew searched the area but was unable to locate any fire or smoke in the area.

BFPD assisted a citizen on 5th Street.

Wednesday, August 24

BFPD responded to a two vehicle accident on Highway 287 and CR 10 E. A vehicle with mechanical difficulties was disabled in the southbound traffic lane. The crew helped with controlling traffic until a tow truck arrived on scene. The crew then returned to service leaving the scene with LCSO and CSP.

BFPD responded to a report of a grass fire in the median of I-25. A small grass fire was found, caused by a broken down vehicle on the side of the road. The fire had been extinguished by occupants of the vehicle. The crew cleaned the area.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a request for medical care for a patient in a vehicle on Interstate 25. The fire crew controlled traffic.

In route from the Interstate the fire crew was dispatched to a medical call on East Colorado for cardiac arrest. The crew assisted TVEMS with patient care. The patient was transported.

Thursday, August 25

BFPD assisted TVEMS with lifting a patient on 10th Street who had fallen. The patient was then transported.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call on Weld County Road 36. The patient was transported.

The BFPD crew assisted a citizen with their smoke detectors in a residence on Cheyenne Drive.

BFPD responded to a medical call for chest pain on Gould Road. The crew assisted TVEMS with transporting the patient.

BFPD responded to a medical call with LCSO and TVEMS on Meadowlark. The patient was transported.

Friday, August 26

BFPD responded to a residential fire alarm on South LCR 13. The crew found no signs of fire inside or outside of the structure. They did find one smoke detector that was not functioning properly. The homeowner was informed of the findings.

BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call on Redwood Place. The crew assisted with loading the patient for transport.

BFPD and TVEMS responded to a request for emergency medical care on 10th Street. The crew assisted with packaging the patient for transport.

BFPD assisted LCSO with an incident on Glacier Ave.

BFPD located a party who was burning a bonfire on S. County Road 21. The homeowner was informed of the fire ban and to extinguish the fire.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call for cardiac arrest on Bristlecone Court. The crew assisted with transporting the patient.

Saturday, August 27

BFPD and TVEMS responded to a request for emergency medical care on 4th Street. The crew assisted with patient care and then loading the patient for transport.

BFPD and TVEMS responded to Berthoud Living Center. A patient was transported.

Sunday, August 28

BFPD and TVEMS responded to a call at Berthoud Living Center.

BFPD responded to a report of a person slumped over a steering wheel in a vehicle along the roadside on LCR23. The crew found the party to be sleeping.

BFPD responded to a medical call on Pyramid Peak Street at the request of Berthoud Police.

BFPD responded to a report of a person who had fainted at Bein Park. TVEMS arrived and the patient care was transferred to them. The fire crew assisted with packaging and loading the patient for transport.

BFPD responded to a possible dive rescue at Carter Lake South shore. However, the crew found no parties injured or in the water.

Monday, August 29

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call near LCR 10E.

Tuesday, August 30

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call on LCR 29 in Loveland.

Wednesday, August 31

BFPD was dispatched to 2000 block of Hwy 56 for a female having a diabetic problem. TVEMS assumed patient care.

Berthoud Fire responded to the 700 block of Wilfred Road for a lift assist.
