Incident Reports
August 1 – 7
Monday, Aug. 1
Engine 62 responded to the 4000 block of Meining Road for a 15-year-old girl who was having a seizure. The crew assisted TVEMS with assessing vitals and obtaining a history. The patient was then packaged and loaded for transport.
Engine 62 dispatched to the intersection of Glen Drive and Maureen for a 38-year-old man who had fallen and hit his head. TVEMS arrived and assumed patient care. The crew assisted with loading of the patient into the ambulance for transport.
Berthoud Fire responded the W. Cty Road 12 area for the fire that had occurred the previous day. The fire reignited, burning about another ¼ acre and was burning down hill of the east flank. Crews used a direct attack with hose streams on the perimeter. Once the perimeter was controlled the fire was 100 percent extinguished.
Engine 61 responded to the 23000 block of Cty Road 3 to assist TVEMS for a patient transfer to a local hospital.
Tuesday, Aug. 2
Squad 61 responded to Sun River Road for a 92-year-old man who was having chest pains. TVEMS assumed patient care, and the crew assisted with packaging the patient for transport to a local hospital.
Squad 61 dispatched to the 900 block of 5th Street for a 71-year-old man having a stroke. The crew assisted TVEMS with loading of the patient for transport.
Citizens assist at Station 1 for a car seat installation on 2 different cars.
Wednesday Aug. 3
Single motor vehicle accident in the middle of 4th Street. This was a vehicle rollover with an engine compartment on fire. One female was removed, conscious and breathing. The 19-year-old female refused medical treatment and was turned over to LCSO. The vehicle fire was extinguished, and a tow company was notified.
Citizens assist to the 1000 block of 6th Street for a smoke detector battery replacement in the hallway and in the bedroom. Both detectors were tested and functional.
Engine 62 responded to Sky View campground for a man who needed medical attention. The Larimer Cty Parks Unit walked the patient to the Engine so vitals could be obtained along with history. TVEMS pulled up on scene and assumed patient care. The crew retrieved the cot and assisted the patient into the ambulance for transport.
Thursday, Aug. 4
Citizens assist in the 100 block of E. Indiana Avenue for a battery replacement in a smoke detector. All alarms tested and working properly.
Engine 61 responded to the 800 block of E. County Road 4 for a 75-year-old woman who had fallen. TVEMS assumed patient care, and the crew assisted with packaging and loading the patient for transport.
Citizens assist in the 2000 block of Elmwood Drive to change smoke detector batteries. It was just a preventative measure, no current issue with detector.
Friday, Aug. 5
BFPD responded to Biffle Court to assist LCSO and TVEMS with a medical call. After patient assessment the crew assisted with loading the patient to be transported to the hospital.
Saturday, Aug. 6
Engine 62 responded to a medical call on Talons Reach Run. The crew assisted TVEMS with assessing the patient and then loading the patient for transport.
Engine 61 assisted TVEMS with a medical for a person with breathing problems on South Iowa St. The crew assisted with loading the patient for transport.
Engine 61 responded to a two-vehicle accident on N. Highway 287 and West County Rd 8. Both vehicles sustained light damage. All parties involved refused any medical evaluations. The crew checked for hazards and provided traffic control until all vehicles were removed from the roadway.
Sunday, Aug 7
Squad 61 responded to a motorcycle accident on Interstate 25, south of MM 250. A single motorcycle was found on the side of the road with its driver sitting on the road. Care was initiated by a firefighter from LFRA. The patient was evaluated and loaded for transport.
BFPD dispatched to a residential structure fire on Southview Road near Bennet and Eagle Pass Road. The Batallion Commander sized up a medium residential structure needing full attack involvement with an outside-in fire coming from the patio on the north side of the house. The house was unoccupied, the doors were locked, and two dogs could be seen in the house. The door was kicked in and the two large dogs exited the structures. Loveland Fire Rescue Authority assisted with the fire attack. Most of the roof was burned, the ceiling collapsed and water damage from hoses and rain damaged the interior of the house, most of the structure was damaged. With the help of the rain the fire was extinguished. BFPD crews continued a fire watch throughout the night.
Aug. 8-14
Monday, Aug. 8
Engine 61 responded to the 1000 block of WCR 14 for a patient that was code black (deceased). LCSO Deputy requested a fire unit remain on scene unit another Deputy arrived.
Squad 61 responded to the 1000 block of Wagon Wheel Court for a 7-year-old who had eye problems. The crew found the boy in the bathroom washing his eyes out with water. The patient said he accidentally sprayed himself with pepper spray. The crew coached flushing the eyes and ensured no other hazards or injuries. TVEMS remained on scene to help flushing the eyes.
Tuesday, Aug. 9
Engine 62 dispatched to the 3000 block of Highplains Drive for a dog that was locked inside vehicle. The owner contacted AAA, but they said it would be a long wait. The crew was able to pop the driver’s side door pen and gain access to the vehicle. The dog was not injured or in need of attention.
Engine 62 and TVEMS were dispatched to the 1000 block of S. County Road 27E for a 43-year-old man who was passed out at the residence. TVEMS assumed patient care and refusal forms were completed.
Squad 61 responded to the 1000 block of Aspen Drive for a 39-year-old man with back pain. The crew aided in helping the patient onto the cot for transport to a local hospital.
Engine 61 dispatched to Highway 287 and LCR 4E for a 3-vehicle accident with minor to moderate damage. All vehicles were off or on the right shoulder of northbound Highway 287. The crew confirmed only one driver in each of the three vehicles. One person was evaluated by TVEMS and there were no additional hazards or fluids to mitigate.
Wednesday, Aug. 10
Engine 61 responded to the 800 block of Gentlewind Way for an 84-year-old woman with breathing problems. TVEMS assumed patient care, and the crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.
Engine 62 responded to 2300 block of Highway 287 and Berthoud Parkway for a fully engulfed pick-up truck with the driver out. LCSO had shut down both directions of Berthoud Parkway. Fire control was called quickly, and overhaul began. Once the fire was extinguished, the scene was turned over to LCSO.
Engine 61 responded to the 300 block of Hubbell Street for a CO detector going off. The crew used the gas monitor to check the entire house. No abnormal readings were found. The detectors were tested and working correctly. The property was turned back over to the homeowners.
Engine 61 dispatched to the 1000 block of Harbell Street for a medical. The crew performed Basic Life Support (BLS) under the direction of TVEMS. Resuscitation efforts were stopped, and patient was pronounced dead.
Engine 61 responded to the 500 block of Redwood Circle for an 82-year-old woman who had fallen. The crew was obtaining vitals and patient history when TVEMS arrived. The crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.
Berthoud Fire responded to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical.
Engine 61 dispatched to the 1900 block of S. Highway 287 for a vehicle vs an angus bull. The bull was deceased and there was heavy damage to the front of the car. One person was transported to a local hospital, and the crew assisted with moving the animal off the roadway.
Thursday, Aug. 11
Squad 61 and TVEMS were dispatched to the 2000 block of Elmwood Street for a patient who had fallen. TVEMS initiated patient care. The patient was transported to a local hospital.
Engine 62 dispatched to County Road 8E near the Carter Lake entrance for a motor vehicle accident. Larimer County Parks was on scene and confirmed a single motorcycle down with one person injured. The rider was packaged and loaded into the ambulance for transport.
Engine 61 responded to the 3800 block of E Highway 56 for a 32-year-old man with back pain. The patient was walked to the ambulance and loaded for transport.
Engine 61 responded to the 1100 block of W County Road 14 for a 45-year-old man who was sick. The patient was loaded into the ambulance for transport.
Engine 613 dispatched to the 500 block of Dove Lane for an unconfirmed grass fire. A small slash pile wsd being burned by the homeowner who had a hose next to the pile, and the fire was surrounded by bare dirt. The homeowner was allowed to continue the burn.
Engine 62 responded to the 1900 block of Little Acres Lane for an 81-year-old woman who had fallen and hurt her hip. The crew assisted TVEMS with packaging the patient for transport.
Friday, Aug. 12
Berthoud Fire responded to the 800 block of Gentlewind Way for a lift assist.
Citizens assist for a car seat check at Station 1.
Engine 62 responded to the intersection of N Highway 287 and Berthoud Parkway for a fuel spill. A semi on the right, northbound shoulder was leaking fuel. The crew worked to stop the leak and began to apply absorball to the ground where there was standing fuel.
BC-61 responded to the 200 block of E Highway 60 for a large animal rescue. Loveland Fire took command with BC-61 assigned rescue group supervisor for the horse rescue. The horse was sedated and moved with the large animal sked into the horse trailer. The horse was transported to CSU, and command was terminated.
Berthoud Fire dispatched to the 2000 block of E Highway 56 for a motor vehicle accident. There was a single vehicle rollover with heavy damage to the vehicle. The vehicle was on its side, the driver was trapped but conscious and breathing. TVEMS evaluated the patient while the crew worked on extrication. The patient was removed from the vehicle and loaded into the ambulance for transport to a local hospital. The scene was turned over to LCSO.
Saturday, August 13
Engine 61 responded to the 600 block of Wild Honey Drive for a 2-year-old male chocking. When the crew arrived, the airway had been cleared of the obstruction. TVEMS arrived and assumed care of the patient.
Engine 61 responded to the 100 block of Wilfred Road for a 58-year-old woman who had been stung by wasps. TVEMS assumed patient care and made the decision to transport. The crew assisted with loading the patient into the ambulance.
Engine 62 dispatched to the 4600 block of Beverly Drive for a structure fire. The property owner said that it was an unattended grill fire but, the fire was now out. The crew checked the grill and pergola involved and used a thermal imaging camera to make sure there was no extension into the home.
Engine 61 responded to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical.
Sunday, August 14
Berthoud Fire dispatched to the 2400 block of Weld County Road 46 for a haystack fire. A 50-foot-long row of stacked, large hay bales was on fire. The property owner was already using two front end loaders to remove the unburned bails from the pile. Berthoud Fire along with crews from Loveland Fire and Front Range Fire worked to extinguish the fire and any hot spots.
Engine 62 responded to the 700 block of Sage Place for a sick person. TVEMS assumed patient care. The crew assisted with loading the patient into the ambulance for transport.
Engine 62 responded to the 3800 block of E Highway 56 for a sick person. The crew obtained a baseline set of vitals and transferred care to TVEMS. The patient was walked to the cot and transported to a local hospital.
Aug. 15-21
Monday, Aug. 15
Engine 61 responded to the 1000 block of Sun River Road for an 89-year-old man who had a high fever and in was in pain. The crew assisted with loading the patient for transport to a local hospital.
Engine 61 dispatched to 850 Spartan Avenue for an injured 15-year-old boy. The crew retrieved the cot from the ambulance and loaded the patient for transport for further evaluation.
Tuesday, Aug. 16
Engine 62 responded to I-25 mm 249 NB for a 3-vehicle accident with one person being transported. No hazards to be addressed. The crew remained on scene for Colorado State Patrol. Vehicles were towed and cleared from the interstate.
Engine 61 responded to the 700 block of Gateway Park Lane for a 40-year-old woman who had a broken ankle. She was loaded into the ambulance and transported.
Wednesday, Aug. 17
Engine 61 dispatched to the 3000 block of Lissa Drive for an 86-year-old woman with breathing problems. TVEMS had already arrived and was assessing the patient. The crew assisted with packaging the patient for transport to a local hospital.
Berthoud Fire responded to a 21-year-old woman who was not feeling well being attended to by LCSO in the 900 block of 10th Street. The crew assisted with getting vitals and turned care over to TVEMS.
Thursday, Aug. 18
Berthoud Fire responded to the 1000 block of Chokeberry Street for a 76-year-old man with discomfort in his chest. TVEMS took over patient assessment with the crew assisting with vitals. The patient was packaged for transport to a local hospital.
Citizens assist in the 900 block of Gabriella Lane to replace batteries in a smoke detector that was chirping.
Berthoud Fire responded to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical.
Citizens assist in the 500 block of Mayo Court to have their smoke detector batteries changed. The crew replaced all 9 batteries in the smoke detectors and tested the system, which was working appropriately.
Engine 61 responded to the 200 block of 2nd Street for a deck railing that was on fire from an electric pellet grill. The homeowner had extinguished all fire by the time the Engine arrived, only smoldering hot spots remained. The crew remained until everything had been extinguished.
Engine 61 dispatched to the 1000 block of 6th Street for an indoor odor investigation. Once inside the crew found a smokey haze. The resident showed them a glowing electrical outlet with a fan still plugged into the outlet. The crew shut down power to the electrical circuit, unplugged the fan, and unwired the half burnt electrical outlet. The area was left to cool until the meter read less than 100 degrees Fahrenheit, and the wall was cool to touch. The breaker for the circuit was taped off. The residents were advised to contact property management and an electrician and not to use the circuit.
Friday, Aug. 19
Engine 61 dispatched to the 200 block of 10th Street for a 74-year-old woman in pain. The crew assisted with packaging the patient for transport to a local hospital.
Berthoud Fire responded to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical.
Engine 61 responded to the 800 block of Humboldt Peak Lane for chest pains. TVEMS assumed patient care. The patient was loaded into the ambulance for transport to a local hospital.

Saturday, August 20
Squad 61 responded to the 700 block of 4th Street for a medical. TVEMS assumed patient care. The crew assisted the patient to the cot where he was packaged and loaded for transport.
Sunday, August 21
A citizen assist in the 3000 block of Center Ridge Drive to change a battery in a smoke detector located on a high ceiling.
Berthoud Fire dispatched to I-25 for a four-vehicle accident. There were no injuries. All vehicles were towed, and scene turned over to Colorado State Patrol.
Engine 61 responded to the 3300 block of Auklet Drive for a medical. TVEMS initiated patient care. The crew assisted with loading the patient into the ambulance for transport to a local hospital.
Berthoud Fire dispatched to the intersection of N Berthoud Parkway and Grand Market Avenue for a two-vehicle accident. One occupant reported an injury and was transported by TVEMS. The crew remained on scene until cleared by LCSO.
Aug. 22-28
Monday, Aug. 22
Engine 62 responded to the 5000 block of Soaring Peaks Drive for a 71-year-old man with back pain. TVEMS assumed patient care, the crew assisted with loading the patient for transport.
Engine 61 dispatched to Hwy 287 and Larimer County Road 6 for a 2-vehicle accident with moderate damage. The driver was the only occupant in each vehicle, and no injuries were reported. The crew swept up some debris off roadway and stood by until Colorado State Patrol cleared them.
Tuesday, Aug. 23
Engine 61 responded to the 500 block of Mt. Rainier Street for a 60-year-old man not feeling well. TVEMS assumed patient care, the crew retrieved the cot from the ambulance and the patient was loaded for transport.
Berthoud Fire responded to a medical call at the Berthoud Living Center.
Engine 62 responded to the 2000 block of Lake Hollow Road for a 90-year-man who had fallen, complaining of arm pain and was unable to get up. The crew assisted TVEMS with the physical assessment and the patient was loaded into the ambulance and transported to a hospital.

Wednesday, Aug. 24
Engine 61 dispatched to the 300 block of E. Michigan Avenue for a residential fire alarm. The crew met the homeowner inside the residence at which time, the alarm was no longer going off. No smoke or fire was found. All smoke detectors and CO detector batteries were replaced, and the system was reset and tested. Homeowner was advised to call 911 if the alarms activated again or if she had any concerns.
Engine 61 responded to the 1000 block of Skimmer Street for a 60-year-old man feeling sick. The patient was loaded into the ambulance and transported to a local hospital.
Citizens assist to the 700 block of 13th Street for chirping detectors. The crew changed all batteries in all smoke detectors, reset and tested the system. The homeowner was advised to call 911 if the problem persisted.
Engine 61 responded to the 1000 block of Gabriella Lane for a 90-year-old man who needed a lift assist.
Engine 61 dispatched to 8th Street and Mountain Avenue for a 3-vehicle accident with light damage. The paramedics did not transport any people. The crew mitigated leaking fluids with Absorb All.
Engine 61 responded to the 3000 block of N. Berthoud Parkway for a single vehicle rollover. The vehicle was on its side and the driver was transported. Scene was turned over to the Larimer County Sheriff’s office.
Thursday, August 25
Engines 61 and 62 were dispatched to Schrage Way and E. County Road 14 to assist Loveland Fire with a vehicle accident with extrication. The crew found that a rapid extrication had been made and were administering patient care. Engine 61 aided with CPR on the patient until TVEMS arrived on scene. The crew assisted with loading the patient for emergency transport.
BFPD crew members assisted a citizen at Station 1 with a car seat installation.
Berthoud Fire and TVEMS responded to Berthoud Living Center for a medical transport.
Engine 61 responded to a single vehicle accident off Berthoud Parkway and Urban Place. The accident appeared to be a rollover with minor damage to the vehicle. The driver, the only occupant, refused medical care.
Friday, August 26
Engine 62 responded to a medical call on Parrish Road. The crew handled the patient care until arrival of TVEMS. The patient was transported for further evaluation.
Engine 61 and TVEMS responded to a medical call for fainting on Meadowlark Drive. The crew assisted with loading the patient to be transported to the hospital.
Saturday, August 27
Engine 61 and TVEMS responded to a medical call for hemorrhaging. The crew assisted with patient care.
Engine 61 and TVEMS responded to a female with breathing problems in her vehicle near the intersection of Hwy 56 and Hangis Court. TVEMS assumed patient care, and the crew remained on scene for traffic control.
BFPD responded to an odor investigation on N. County Road 23 near John Galt Dr and Getaway Drive. The crew investigated the area and found a small gas leak on the southwest corner of LCR 23 and Getaway Drive. Xcel Energy was notified and arrived on scene.
Engine 62 dispatched a second time to County Road 23 and County Road 10. The crew found that Xcel Energy had not repaired a gas leak that was found earlier in the day. Xcel Energy and Loveland Dispatch was informed that Xcel Energy was aware of the leak and the odor of natural gas would remain in the area until Xcel repaired the leak. This was not hazardous to the environment, so the crew cleared the scene.
Engine 62 dispatched to a CO Alarm in the 3100 block of Kyle Circle. The crew investigated the residence and found no signs of a hazardous environment. The batteries were replaced in all the detectors and one faulty detector was found. The detector was removed from the alarm system which then returned to normal operation. The residents were advised to replace the malfunctioning detector.
Sunday, August 28
Squad 61 assisted TVEMS with a medical call in the 900 block of Franklin Ave. The patient was transported.
BFPD responded to a vehicle fire on Interstate 25 at mile marker 249 southbound. Mountain View Fire was on scene, Berthoud blocked the roadway for scene safety.
Engine 61 responded to a medical call on Weld County Road 3. The patient care was transferred to TVEMS, and the crew helped prepare the patient to be transported to the hospital.
Engine 61 responded to a Carbon Monoxide alarm on Redwood Circle. A few feet inside the house there was a presence of CO, and the crew immediately had all occupants evacuate the home. The crew investigated and determined the source of the CO was from the tankless water heater. The gas supply was shut off and Xcel Energy arrived and cleared BFPD from the scene.
Squad 62 dispatched for a medical for breathing problems on Johns Place. TVEMS arrived on scene, and the crew assisted with loading the patient to be transported.
Engine 62 responded to the gas leak on Larimer County Road 23 and Getaway Drive. The crew contacted Xcel Energy and remained until they responded. BFPD was informed by Xcel that the gas leak was not an emergency and that they would get it repaired as soon as possible.
BFPD responded to a reported porch fire on Burbank Street. The crew found a single-story residential house with the fence and other material on fire. A LCSO deputy and a neighbor were applying water on the fire with garden hoses. The crew extinguished and overhauled the area. The scene was turned over to LCSO.
Squad 62 and TVEMS responded to a medical call on Gary Drive. The crew assisted with loading the patient for transport.
Squad 61 assisted LCSO with a medical call on West Larimer County Road 14.
Aug. 29-Sept. 4
Monday, Aug. 29
Engine 61 responded to Hwy 287 NB shoulder for a woman with breathing problems. TVEMS assumed care. The crew loaded the patient into the ambulance and TVEMS continued to evaluate the patient. LCSO arrived on scene and remained on scene blocking traffic for TVEMS.
Engine 61 dispatched to the 3000 block of Woodcock Street along with TVEMS for a 65-year-old woman with chest pain. The crew brought the cot to the front door and helped with loading of the patient for transport.
Tuesday, Aug. 30
Berthoud Fire responded to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical.
Squad 61 dispatched to the 500 block of S. 5th Street for a 43-year-old man not feeling well. A patient history was taken along with vitals, which were normal. TVEMS arrived on scene and a patient handoff occurred. The patient said he was feeling better and did not want to be transferred the hospital.
Citizens assist at Station 1 for a car seat installation.
Wednesday, Aug. 31
Engine 61 responded to the 300 block of S. Iowa Avenue for a woman who needed to be transported to a local hospital. The crew assisted patient to the cot and prepared for transport.
Engine 62 dispatched to the 9000 block of Yellowstone Road for a woman who needed to be transported to a local hospital. The crew helped TVEMS move the patient to the cot and into the ambulance for transport.
E-62 arrived on scene at the intersection of Berthoud Parkway and Hwy 287 for a 4-vehicle accident with moderate damage. One person was transported by TVEMS, and the crew stood by and waited until LCSO completed their investigation before they began cleanup.
Engine 61 responded to the 3000 block of S. County Road 11 for smoke alarm batteries that needed changing.
Engine 61 dispatched to the 2000 block of Tallgrass Lane for an 83-year-old woman who fainted. They found the patient sitting on the floor slumped into a chair. TVEMS arrived and took over patient care. The crew prepared the cot and assisted with loading into the ambulance.
Thursday, Sept. 1
Citizens assist in the 500 block of Kansas Avenue for a woman who needed a ring removed. Engine 61 removed the ring with a rotary tool.
Engine 61 responded to the 2000 block of Nicholson Street for a 60-year-old man who had fallen and was bleeding from the head. The crew arrived and found TVEMS already on scene providing care. The patient was packaged for transport to a local hospital.
Engine 61 dispatched to Wrangler Way for an unconfirmed wildland fire. Engine 61 and 616 searched the area to locate a source and neither apparatus could find evidence of anything burning.
Engine 61 dispatched to Westport Ave for a Carbon Monoxide (CO) alarm activation. The crew searched the facility and found no abnormal readings on the gas detectors. Since no hazardous conditions were found, Engine 61 cleared the scene.
Friday, Sept. 2
Squad 62 responded to a medical call on Lake Hollow Road. The crew obtained vitals and patient history. When TVEMS arrived, the crew assisted with preparing the patient to be transported.
Saturday, Sept 3
Berthoud Fire responded to a medical call on Likens Drive. The crews assumed patient care until the arrival of TVEMS.
Engine 61 responded to a CO detector activation on Rubinette Lane. The crew found no elevated levels of CO. The batteries were then replaced in all the detectors in the residence and the system was reset.
Squad 61 responded to South Iowa for a medical call for seizures. TVEMS arrived and established patient contact. The crew helped with moving the patient to the cot to be transported.
Squad 62 responded to a medical emergency on Blue Mountain Ave. The crew assumed patient care until arrival of TVEMS. The crew assisted with preparing the patient to be transported and then cleared the scene.
Engine 61 responded to a single vehicle accident on Interstate 25, exit 250. With no hazards found from the vehicles and no injuries, Colorado State Patrol cleared the crew from the scene.
Engine 61 responded to a medical call on Diamondback Drive. Patient care was transferred to TVEMS.
Engine 61 responded to a single vehicle rollover with one person ejected on Weld County Road 1. The crew and TVEMS made patient contact. The patient was loaded into the ambulance to be transported to the hospital for further evaluation.
Sunday, Sept 4
Engine 61 responded to a medical at Loves Travel Center. A woman was sitting on a motorcycle at the fuel pump complaining of feeling faint. TVEMS arrived and the crew assisted with loading the patient to be transported for further evaluation.
Engine 61 and TVEMS responded to 4th St. for person who had a fishhook stuck in their foot. The patient requested to pull the hook out himself. Wire cutters were used to remove the fishhook.
