Incident Report

February 1 – 6

Tuesday, Feb. 1

Engine 62 dispatched to the 2000 block of S. Cty Road 21 for a 76-year-old woman who fell a couple of days ago and was now unable to get up and move around. The patient was assessed and packaged for transport.

Squad 61 responded to the Love’s Travel Stop for a 53-year-old man with abdominal pain. Patient care was transferred to TVEMS at which time the patient was walked to the ambulance.

Wednesday, Feb. 2

Walk-in medical assist at Station 1 for patient having difficulty breathing. TVEMS was requested, and the crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

Berthoud Fire dispatched to the 2000 block of Blue Mountain Avenue for an 81-year-old man with breathing problems. The patient was loaded into the ambulance for transport to a local hospital.

Engine 61 responded to I-25 mm 248 NB for a 4-vehicle accident, one with moderate damage. One patient was transported. All lanes were reopened after the vehicles were towed.

Berthoud Fire assisted TVEMS in the 2000 block of Barela Drive by clearing the driveway and patio of snow to safely get a patient loaded into the ambulance.

Squad 61 responded to the 200 block of 10th Street for a 78-year-old male who had lower back pain and needed to be transported. The crew assisted with loading of the patient into the ambulance.

Engine 61 responded to the 600 block of Welch Avenue for a 39-year-old female with breathing problems. The crew aided TVEMS with packaging the patient for transport to a local hospital.

Thursday, Feb. 3

Engine 61 responded to the 100 block of Sunset Court for a pile of wood smoldering. The burn pile was approximately 10” diameter and unattended. The deputy was unable to locate the property owners. The crew applied 750 gallons of water onto the fire and got main pockets of heat cooled. The LCSO deputy on scene stated he would return later to check on the scene and contact the property owners.

Friday, Feb. 4

Squad 61 responded to the 20000 Weld Cty Road 3 for a 44-year-old man having a seizure. TVEMS arrived and took over patient care. The crew helped with loading of the patient for transport.

Engine 61 dispatched to the Love’s Travel Stop to assist with a water leak outside of the building. There was visible water spraying from a mechanical room on west side of building. A malfunctioning back-flow check valve was found. The crew closed the main water shut off valve and was able to stop the leak. The crew got in touch with the business representative and told them the water was shut off, and a plumber would be contacted.

Squad 61 dispatched to the 800 block of Prairiestar Drive for a 35-year-old woman who had fallen. TVEMS assumed patient care while the crew obtained a blood pressure. The patient was loaded into the ambulance for transport to an area hospital.

Engine 62 dispatched to the 2800 block of W County Road 6 for a cardiac arrest. The crew began performing CPR. TVEMS arrived, and patient care was transferred. The scene was then turned over to LCSO.

Squad 61 responded to the 300 block of Bein Street for a 36-year-old woman with leg pain. TVEMS assumed patient care.

Saturday, February 5

Squad 61 dispatched to the 3400 block of Woodcock Street for an assault. The crew assessed the wound and transferred patient care to TVEMS upon their arrival. The patient was walked to the ambulance.

Berthoud Fire dispatched to the intersection of Weld County Road 7 and Highway 56 for a two-vehicle accident. Squad 61 was assigned patient care, and Engine 61 blocked the east bound lane of Highway 56 and checked for hazards. Patients were assessed and refused transport. LCSO began their investigation. Once complete, the crew cleared the roadway of debris and then cleared the scene.

Squad 61 dispatched to the 1500 block of 4th Street for a 35-year-old woman with breathing problems. TVEMS assumed patient care.

Station 1 received a walk-in citizen assist for a person requesting help removing an earring that was stuck on her left ear.

Squad 61 dispatched to the 300 block of E Michigan for a sick person. TVEMS assumed patient care. The crew assisted with loading the into the ambulance for transport.

Squad 61 responded to the 200 block of W County Road 10E for a medical on a 62-year-old male. The crew staged in front of the residence. TVEMS entered the residence, determined they did not need assistance, and cleared Squad 61 from the scene.

Sunday, February 6

Engine 61 dispatched to the 800 block of Canyonlands for a one-year-old who was choking. When the crew arrived, the child was no longer in distress or choking. The crew examined the child’s mouth and found no obstruction. Patient care was transferred to TVEMS.

Feb. 7-13

Monday, Feb. 7

Engine 61 responded to the 1000 block of Wagon Wheel Court for an 84-year-old woman with breathing problems. TVEMS handled all patient care, and the crew assisted with packaging the patient for transport.

Engine 61 dispatched to the 800 block of Longview Avenue for a 79-year-old man having breathing problems. TVEMS assumed patient care, and the crew retrieved the cot and loaded the patient into the ambulance for transport.

Water Rescue 62 dispatched to assist LFRA with an ice rescue in Loveland. Notes indicated a dog was in the water and another dog on the ice at 700 block of Madrone Drive. LFRA units got on scene, established command, and commenced a successful surface ice rescue of the dogs. Berthoud Fire was assigned to staging. Once the dogs were clear of the ice, command cleared all Berthoud units.

Engine 61 responded to the 2000 block of Nigh Sky Drive for a 66-year-old woman who wasn’t feeling well. TVEMS assumed patient care, and the crew assisted with loading of the patient into the ambulance for transport to a local hospital.

Tuesday, Feb. 8

Berthoud Fire responded to the 500 block of Wagon Bend Road for a 10-year-old girl who had crashed on a dirt bike. They found a young girl with scrapes and cuts to her face. Command was transferred to TVEMS at which time the patient’s father arrived on scene, and the patient was transported.

Squad 61 dispatched to the 1000 block of Aspen Drive for an 11-year-old boy not feeling well. TVEMS assumed patient care.

Wednesday, Feb. 9

Berthoud Fire responded to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical.

Thursday, Feb. 10

Engine 62 dispatched to 5000 block of Beverly Drive for a 71-year-old woman with chest pains. The patient was packaged for transport to a local hospital

Engine 62 responded to the 200 block of Gunn Avenue for a 4-year-old boy having difficulty breathing. The crew did a stand- by while TVEMS completed assessment. The patient was not transported, and Engine 62 was cleared.

Friday, Feb. 11

Berthoud Fire dispatched to the 2000 block of Weld Cty Road 42 for an 86-year-old woman who had fallen. The crew assisted TVEMS with packaging the patient for transport.

Engine 62 responded to the 4000 block of W. Larimer Cty Road 4 for a 76-year-old woman who was not feeling well. The crew was obtaining patient history and vitals when TVEMS arrived. The patient was loaded into the ambulance for transport to a local hospital.

Berthoud Fire responded to I-25 SB for a mutual aid call with Front Range Fire Protection District for a 3-vehicle accident. Engine 61 was asked to help clean up debris while the Battalion Chief blocked traffic.

Engine 61 dispatched to the 800 block of 9th Street to aid law enforcement with a 1½-year-old child who had locked themselves into the residence. The crews tried to obtain access through another means while the mother stayed in contact with the child through a window. An individual with a key arrived on scene and unlocked the door, and the child was reunited with her mother.

Squad 61 responded to the 300 block of S County Road 13 for a 90-year-old woman who had fallen. The patient was assessed and loaded into the ambulance for transport to a local hospital.

Saturday, February 12

Squad 61 dispatched to the 300 block of Capitol Reef Street for a 25-year-old woman having chest pains and difficulty breathing. The crew began patient evaluation. TVEMS arrived and assumed patient care.

Squad 61 dispatched to the 200 block of 49th Street for a 60-year-old woman who was not feeling well. TVEMS assumed patient care while the crew assisted. The patient was loaded into the ambulance for transport.

Sunday, February 13

Squad 61 dispatched to the 100 block of S 8th Street for a 41-year-old man with chest pains. TVEMS assumed patient care.

Squad 61 responded to the 300 block of E Nebraska for a 61-year-old man with eye problems. TVEMS assumed patient care. After an assessment, the patient declined transport.

Feb. 14-20

Monday, Feb. 14

Squad 61 responded to I-25 mm 252 NB lanes for a motor vehicle accident. Two pick-up trucks were involved in a rear end style accident with minor damage, no hazards, or fluids. The vehicles were parked on the SB off ramp, with one person filling out refusal forms. Berthoud Fire cleared scene.

Engine 61 dispatched to Turner Middle School for a 13-year-old girl having an asthma attack. TVEMS arrived on scene, assumed patient care, and released Engine 61 from scene.

Tuesday, Feb. 15

Squad 62 responded to the 1000 block of 1st Street for a 63-year-old man with abdominal pain. The crew assisted with walking the patient out to the ambulance for transport to a local hospital.

Wednesday, Feb. 16

Squad 61 responded to the 700 block of Welch Avenue for a 77-year-old man who had dropped a knife on his foot. TVEMS arrived, assumed patient care. The patient was not transported by ambulance.

Squad 61 dispatched along with TVEMS to the 500 block of Kansas Avenue for a 76-year-old woman with heart problems. TVEMS assumed patient care.

Thursday, Feb. 17

Squad 61 responded to the 200 block of 2nd Street for a 42-year-old man who had lacerated his finger. The patient was evaluated and bandaged but refused transport to the hospital.

Engine 62 dispatched to the 700 block of Mt. Massive Street for a carbon monoxide (CO) alarm going off. The main level of house was checked with the air monitoring equipment, finding all normal readings. The basement was checked and located a chirping combination CO/smoke detector. The battery was replaced and dust blown from the detector. The detector continued to beep, and homeowner was advised of the faulty detector. The crew confirmed the rest of the alarm system was in normal operation and turned the property back over to homeowner.

Squad 62 responded to the 3200 block of Meining Road for a 75-year-old woman who had fallen. The crew assisted the patient off the floor and onto the couch. The patient reported no injuries. TVEMS arrived, assumed patient care.

Squad 61 dispatched to the 200 block of 2nd Street for a medical on an 86-year-old man. The crew assisted TVEMS with patient evaluation. The patient was loaded onto a cot and into the ambulance for transport to a local hospital.

Squad 62 responded to the 5100 block of Beverly Drive for a 59-year-old man who had fallen. The patient was assessed, loaded onto a cot, and transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.

Friday, February 18

Saturday, February 19

Engine 61 dispatched to I-25 mm252 NB for a single motor vehicle accident with Johnstown PD on scene. The driver was checked for injuries by TVEMS and reported none. No vehicle hazards were found. The scene was turned over to Johnstown PD.

Engine 62 responded to the 5000 block of Gary Drive for fire alarms going off. The crew checked the home and observed no signs of fire. The detectors were blown out with compressed air and reset.

Squad 61 dispatched to the 800 block of 10th street for a 67-year-old man having a seizure. The patient was evaluated, loaded onto a cot and into the ambulance for transport to a local hospital.

Engine 61 dispatched to the 600 block of Buehler Acres for a CO alarm. The crew found an alarm going off in the south garage of the home. The garage was checked and found elevated levels of CO inside. The crew checked the rest of the residence and no other elevated levels were found. After talking with the homeowner, a truck had been warmed up in the garage prior to the alarm going off. The garage was opened and aired out and checked again; no elevated levels were found. The home was turned back over to the homeowner.

Engine 62 responded to the 3400 block of S County Road 23 for a 90-year-old man with abdominal pains. The crew assisted TVEMS with patient assessment and packaging the patient for transport.

Engine 61 responded to the 800 block of Douglas Place for a sick person. TVEMS assumed patient care. The patient did not require further medical care, and TVEMS cleared Engine 61 from the scene.

Squad 62 dispatched to the 500 block of West Hill Drive for a patient who had fallen. The crew began assessment and transferred care to TVEMS. The patient was loaded into the ambulance for transport.

Sunday, February 20

Engine 61 responded to the 400 block of Grand Market Avenue for a medical. The patient was unconscious on the floor with TVEMS. The crew assisted with loading of the patient onto a cot and into the ambulance for transport.

Engine 61 dispatched to I-25 mm250 NB for a motor vehicle accident. They found a single vehicle with heavy front-end damage. The driver was checked for injuries and loaded into the ambulance for transport.

Squad 61 responded to the 1300 block of Tipton Street for a law enforcement request for medical assistance. TVEMS assumed patient care. No further assistance was needed.

Squad 61 dispatched to the 200 block of 2nd Street for breathing problems. The crew assessed the patient and transferred care to TVEMS. The patient was loaded for transport to a local hospital.

 

Feb. 21 – 28

Monday, Feb. 21

Squad 61 responded to the 1000 block of 7th Street for a medical issue with a 14-year-old girl. TVEMS arrived and assumed patient care. The crew assisted with packaging the patient for transport.

A citizen came into Station 1 for a car seat installation.

Squad 61 dispatched along with TVEMS to the 200 block of 2nd Street for a 60-year-old woman having abdominal pain. The patient walked to the ambulance at which time the crew helped with packaging the patient for transport.

Tuesday, Feb. 22

Engine 61 responded to the 300 block of 42nd Street SW for a broken water pipe. The crew located the water shut off valve under the trailer. Approximately 1” of standing water was removed from the bathroom. The homeowner was informed to contact a plumber to fix the broken water pipe.

Wednesday, Feb. 23

Berthoud Fire responded to the 1000 block of Sun River Road for a 9-year-old girl having a seizure. The patient laying supine on a couch being attended to by her mother. The crew assisted TVEMS with gathering equipment and loading the patient into the ambulance.

BC 61 found a 2-vehicle accident with light damage to both vehicles in the 2000 block of Hwy 287. Both vehicles were checked for hazards, and no injuries were reported by either party. Colorado State Patrol was on accident alert, so drivers exchanged information, and both decided to drive vehicles home and file reports.

Squad 61 responded to the 100 block of Iowa Avenue for a 73-year-old man that had fallen down the stairs. TVEMS and the crew loaded the patient into the ambulance to be transported to a local hospital.

Squad 61 dispatched to the 1000 block of W. Cty Road 14 for a sick person. TVEMS assumed patient care, and the crew assisted with packaging the patient for transport to a local hospital.

Squad 61 responded to the 1000 block of Mount Meeker Avenue for a CO detector chirping.  The house had two CO detectors that needed to be replaced. The crew advised the homeowner to get new ones. Squad 61 turned the home back over to the homeowner.

Berthoud Fire responded to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical.

Thursday, Feb. 24

Squad 61 dispatched to the 800 block of Longview Avenue for a 79-year-old man with breathing problems. The crew obtained patient history and a medication list. TVEMS assumed patient care, and the patient was loaded into the ambulance for transport to a local hospital.

Engine 61 and TVEMS dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on I-25 NB involving a rollover with one occupant unable to exit the vehicle due to the vehicle being on its side. The crew found 3-car rear end style accident with moderate damage. The crew began speaking and coaching the occupant to self-extricate from the vehicle. The patient was evaluated by TVEMS and denied any medical/transportation by them. All vehicles were taken to Loves Travel Center per Colorado State Patrol. Once all vehicles were removed from I-25, Berthoud units cleared scene.

Call in to station 1 for a mother who locked her kids inside of her vehicle in the 100 block of Hummingbirds Place with the car running in the driveway. The crew using the lock out kit and was able to gain access to the vehicle through the passenger front door. The car keys were given to the owner of the vehicle.

Engine 61 dispatched to the 1200 block of Highway 287 for a motor vehicle accident. The crew assessed the driver who reported no injuries. The scene was turned over to Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.

Friday, February 25

Squad 61 dispatched to the 700 block of 7th Street for breathing problems. The patient needed assistance with her oxygen condenser and tubing. The patient’s oxygen levels rose, and she refused further evaluation.

Saturday, February 26

Squad 62 dispatched to the 3400 block of Erving Court for a 65-year-old woman having a seizure. By the time the crew arrived, the patient was no longer having seizures. She was evaluated and packaged for transport to a local hospital.

Squad 62 responded to the 5400 block of Gary Drive for a person who had fallen causing a medium laceration, and TVEMS handled patient care. The crew assisted with loading the patient onto a cot and into the ambulance for transport to a local hospital.

Berthoud Fire dispatched to the area of Highway 56 and Weld County Road 7 for a motor vehicle accident. A single vehicle was off the road with minor damage. The driver was assessed and transported to a local hospital. The scene was turned over to LCSO.

Sunday, February 27

Berthoud Fire dispatched to the 300 block of Canyonlands Street for an unconfirmed residential structure fire. On scene, the crew saw a flicking flame visible through a first-floor window. LCSO arrived and opened a construction gate for access. Once the crew got a visual, it was confirmed to be a propane heater on inside and contained. It was used for drywall work to prevent freezing. With no hazard present, the crew cleared the scene.

Engine 62 dispatched to the 3900 block of Nations Way for a patient having a seizure. The patient had stopped having the episodes by the time the crew arrived. The crew began evaluating the patient and transferred care to TVEMS. The patient refused transport by ambulance.

Monday, Feb. 28

Berthoud Fire responded to the intersection of Weld Cty Road 7 and E. Hwy 56 for a 3-vehicle accident . Two vehicles had been involved in a rear-end style accident with moderate damage. TVEMS assumed patient care, and LCSO ran traffic control and scene investigation. The crew assisted with traffic and scene clean up. One patient was transported to a local hospital with non-life threating injuries.

Engine 61 dispatched to the intersection of Berthoud Parkway and Lake Avenue for a 3-vehicle accident with injuries. This was a rear-end style accident with minor damage in the northbound lanes of Berthoud Parkway. The crew assisted with the loading of a patient into the ambulance for transport. Once hazards were cleaned up and car cleared from roadway, LCSO cleared Engine 61 from scene.
