Incident Activity July 2015
Thursday, July 2
BFPD responded to a dive rescue call at Carter Lake for a report of a sinking boat. The crew located the site of a female and her son who were on the water when the wind picked up and nearly swamped the boat. Everyone was accounted for upon arrival. The fire crew assisted with emptying the boat and tying it to shore.
BFPD responded to a single vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 249. There were no injuries reported. The crew assessed for hazards, and removed oil and debris from the roadway.
Friday, July 3
BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on E. Highway 60. A single vehicle had rolled and sustained moderate damage. The vehicle was found unoccupied, the driver had apparently left the scene. The crew searched the area to be sure the driver had not ejected. Nothing was found and the crew then cleared the scene.
BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call for a sick person on Sioux Drive. The patient was transported.
BFPD and TVEMS assisted with a transport at Berthoud Living Center.
BFPD responded to a dive rescue call on Lonetree Reservoir. The crew was informed of a kayak that was reported lost on the lake. The crew launched their boat and began searching the lake for the kayak. Two females and a dog were found in a kayak and explained they were tired and lost. The dive rescue team led the kayak to shore and assisted with their kayak. The crew remained on the scene until the kayakers were picked up by friends.
BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call on Iowa Street.
Saturday, July 4
BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call for a fall victim on CR 2. The patient had sustained several lacerations to the head. The patient was transported.
BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call for diabetic problems on 10th St. The patient was transported.
BFPD responded to a report of a possible grass fire near WCR 40 and WCR3. The fire crew found a small slow moving grassfire along the ditch line. The crew extinguished the fire.
BFPD assisted Loveland Fire by covering Station 3 while Loveland worked a structure fire.
Sunday, July 5
BFPD responded to a Berthoud Police request for a medical assist in the area of 10th Street and Sioux Drive. A female was found lying on the side of 10th Street, conscious but not alert. The patient was transported.
BFPD responded to a medical call at Valley Dirt Rider track for a person having seizures. The patient was transported.
BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call for a resident with breathing problems at Berthoud Living Center. The patient was transported.
BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call for a person with chest pain on Luvesta Court. The patient was transported.
BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call on Karen Court. The patient was transported.
BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call on Weld County Road 46. The patient was transported.
Monday, July 6
BFPD responded with TVEMS to the Berthoud Living Center. A patient was transported.
BFPD assisted TVEMS with a resident who had fallen on Nebraska Ave. The patient was transported.
Thursday, July 9
BFPD responded to a report of a commercial propane explosion on WCR 7. The fire crew found a person lying between an RV and a char kettle that had obvious damage from an explosion. The individual was being attending to by two bystanders. The fire crew assisted TVEMS with transporting the patient. The scene was turned over to the fire investigator.
Friday, July 10
BFPD responded to a commercial fire alarm on 1st Street. This was a false alarm.
BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 250. There was minor damage to the vehicles and there were no injuries reported.
BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on the eastbound lane of Highway 287 and N LCR 17. A two-vehicle rear end type accident had occurred. One vehicle had 2 injured passengers. One person was transported. The fire crew cleared the roadway.
BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call at Berthoud Living Center. The patient was transported.
Saturday, July 11
BFPD responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident on East Indiana Avenue. A vehicle had rear ended a parked pop-up camper trailer hooked to a vehicle. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage. There were no injuries reported.
BFPD assisted a homeowner on Welch Avenue with flooding issues in their yard due to the irrigation ditch overflowing. The fire crew helped pull some of the vegetation growing along the ditch to slow the flow of water.
BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call for a person at Fickel Park. The individual was transported.
Sunday, July 12
BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call for chest pain on Mayo Court. The patient was transported.
BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call on Jefferson Drive. The patient was transported.
BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call at Berthoud Living Center. The patient was treated on scene.
BFPD responded to a report of a structure fire on Wagon Wheel. The crew found a small campfire in a fire ring. There were no signs of danger.
Monday, July 13
BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call for heart problems on Interstate 25 at mile marker 249. The patient was transported.
BFPD assisted a homeowner on Bristlecone Court with faulty smoke detectors.
Tuesday, July 14
BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call for abdominal pain on WCR 46. The patient was transported.
BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call for a sick person at the Reflections for Youth Boys Home on LCR 10E.
BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on 2nd Street for breathing problems.
Wednesday, July 15
BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call at Berthoud Living Center. The patient was transported.
BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call for chest pain for a patient in the parking lot of the doctor’s office on 5th Street and Mountain Avenue. The patient was transported.
BFPD and TVEMS responded to a report of a sick person in a vehicle on 6th Street Court. The patient was transported.
BFPD responded to a fuel spill near Gary and Maureen Drive. The fire crew found a 200-gallon LP tank on its side in a field with the odor of leaking propane present. The crew was able to plug the very small leak successfully. The crew then cleared the scene, leaving it with the responsible party.
BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call for diabetic problems on Welch Ave. The patient was transported.
Friday, July 17
BFPD assisted with a controlled burn on Highway 287. The crew found four piles of debris to be burned. The crew stayed on scene until the piles were burned down to a manageable size for the property owner to control.
BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on WCR 46 for a sick person. The patient was transported.
Saturday, July 18
BFPD responded to a Police Department request for a person who was found walking in the middle of the left lane of Highway 287. The individual was uninjured but was unable to respond to questions. The patient was transported.
BFPD responded to a report of an unattended fire on North LCR 23. The crew found a large 8×15 foot fire with flame lengths of 10 ft. The fire was an illegal burn. The crew assisted the property owner with extinguishing the fire. The crew explained the burn permit process to the owner for any future burns.
BFPD responded to a vehicle fire on Highway 287. The fire was out when the crew arrived, but there was evidence of a recent burn in the engine compartment. The fire crew recommended the vehicle be towed for further investigation.
BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on N. 95th Street and Yellowstone Avenue. A vehicle had struck a shed and a large tree. There were three occupants in the vehicle and minor injuries were reported. TVEMS took over patient care upon their arrival. No one was transported.
BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Mountain Ave. A vehicle was found with mild damage and two blown out front tires. The driver was uninjured.
Sunday, July 19
BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call on Goose Hollow. The patient was transported.
BFPD responded to a medical call on Gentlewind Way. The crew assisted the patient with medical care until TVEMS arrived on scene and care was transferred to them.
BFPD responded to a medical call on Colorado Ave. The fire crew assisted the patient until the arrival of TVEMS. The crew then cleared the scene.
BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call for diabetic complications on LCR 31.
BFPD responded to a report of a dumpster fire near structures on Little Acres. A large roll off dumpster with contents was fully involved with fire. The crew extinguished the fire, and then tried to locate an owner. An investigator and the owner responded to the scene.
Monday, July 20
BFPD responded to Weld County Road 3 to a grass fire approximately 15 ‘X 50’. No Structures were threatened, the fire was quickly contained and extinguished.
BFPD was dispatched to a report of a fire alarm in the 800 block of Franklin Ave. While enroute dispatch reported the alarm was an accidental activation and the call was cancelled.
BFPD responded to a Dive Rescue at 4011 S. LCR 31, Carter Lake for two missing jet skiers. While enroute an LCSO unit on scene confirmed the two missing parties had been located and the call was canceled.
Wednesday, July 29
BFPD responded to the 400 Block of Lookout Dr., Loveland for Mutual Aid call. BFPD assisted LRFA. Following mop up of the fire, BFPD was released and returned to District.
BFPD responded to an outside odor investigation in the 1000 Block of Gateway Park Drive. No odor was present. BFPD spoke to the homeowner who reported a funny smell. The gas meter on the home was found to be tilted and a small pinhole leak in one of the connections was found. The home was checked with the CGI, the meter reading was zero for both CO and LEL. Xcel Energy arrived on scene to repair the meter and connections.
BFPD responded to a Commercial structure on S. Weld County road 7 for a possible fire. BFPD found it was a hay grinding operation resulting in thick dust in the air.
BFPD responded to an accident at Meadow Lark Ln. and County Road 8. The accident was the result of a pursuit in which the parties fled the scene. Two parties were evaluated and released by TVEMS. BFPD assisted in searching for parties that had fled the area. No one was found. LSCO finished their investigation.
Thursday, July 30
BFPD responded to a medical call in the 800 block of Franklin. BFPD assisted TVEMS, the patient was transported.
BFPD responded to an accident at MM251 Northbound lane of I-25. Three vehicles with moderate damage were located in both lanes of I-25. One patient was transported. BFPD remained on scene assisting with traffic and clean up, following clean up the scene was turned over to CSP. BFPD terminated command.
BFPD responded to a medical call for a fall on WCR Road 1. BFPD assessed and began patient care, turning it over to TVEMS upon their arrival. Patient was transported.
BFPD responded to a vehicle accident at MM252 on I-25. No accident was found.
BFPD and TVEMs were called to the 600 block of 9th St. for a choking infant. The parents were out front with the baby. Patient was breathing fine and babbling. The child had swallowed a small toy and was taken to the hospital by the parents.
BFPD was called to the 3000 block of Megan Way for a fire alarm. No fire or emergency was found.
Friday, July 31
BFPD responded to a medical call at Hwy 287 and Yellowstone Road. The patient was evaluated and transported.
BFPD responded to Highway 287 and County Road 17 for a medical call. No incident was found.
BFPD responded to a medical call on 3rd Street for an unknown problem. Patient was evaluated and transported.
BFPD responded to a tractor on fire at WCR42 and WCR5. Fire was extinguished.
BFPD responded to a medical call County Road 8E. BFPD assisted TVEMS with care. Patient was transported.
