Incident Activity June 2015

Tuesday, June 2

BFPD responded to a report of power lines down on Massachusetts Avenue. The fire crew found the line to be a telephone line. The crew removed the lines from the street and Century Link was notified.

BFPD assisted a citizen with smoke detector installation on 2nd Street.

BFPD responded to a carbon monoxide alarm on SW 49th Street. The fire crew searched the residence with the monitors and no readings were found. The crew recommended to the homeowners to replace their existing monitors.

Wednesday, June 3

BFPD responded to a single vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 252. There was moderate damage to the vehicle and no injuries were reported.

BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call on 9th Street. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on LCR 4 involving two pickup trucks. One truck had light damage, the other heavy damage with one passenger still in the vehicle. The fire crew assisted TVEMS with packaging the patient for transport. The crew also assisted with traffic control.

Thursday, June 4

BFPD responded to a reported structure collapse after receiving reports of a tornado on the ground west of Berthoud. Two more reports of structures destroyed were reported. A search for two parties unaccounted for were initiated. Multiple reports of damaged structures began coming into the command center. Gas leaks were reported and Poudre Valley REA and Excel energy were asked to stage at the scene. Multiple agencies responded to the scenes including Loveland Fire, Mountain View Fire, Windsor Fire, Frederick/Firestone, Poudre Fire, Red Cross, Front Range Fire, and Salvation Army. Reports of flooding of various roads and intersections were reported. Divisions began house-to-house search for damage assessment. An evacuation site was set up at Berthoud Community Center. Colt bus was available for transporting evacuees. The command center continued throughout the night with units patrolling and checking the river flood stage. The media contacts continued until 7:00 am Friday morning.

BFPD responded to an inside odor investigation on WCR 3. This was a false alarm; the fire crew could find no readings on the monitor.

BFPD responded to a single vehicle accident on Interstate 25 frontage road and WCR 44. The vehicle had moderate damage. The vehicle had hydroplaned due to large amounts of water on the roadway. There were no injuries reported.

Friday, June 5

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call on LCR 4 for chest pain. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a two-vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 252. The vehicles sustained minor damage and there were no injuries reported.

BFPD responded to a commercial fire alarm on Bunyan Ave. The fire crew found no incident at the scene. The alarm was reset before the crew cleared the scene.

Saturday, June 6

Berthoud Fire responded with TVEMS to a motor vehicle accident on CR 21 and CR 8. One patient was transported.

Berthoud Fire responded to a citizen assist on 3rd Street to help unlock a car.

Berthoud Fire responded to a citizen assist in the 2000 Block of Jones Place to check Carbon Monoxide Detectors. The detectors were malfunctioning.

Berthoud Fire responded with TVEMS, LCSO, and Park Rangers to a motor vehicle accident on LCR 31. One patient was transported.

Berthoud Fire responded with TVEMS and LCSO with a fall at Berthoud Park.

Sunday, June 7

Berthoud Fire responded with TVEMS and LCSO to a medical incident in the 1600 Block of 4th Street.

Berthoud Fire responded with TVEMS and CSP to a motor vehicle accident on I-25. Berthoud Fire helped clean up a small fluid spill.

Berthoud Fire responded to a residential fire alarm in the 1100 Block of Madison Avenue

Monday, June 8

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of N. LCR 21 and West County Road 8. This was a two-vehicle accident with no injuries reported.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call for breathing problems at the Berthoud Living Center. The patient was transported.

Tuesday, June 9

BFPD responded with TVEMS for a person who had fallen. The patient was transported.

BFPD assisted a citizen in the 900 block of 1st Street.

Wednesday, June 10

BFPD assisted LCSO and TVEMS with an incident for a person needing medical assistance in a vehicle on Highway 287.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call for breathing problems on Victoria Street.

BFPD responded to a medical call for breathing problems at Turner Middle School for a 7-year-old who had been hit in the face. The fire crew assisted TVEMS with medical care.

BFPD responded to a rollover accident on LCR 8 and WCR8. An SUV was found on its top and the driver was uninjured standing next to the vehicle. The crew assisted with traffic control.

BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call on Iowa Avenue. The patient was transported.

Thursday, June 11

BFPD responded to an odor report on Indiana Avenue. The odor was found to be from tar on a road being chip sealed.

Friday, June 12

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call for an unconscious female at the off ramp of Interstate 25 at mile marker 250.

BFPD responded to a reported cut gas line on River Glen Way. Xcel Energy responded and the fire crew assisted with fire control while Xcel clamped the line.

Saturday, June 13

BFPD responded with TVEMS and LCSO to a medical call at the Berthoud Library. The patient was transported.

Sunday, June 14

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call for breathing difficulties on 2nd Street. The patient was transported

Monday, June 15

BFPD responded to a fire alarm on Second Street. The fire crew did not find any signs of smoke or fire in the building. The fire alarm was false and the control panel was reset.

BFPD responded to a smoke detector activation on Fifth Street. There were no signs of smoke or fire. The detector had activated due to cooking vapors.

BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call on CR 8 for a patient who had fallen and needed assistance back into their chair.

BFPD and TVEMS assisted with a medical call on Spring Hill Lane.

Tuesday, June 16

BFPD responded to a rollover accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 251. There were no hazards or injuries. The fire crew assisted with traffic control.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 251. There was moderate damage to the vehicles in this two-car accident. There were no reported injuries. The fire crew cleared the debris from the roadway.

BFPD responded to a reported motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 252. The fire crew was unable to locate an accident in the area.

BFPD crew responded to a report of a gas smell in the area of First Street. The crew was unable to detect a reading of gas in the area.

Wednesday, June 17

BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call at Berthoud Living Center. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call on Victoria Street for a patient who had fallen and was found on the garage floor with a possible broken hip. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to power lines down and arcing near Second Street and Bunyan Avenue. The fire crew blocked traffic until Xcel Energy arrived.

BFPD responded to a reported two-car accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 249. The crew was unable to locate an incident.

BFPD responded to a reported single vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 253. The fire crew searched the Interstate but didn’t find an accident.

Thursday, June 18

BFPD responded to a two-vehicle accident on 7th Street and Mountain Ave. There was minor damage to the vehicles and no injuries were reported.

Saturday, June 20m

BFPD responded to a motorcycle accident on LCR 31. Two motorcycles were involved. One rider sustained minor injuries.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on CR 48. A single vehicle had rolled into a nearby field. One person was transported.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 251. One vehicle was found in the median with minor damage. There were no injuries reported.

BFPD responded to a medical alert on Foothills Drive. This was a false alarm.

BFPD and TVEMS assisted a citizen with medical attention on Second Street and Mountain Ave. The patient was transported.

Sunday, June 21

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 250. There were no injuries reported.

Monday, June 22

BFPD responded to a dive rescue call at Carter Lake. The crew found that the party was out of the water and was uninjured.

BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call on Second Street.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 250. Two vehicles were involved in a rear end type collision. One person was transported.

Tuesday, June 23

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call for a person who had fallen on Mountain Ave. The patient was transported.

BFPD and TVEMS assisted a patient on Schofield.

BFPD responded to a report of hay on fire at County Road 13 and Abrams. Once on scene the fire crew found a tractor on fire in the middle of the field. The crew extinguished the tractor fire and the surrounding field fire.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on Interstate 25 near mile marker 248.

BFPD responded to a reported grassfire near Carter Lake. A park’s unit on scene stated that the fire was a campfire and had been put out.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle rollover accident on County Road 7 between County Road 46 and County Road 48. There was light damage to the vehicle and there were no reported injuries.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call for a sick person on West County Road 4E. The patient was transported.

Wednesday, June 24

BFPD responded to an odor investigation of natural gas on Iowa Ave. The crew searched the home and was unable to locate a source of the odor. The crew installed a CO detector in the home before leaving.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call for a person with seizures on Second Street. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a request to assist with a 2 year old locked in a vehicle. The crew successfully opened the truck and the child was found safe and uninjured.

Thursday, June 25

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 251. The crew was unable to locate an accident.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 251 in the southbound lane. A two-vehicle accident was found with one vehicle on its side blocking traffic. One occupant sustained minor injuries. The fire crew assisted with traffic control and highway debris.

BFPD responded to a report of power lines down near 7th Street and Capitol Avenue. A power pole had broken off and a large tree branch had fallen on the service line. There were no injuries reported. Xcel responded and the fire crew cleared the scene.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Riverview Drive. Both vehicles sustained light damage and no injuries were reported.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on Wild Wing Drive. The patient was transported.

Friday, June 26

BFPD responded for a cut gas line on Front Range. Xcel was notified and responded to clamp the line.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical on 49th Street SW for a dog bite. The patient drove to the hospital for further medical attention.

Saturday, June 27

BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call at Berthoud Living Center. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a medical call for a motorcycle accident at the Valley Dirt Rider track. One injured rider was transported.

BFPD responded with TVEMS for a medical on Nations Way. A female who was participating in a bike ride was overheated. The rider was transported.

BFPD responded to a report of a downed power line at the intersection of County Road 1 and County Road 40. The crew also found the power line to be on fire. The crew extinguished the ground cover fire. Due to the live power lines the pole was not touched until Poudre Valley REA responded. Once REA had secured the power to the pole the crew extinguished the fire.

Sunday, June 28

BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call for chest pain on Welch Ave. TVEMS transported the patient.

BFPD responded to a small 10 x 20 foot grass fire on the side of the road near County Road 23 and County Road 6. The crew extinguished the fire.
