Engine 62 dispatched to the 1000 block of 1st Street for a medical on a 63-year-old man. The crew found the patient lying on the floor in a backroom, conscious and breathing. TVEMS assumed patient care, the crew assisted with packaging the patient for transport.
Thursday, June 2
Engine 62 responded to the 3000 block of W. County Road 6 for a sick person. TVEMS assumed patient care, and the crew retrieved the cot from the ambulance and loaded the patient for transport to a hospital.
Friday, June 3
Berthoud Fire responded to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical.
Engine 61 and TVEMS responded to a medical call on LCR 15 for a patient having breathing problems and chest pain. The crew assisted with patient care and loading the patient to be transported to the hospital.
Engine 61 responded to a medical call for an allergic reaction in a 3-year-old boy on Woodcock Street. TVEMS arrived and assumed patient care.
Berthoud Fire dispatched to an unconfirmed residential structure fire on Highway 56 and WCR 3. The crew found a pig roast/bonfire that was under control. The crew felt there were no concerns and then left the scene to the property owner.
Saturday, June 4
Engine 61 and P351 responded to a motor vehicle accident on I-25 at mile marker 250 SB. A single car was found with minor damage, no injuries.
Squad 61 responded to a patient who had fallen on WCR 10 and Sparrow Hawk. The male patient was found lying on the ground next to a flatbed trailer. The crew set up patient care until the arrival of TVEMS. Squad 61 helped with back boarding the patient and placing him into the ambulance.

Squad 61 responded to a medical call for a person who had fainted on 4th St. and Mountain Ave. TVEMS assumed patient care.

Sunday, June 5
All Berthoud units responded to a patient who was reported as entrapped by paving machinery on I-25. When the crew arrived, they found the patient on the roadway, no longer entrapped by the machinery. TVEMS arrived and assumed patient care. Squad 61 and E-61 assisted with loading the patient into the ambulance.
Squad 61 responded to a medical call on Westport Ave. The crew assisted TVEMS with patient care and helped load the patient into the ambulance for transport.
Engine 62 responded for a faulty smoke detector on Goose Hollow Road. The crew helped the homeowners with a new smoke detector.

Monday, June 6
Engine 62 responded to the 100 block of S. Cty Road 23 for an 81-year-old woman who had fallen. The crew assisted TVEMS with evaluating the patient, standing her up, and walking her to the ambulance for transport.
Engine 61 dispatched to the 800 block of Humboldt Peak Lane for an 80-year-old man who had fallen and needed help back up. The crew assisted with helping the patient back up and was cleared by TVEMS.
Engine 62 responded to Aspen Drive for a 67-year-old woman with breathing difficulty. TVEMS assumed patient care, and the crew assisted with walking the patient to the ambulance and loading for transport.
Engine 61 and 616 responded to the 10000 block of Yellowstone Road for an outside fire. Reporting party stated the fire was out. They just wanted us to come out and make sure. The crew was met outside by the homeowner who stated she was trying to kill weeds with hot cooking oil the night before. She stated she could smell smoke last night but did not know her potting soil was on fire was until she checked in the morning. The fire was burning on the side of the garage but had not extended due to the fact the garage was masonry construction. The crew used long handled tools to scrape all the potting soil away from the garage and then proceeded to water it down and mix it in to ensure no hotspots remained.

Tuesday, June 7
Citizens assist in the 100 block of E. Colorado Avenue for assistance changing smoke detector batteries.
Engine 61 responded to the 100 block of 2nd Street for an 87-year-old woman with neck pain. The crew assisted TVEMS with loading of the patient for transport to a local hospital.
Wednesday, June 8
Berthoud Fire dispatched to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical.
Engine 61 responded to the 1000 block of Chaparro Circle for an 88-year-old woman with breathing problems. TVEMS was evaluating the patient while the crew retrieved the cot and prepared the patient for transport.
Squad 61 responded to the 400 block of Nebraska Avenue for a 92-year-old woman not feeling well. TVEMS assumed patient care, and the crew assisted with packaging the patient for transport.
Squad 61 dispatched to the 800 block of Welch Avenue for a 67-year-old man with a laceration. TVEMS and the crew prepped the patient for transport to a local hospital.
Thursday, June 9
Squad 61 responded to the 1000 block of Tundra Avenue for an 87-year-old man who was immobile and could not get up. TVEMS provided patient care, and the crew retrieved the cot and loaded the patient for transport.
Squad 61 assisted TVEMS with loading of a patient with breathing problems for transport in the 1000 block of Chaparro Circle.
Friday, June 10
Engine 61 responded to Sioux Drive for an odor inside a residence. The crew found an evacuation in progress and entered the house with four gas detectors. There was no smell of gas present in the house. The upstairs and basement were cleared room by room with the monitor and there were no signs of hazards. The crew reported the meter was functioning properly. The homeowner said the smell was of carbon in nature and was coming from the furnace room. The furnace was buzzing from a bad relay on the motherboard. The firefighter turned off power to the furnace and suggested to the homeowner that a technician come out and service the furnace before turning it back on. While clearing the house of hazards the crew also found an out of service CO/smoke detector in the basement. The crew replaced the battery and tested the house alarm system to ensure proper function.
Squad 61 responded to Marshall Place for an unresponsive 68-year-old male. TVEMS assumed patient care and performed CPR. After life saving measures were unsuccessful, the patient was pronounced deceased.

Engine 62 responded to the 900 block of Schofield Road for a 91-year-old woman who had fallen and needed a lift assist.
Citizens Assist to replace smoke alarm batteries in the 900 block of 3rd Street.
Engine 61 responded to a two-vehicle accident on Bunyan and 1st St. One driver was injured, and the crew assisted with loading the patient to be transported.
Saturday, June 11
BC61 assisted Loveland Fire with a structure fire on Ralston Creek Drive in Loveland.
Engine 61 responded with TVEMS to a medical call on Ranchhand Drive. The patient was transported to the hospital.
BFPD responded to a gas odor inside a residence on W County Road 8E. The gas monitor was used and confirmed that the house was clear of hazards.
Engine 61 assisted with a medical call on Wilfred Road. The patient was transported.
Sunday, June 12
BFPD crew helped a homeowner on Alpine Ave with smoke detector batteries.
Engine 61 responded to Massachusetts and Turner Ave for a report of a tree limb that had fallen onto a powerline causing smoke. The crew-controlled access to the area until Xcel Energy personnel arrived.
Squad 61 responded to Mt. Meeker Ave to help a homeowner with a smoke detector malfunction. The batteries were changed, and the system was then checked and working correctly.
June 13 – 19
Monday, June 13
Engine 61 responded to a report of smoke in a residential structure on Chokeberry St. This was determined to be a false call due to the alarm system being turned off while cooking in the kitchen. The homeowner was asked to call the alarm company to reset the system.
BFPD responded to a single car rollover on Highway 287 and County Road 10E. The vehicle was found with moderate damage and all parties were out of the vehicle. There were no injuries reported.
Engine 61 responded to an inside odor investigation on Mayo Court. The crew was able to find a small hint of natural gas coming from the kitchen stove due to one of the burners not working. The crew was able to get the burner working, and the gas meter then reported no elevated levels. The homeowner was advised of the situation, and the crew cleared the scene.

Tuesday, June 14
Berthoud Fire assisted TVEMS with a medical call at Berthoud Living Center.
Squad 61 responded to a medical call on Vantage Parkway. The crew aided TVEMS with patient assessment.
Engine 62 dispatched to the intersection of LCR 8 and LCR 21 for a two-vehicle accident. The crew found heavy damage to both vehicles. The crew provided C-spine precautions for one injured patient until TVEMS arrived, and the patient care was transferred to them. The crew helped with loading the patient to be transported.
Engine 61 responded to Westport Ave. for a malfunctioning detector. There was no sign of smoke or fire in the house. The crew was able to find the faulty alarm and then reset the alarm system.
Squad 61 and TVEMS responded to a medical call on 4th St. Both crews assessed the patient and then loaded him into the ambulance to be transported to the hospital.
Wednesday, June 15
Squad 61 assisted a citizen with a car seat check at Station 1.
Squad 61 assisted TVEMS with a medical call on 3rd St.
Engine 16 and 616 responded to LCR 17 for a controlled burn. The crew found a smoldering ditch burn that had spread into some large trees along the ditch. The hot spots were taken care of and the potential for fire growth was neutralized. The responsible party was then allowed to continue the rest of the burn, and the crew cleared the scene.

Squad 61 and TVEMS responded to a medical for an unconscious patient on 7th St. The patient was pronounced deceased. The crew cleared the scene when LCSO deputies arrived.

Friday, June 17
Engine 61 responded to a two-vehicle MVA on 2nd St. Both vehicles were found with minor damage. The only occupants of the vehicles were uninjured. The crew left the scene with LCSO.
Engine 61 responded with TVEMS to a medical on 4th St for chest pain. TVEMS initiated the patient care and after determining the patient would not be transported, the crew cleared the scene.

Saturday, June 18
Engine 61 dispatched to a residential fire alarm on Urban Place. The alarms were actively sounding in an unoccupied home. The crew found a real estate agent to assist with entering the house. The crew replaced batteries and reset the detectors.
Berthoud Fire BC61 responded to a reported possible structure fire on East Highway 60 and Weld County Road 7. The Battalion Commander spoke with the farmer who said that the appearance of smoke was dust from the silage grinder.
Engine 616 responded to a wildland fire on Highway 56 between Weld County Road 5 and 7. A 20 X 30’ grass fire, slow rate of spread was starting to get into a small grove of trees. Engine 61 blocked traffic on Highway 56, and E616 knocked down the fire and mopped up.
Squad 61 and TVEMS responded for a sick person on Barela Drive. The crew helped with patient care and with transporting the patient to the ambulance.
Berthoud Fire dispatched to the area of LCR 23 and LCR 8 to assist with rescuing a juvenile Bald Eagle stuck on a tree branch. The nest was located high in a cottonwood tree, across the ditch from the road access, approximately 60-70’ high. The tree’s location was not within reach of L61’s aerial or ground ladders. An arborist from Highline Tree Care agreed to help. A plan was made with Highline to access the tree using a single rope technique, remove the Eagle from the entrapment, determine if it appeared injured and if so, place it in a cage and lower it to the ground to be evaluated by the Vet. Once in the tree the arborist covered the Eagles head with a towel and reported the Eagle was impaled through the right wing and its left wing also appeared damaged due to flailing. A cage was hoisted into the tree, the eagle was successfully disentangled, and placed in the cage. The cage was lowered to the ground without causing further injury. The Vet made the decision to transport the eagle to a raptor rehab for further evaluation and rehab.
Squad 61 dispatched emergent to 6th St. for diabetic problems. The crew assisted TVEMS with the patient care.
Sunday, June 19
Berthoud Fire assisted citizens with smoke detectors on Michigan Ave.
Engine 61 responded to a one car accident on Weld County Road 3. The driver had a possible medical issue causing the accident. TVEMS assessed the patient and transported him for further evaluation.
Squad 61 assisted a homeowner on Grand Market Place with faulty smoke detectors.
Berthoud Fire responded to a motor vehicle accident on 11th and Mountain at the 7-Eleven store. There were no injuries reported.
June 20-26
Monday, June 20
Engine 61 responded to the 1000 block of Harebell Street for a cut gas line. A 2” gas line had been cut and was leaking. The crew pulled a protection line and waited till Xcel Energy personnel arrived. Xcel started digging while the 61-crew stood by for fire protection. Xcel quickly clamped the line and stopped the leak.
Squad 61 dispatched to the 200 block of Water Street for a person with heat exposure. TVEMS assumed patient care, and the crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.
Engine 61 responded to the 700 block of 13th Street for smoke and CO alarms going of in the house. The family was outside of the house and stated that the alarms were going on and off at random. The crew entered the house with the gas-meter to investigate the source of the alarm. All rooms were searched for CO and fire signs. Upon determining there was no sign of CO and fire, the crew began to check detectors to find the alarm that was activating the system. One alarm was removed and found to be dirty. It was cleaned, and the batteries replaced. A second detector in the upstairs hallway was removed, and the homeowner was advised to replace it due to the age. The alarm system was then reset and properly functioning.
Tuesday, June 21
Engine 62 responded to the 2000 block of S. County Road 23E for a small pick-up truck on fire close to a home. The crew pulled the bumper line for fire attack, and the fire was extinguished. They worked to secure the vehicle and mop up the surrounding area for any fire and hot spots. The crew also disconnected the vehicle battery.
Engine 61 along with TVEMS responded to the playground at Waggoner Park for a girl who had fallen between two pipes with her legs and was unable to get back out. Crews used EMS lube and Dawn dish soap to put on her legs and was easily able to pull her out. The girl had no complaints or injuries, and mom was there to take her home. With no other concerns units cleared scene.
Squad 61 dispatched to the 600 block of Sundown Court for a 39-year-old woman having a seizure. The crew initially evaluated the patient and took vitals. TVEMS arrived and command was transferred to them. The patient was loaded into the ambulance.
Berthoud Fire responded to the 900 block of 6th Street for 31-year-old man having a diabetic seizure. The crew assisted with patient care until the patient’s condition improved.
Wednesday, June 22
Squad 61 responded to the 600 block of 9th Street for a smoke alarm going off. The crew took down the unit, blew it out and changed the battery but determined it was a faulty detector. The homeowner was advised that it would need to be replaced.

Thursday, June 23
Berthoud Squad 61 dispatched to the Apple Living Center for a 100-year-old woman who was not feeling well. The cot was placed near the front door of the facility. The patient was secured to the cot and loaded into the ambulance for transport.

Engine 616 responded to a field across from intersection of Spartan Avenue and Berthoud Parkway for a hay bale on fire. The crew dismantled the hay bale to spread the hay out and extinguish any hot spots. While monitoring the area, the farmer arrived and told the crew that it was a bad hay bale, and he was not concerned that it was on fire. He let the crew know he would go through the proper channels next time he had a bad bale to eliminate. The farmer also stated he would monitor the area to ensure the bale did not catch back on fire.
Friday, June 24
Engine 62 dispatched to the 5000 block of Gary Drive for an 83-year-old woman who had fallen. TVEMS determined that the patient did not have to be transported by ambulance. The patient completed refusal paperwork and command was terminated.
Citizens assist in the 3000 block of Spring Mountain Court to replace detectors. After replacing 9 detectors, the crew tested the system to ensure effectiveness. The homeowner was notified the house alarms were online and working, and Squad 61 cleared and went available.
Squad 61 responded to a medical for a 40-year-old man on Cedar Drive. The crew helped TVEMS with loading the patient to be transported.
Engine 61 dispatched to a two-vehicle accident on LCR 8 and Highway 287. Both vehicles sustained minor damage. One patient was injured and transported.
Squad 61 assisted a citizen with smoke detectors at their residence on Cooperland Blvd. All batteries were replaced in the detectors, and the system was working correctly before leaving the scene.

Squad 61 assisted TVEMS with a medical call for a 95-year-old man with breathing problems on SCR 21. The patient was loaded for transport.
BFPD assisted a citizen who walked into Station 1 with a medical need. TVEMS arrived and the fire crew aided with the patient assessment. The patient was transported to the hospital for further evaluation.
Sunday, June 26
Squad 61 responded to a medical call on Oak Drive for a woman who had fainted. TVEMS assessed the patient and decided that she should be transported to the hospital. The crew helped with loading the patient onto the cot for transport.

Monday, June 27
Engine 61 responded to the NB lane of Hwy 287 for a 43-year-old man walking from Longmont to Greeley. The crew assisted TVEMS with assessing the patient and walking him to the ambulance for transport.
Engine 61 dispatched to the 2000 block of Heron Lakes Parkway for a residential alarm fire. The house had been evacuated. The homeowner stated the detectors started going off intermittently the night before. The crew used a 4- gas detector to make sure the house was clear of carbon monoxide. Both the main level and basement were clear of any CO. The crew was able to get the alarm system to silence and the faulty alarm was found in the master bedroom. The alarm was removed, and the homeowner said he would purchase a replacement for it. The E61 crew then took the liberty to replace all remaining detector batteries.
Engine 61 responded to the 100 block of Quandary Avenue for a homeowner who stated her son accidently left the gas burner on at home. The homeowner was outside, and the house was airing out. The crew entered with the 4-gas monitor to check for dangerous levels of natural gas. The stove was confirmed to be off, and the only smell of gas was a slight odor in the kitchen. The house had no detectable levels of natural gas. The crew told the homeowner that they should leave the windows open for approximately 30 more minutes and that would take care of the remainder of the smell.

Tuesday, June 28
Berthoud Fire responded to the 800 block of Bunyan Avenue for a cut gas line. Engine 61 laid the charged bumper line for fire suppression and began to notify the homes on both sides to shelter in place. Once Xcel arrived on scene, the crew staffed the hose line while Xcel clamped the gas line.
Engine 62 dispatched to the 1000 block of Paramount Drive for an 83-year-old man who had fallen. The crew helped TVEMS with loading of the patient for transport to a local hospital.
Wednesday, June 29
Engine 61 responded to the 2000 block of Tabor Street for a 35-year-old-man who was not conscious. TVEMS arrived and assumed patient care. The crew assisted in loading of the patient for transport to a local hospital.
Engine 62 responded to the 3000 block of Harmony Court for a detector that was not properly connected to the alarm system. The crew cleaned the faulty detector, checked all other detectors, replaced all batteries, and checked the attic. The system returned to normal function.
Squad 62 dispatched to the 700 block of 7th Street for a woman with breathing problems. TVEMS asked the crew to retrieve the cot and they assisted with packaging the patient for transport.

Thursday, June 30
Engine 61 responded to the 600 block of Great Plains Avenue for a 15-year-old girl who had hit her head jumping into bed. TVEMS initiated the patient contact, and the crew assisted in packaging the patient for transport.
Engine 61 dispatched to the 500 block of Wild Honey Drive for a possible faulty detector. The crew was met at the front door by the homeowners. They advised the crew there was no smoke or CO present upstairs. The combination smoke/CO detector was in fault downstairs. The batteries were removed from faulty detector. Once removed all the alarms deactivated. Homeowner was advised to get a new detector.
Engine 61 responded to the 200 block of 42nd Street for a dumpster fire. The crew found a medium sized dumpster with its contents on fire. The fire was extinguished, and Engine 61 was unable to determine the fire cause. The property was turned back over to the company supervisor.
Engine 62 responded to the Love’s Travel Stop for a 57-year-old man having a seizure in Taco John’s. TVEMS arrived and took over command. The crew assisted with loading the patient into ambulance for transport.
Berthoud Fire responded to the 1000 block of Murrlet Street for an 88-year-old woman having a seizure.
