Incident activity for May  2012

Tuesday, May 1

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 287 and County Road 8.  This was a single car accident with no damages or injuries.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on Willow Drive. The patient was transported.

Wednesday, May 2

BFPD responded to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical call.  The crew assisted TVEMS with transporting the patient.

BFPD responded to a medical call for a person with seizures on Second Street. The patient was transported.

Thursday, May 3

BFPD assisted Johnstown Fire with a trash fire on the Interstate 25 frontage Road.

BFPD assisted with a medical call on S. County Road 15. The patient was transported.

Friday, May 4

BFPD responded to an out of control grass on Weld County Road 3. The field on fire covered an area of approximately 200 feet by 50 feet. The fire was spreading at a fast rate because of high winds. The crew attacked the fire from several positions and was able to get the fire under control. The responsible party did not have a permit and was advised of the permit process and possible fines.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 249. There were no injuries reported.

BFPD responded to a two car accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 248. There was minor damage to the vehicles and no injuries were reported.

BFPD responded to Interstate 25 at approximately mile marker 247.5. Two vehicles were located. Both vehicles had sustained minor damage. One female passenger was injured and transported.

 BFPD responded to a grass fire along East County Road 4 and Weld County Road 1. A road grader emitting sparks onto the nearby ditch caused this fire. There were two separate blazes approximately 6 feet by 30 feet moving along the roadway. The crew extinguished both fires.

Saturday, May 5

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call for a patient having seizures on Lakritz Street. The patient was transported.

Sunday, May 6

BFPD responded to the Valley Dirt Rider track for an injured motorcyclist. The patient was transported.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with lifting a patient at the Berthoud Living Center.

Monday, May 7

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on Glen Drive.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call at Turner Middle School.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call at the Berthoud Community Center. The patient was transported.

Wednesday, May 9

BFPD responded with the Berthoud Police to a medical call on High Plains Drive.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call on E. Chapparo Circle.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with transporting a patient at the Berthoud Living Center.

A BFPD diver assisted Loveland Fire with unclogging a drain from a pump house at Silver Lake.

Thursday, May 10

BFPD assisted Loveland Fire with a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 253.  The fire crew controlled hazards on the vehicles and assisted with traffic control. One patient was transported.

BFPD assisted with a medical call on Fourth Street. A female had fallen and was complaining of hip pain. She was transported.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call for a person with a possible stroke on Chisholm Way.  The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Eighth Street and Mountain Avenue.  The driver of the vehicle was experiencing diabetic problems and TVEMS took over patient care. The fire crew assisted with traffic control.

Friday, May 11

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on Eighth Street.

BFPD responded to a commercial fire alarm on Bunyan Ave. There were no visible signs of fire from the exterior or inside the 2-story day care. This was a false alarm and the alarm company was notified.

Saturday, May 12

BFPD responded to a medical call on Nebraska Ave. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to an out of control bonfire on Chisholm Way. The fire crew extinguished the fire. This was an illegal burn and Larimer County Sheriff’s office issued the homeowner a fine for not having a permit.

Sunday, May 13

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on Fourth Street. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a residential fire alarm on Fifth Street The residence was unoccupied and smoke alarms were activated and the crew could smell smoke. The crew entered the residence and found a pan burning on the stove.

Monday, May 14

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on Weld County Road 5. The patient was transported.

Tuesday, May 15

BFPD responded to a residential fire alarm on Weld County Road 46. Upon arrival there was nothing visible but there was an alarm sounding from the basement. There were no findings of smoke or fire but the alarm was found to have been activated from a propane leak located on the furnace.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical emergency on Cheyenne Dr.

Thursday, May 17

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 252. This was a two vehicle rear end accident with minor damage and no reported injuries.

Friday, May 18

BFPD responded with Loveland Fire to a reported residential structure fire on 42nd St. This was a fully involved structure fire. Berthoud assisted with suppression and overhaul of the fire.

BFPD responded to Bothun Road and West County Road 8 at the request of Berthoud Police. A Larimer County Deputy was experiencing abdominal pain and was transported.

BFPD responded to a report of a grass fire on the plateau above Parrish Ranch Road. The blaze was caused a lightning strike. Apparently, the heavy rain associated with the storm had  quickly extinguished the fire. The crew was unable to locate any signs of fire in the area.

BFPD responded to the Berthoud Living Center to assist TVEMS with a patient transfer to the hospital.

Sunday, May 20

BFPD responded to a report of a possible bonfire near Sundown Court and County Road 21. A small recreational fire was found and it was being properly attended.

BFPD responded to a medical call for a possible broken leg on S. County Road 23. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a motor vehicle accident on Highway 287 south of Berthoud. A single vehicle had drifted off the road into the guardrail. There was moderate damage to the vehicle and no reported injuries.

Monday, May 21

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on Glenview Dr.

BFPD responded to a report of smoke in the area on Gateway Park Dr.  The crew located an illegal burn in the backyard of a residence and extinguished the fire.

BFPD responded to 400 Mountain Ave. for an electrical issue on the exterior of a building. The meter box was arcing from faulty wiring. Excel Energy was notified and they responded to the scene.

Tuesday, May 22

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 252.  There was minor damage to the vehicles and no injuries reported.

Wednesday, May 23

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on Preserve Dr. for a person experiencing abdominal pain. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a reported grass fire on Interstate 25 on the west shoulder of the highway between mile marker 257 and 247. The crew found a 25’ by 100’ foot grass fire and extinguished it.

BFPD responded to a reported structure fire on Blue Mountain Ave.  When the fire crew arrived, light smoke was showing on the exterior of the structure. The wood burning stove chimney appeared to have black smoke emitting from it into the interior and exterior of the residence. The fire did not extend to any other areas of the structure. The chimney appeared to be the source of the problem.

Thursday, May 24

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a report of a person lying next to the road on Interstate 25.  A male was found sleeping in the grassy area between the ramp and the lanes. There was no need for medical attention.

Friday, May 25

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call on Preserve Drive. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a medical call on Arapahoe St.

BFPD responded to a reported grass fire in the median on Interstate 25 at mile marker 247. The crew was unable to find any signs of fire in the area.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 248.

BFPD responded to a residence on Iowa Ave to check a smoke detector that activated. The smoke detector was faulty.

Saturday, May 26

BFPD responded to Ish Reservoir for a reported motor vehicle accident. The crew found an abandoned vehicle.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on 6th St. The patient was transported.

Monday, May 28

BFPD responded to a structure fire in a chicken coop on Weld County Road 7. The fire crew found the structure was fully involved and extinguished fire. The homeowner reported that a new heat lamp had been put in service hours before the fire started.

BFPD responded to a motorcycle accident at the Valley Dirt Rider track. The fire crew assisted TVEMS with the patient care and the patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a medical call on Glenview Drive. The patient was transported.

Thursday, May 31

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a diabetic emergency on Riverglen Way.
