Thursday, May 1

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call for seizures on Iowa Ave. The patient was transported.

Friday, May 2

BFPD responded to a medical call for chest pains on West County Road 10E. The fire crew assisted with medical care until arrival of TVEMS. The patient was transported.

Saturday, May 3

BFPD responded to a rollover accident on WCR 3. The vehicle sustained heavy damage. A passenger was found ejected from the vehicle lying face down near the vehicle. The driver reported no injuries. The passenger was transported.

BFPD responded to a commercial fire alarm on North First Street. There were no visible signs of fire. A roofing company was putting on a new roof, which caused the beam detectors to activate. The alarm company responded and deactivated the detectors.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on Fourth Street. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on I-25 at mile marker253. The crew found an abandoned vehicle.

BFPD responded to a reported grass fire on County Road 14. The fire crew found several individuals around a fire pit. Due to the size of the fire and not having a burn permit the owners were advised to extinguish the fire.

BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call for a driver who had pulled off the side of the road on Interstate 25 at mile marker 250. The individual was transported.

Monday, May 5

BFPD’s Fire Marshal responded to a report of possible transients camping and starting fires in the area of First Street and Bunyan Avenue. Fire starting materials were found present at the site. This incident is under further investigation.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call for an allergic reaction for a patient at Turner Middle School. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a medical call for seizures on Redwood Circle. The fire crew assisted TVEMS with the medical care.

BFPD responded at the request of the Police Department to a motorist who was found in a vehicle off the road on County Road 23 and County Road 8E. The individual was in the driver’s seat and complaining of not feeling well. TVEMS arrived and took over patient care.

BFPD responded to a possible grass fire on I-25 at mile marker 249. The crew found a controlled irrigation ditch burn.

BFPD responded to a reported outside odor on Mount Massive Street. The fire crew investigated the garage area of the residence and found a gas leak coming from the regulator on the meter. Xcel responded and the fire crew cleared the scene.

Tuesday, May 6

BFPD responded to a report of a power line down on S. County Road 15. The railroad reported a glowing coil coming off the pole to a transformer. Xcel was notified and the crew cleared the scene.

BFPD assisted a citizen on E. Colorado Avenue with a smoke detector.

BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call on Meadowlark Drive.

BFPD assisted a citizen on 10th Street. with changing batteries in a smoke detector in a high vaulted ceiling.

BFPD responded to a grass fire on the corner of County Road 21 and County Road 10. This was a controlled ditch burn and the fire was under control. There was some concern about the cottonwood trees in the ditch. The fire crew hosed and cooled the surrounding area.

BFPD, TVEMS and Loveland Fire were called to a confined space rescue on Massachusetts Ave. The reporting party had reported voices coming from the grain tower. The crews found 3 teens that had broken into the crawl space of the building. The teens were minors and were turned over to the Larimer County Sheriff’s office.

BFPD responded to a 40’ by 10’ grass fire burning along the top of a ditch bank near West County Road 8. This fire was rekindled from a previous ditch burn earlier in the day. The fire crew extinguished the fire and cleaned the area.

Wednesday, May 7

BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call for chest pain on McColm Street. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a medical call on Second Street. The patient was deceased when the fire crew arrived.

BFPD responded to a medical call for a person with diabetic problems at the Berthoud Living Center. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call for injuries at Turner Middle School. The patient had a dislocated ankle and was transported.

BFPD responded to a commercial fire alarm on Second Street. The crew searched the structure and found no signs of sprinkler activation or fire. The alarm was reset.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 249. This was a single vehicle accident with moderate damage to the vehicle. No injuries were reported.

BFPD responded to a residential structure fire on Eugene Drive in Loveland. The two story medium sized structure was burning on the back side of the house. The crew assisted Loveland Fire with extinguishing the fire, then salvaging and overhauling before clearing the scene.

Thursday, May 8

BFPD responded to a single vehicle accident on Interstate 25. There were no injuries reported.

Friday, May 9

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call on Jones Place for an individual with knee pain and swelling. The patient was transported.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call at the Berthoud Living Center. The patient was transported.

Saturday, May 10

BFPD responded to a commercial fire alarm at the Brookside Gardens. A steam shower had activated the alarm. The crew reset the alarm system.

BFPD responded to an unauthorized controlled burn on Weld 3. The crew located a thick column of smoke and a large debris pile north of Weld 3 and Highway 56. The property owner was advised and educated on the requirement to obtaini a burn permit from Weld County and on the open burning requirements and regulations within BFPD. The crew remained on scene to assist the property owners with the burn pile until the intensity of the burning materials died down.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 252. There was moderate damage to the vehicles. There were no injuries reported.

BFPD responded to a reported four-vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 250. The crew was unable to locate an accident.

BFPD responded to a reported motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 250. The report stated a black SUV had spun out in the median. The crew was unable to locate the vehicle.

Monday, May 12

BFPD responded to a report of an inside odor on Greenridge Drive. The fire crew searched with the detector and did not detect any signs of carbon monoxide in the residence.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call at Berthoud High School.

BFPD responded to a medical call on W County Road 10. The patient was transported.

Tuesday, May 13

BFPD responded to a medical call on Mountain Avenue for a hand injury. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Highway 287 and County Road 4E. This was a three-vehicle accident with heavy damage. One patient was extricated from their vehicle and was transported.

BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call on E. Colorado Avenue. The patient was transported.

Wednesday, May 14

BFPD responded to a medical call at the Berthoud Living Center for a female who had fallen and sustained a head injury. The patient was transported.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on First Street. The patient was transported.

Thursday, May 15

BFPD responded to a reported commercial alarm on Weld County Road 7. When the crew arrived at the single story building an alarm was sounding. The fire crew did not find any sign of fire or water leaking. The alarm company was notified to reset the system.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on No. First Street. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a medical call for seizures on Colorado Avenue. The patient was transported.

Friday, May 16

BFPD responded to a medical call for a child who fell from a kitchen counter on Michigan Ave. TVEMS evaluated the child and released the fire crew.

Saturday, May 17

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call for seizures. The patient was in a car on Highway 287 and Highway 56. The driver had gone off the road north of the intersection and went into the field through the ditch ending on Berthoud Peak Drive. The patient was transported.

Sunday, May 18

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call for chest pain on So. County Road 23E. The patient was transported.

BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call on Second Street. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a medical call at the request of the Berthoud Police. A male was found lying on the rocks next to the railroad tracks near Third Street and Bunyan Avenue. TVEMS evaluated the patient and the fire crew cleared the scene.

BFPD responded to a report of an outside gas odor near Weld County Road 3. The fire crew searched the house and no levels of carbon dioxide were detected. A nearby gas well was found to be leaking and causing the odor in the area. The gas company was notified and responded.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a report of a male found lying face down in the parking lot on Third Street and Mountain Avenue. The patient was transported.

 

Monday, May 19

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call for chest pain on Fourth Street. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call for a person on Sixth Street with abdominal pain.

Tuesday, May 20

BFPD responded with TVEMs to a medical call on Weld County Road 7 at the request of Berthoud Police. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a commercial fire alarm on Bunyan Ave. The fire crew searched the entire building and concluded this to be a false alarm. The recent thunderstorm could have activated the alarm. The alarm was reset, property was secured and the business owner was notified.

Wednesday, May 21

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call for heart problems on Highplains Drive. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a medical call on Bunyan Ave at the request of the Berthoud Police. The patient was a 13-year-old male with possible injuries.

Friday, May 23

BFPD responded to a residential structure fire on Shoreside Drive. [1] The crew found a medium size structure with fire showing on the rear side of the building. The weather condition was a factor as heavy rains and lightning created flash flooding conditions. The fire was clearly running through the attic and the fire was attacked from the inside of the structure. Loveland Fire and Johnstown Fire were called for assistance. The fire was extinguished and a restoration company responded to patch holes in the roof. The crew watched the fire throughout the night. The fire was investigated and the cause was determined to have started on a peak of the roof which had been struck by lightning causing the interior attic fire.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call on Douglas Place. The patient complaining of a possible broken leg was transported.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call at Berthoud Living Center. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a report of flooding from an irrigation ditch on Bunyan Ave. The fire crew assessed the area and didn’t find any hazards.

BFPD responded to a residential fire alarm on Wild Wing Drive. This was a false alarm caused by the heavy rains in the area.

BFPD responded to a report of flooding at a residence on Soaring Peaks Drive. The flooding was minor and the homeowner required no assistance.

Saturday, May 24

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call in a vehicle on Interstate 25 at mile marker 249. The patient was transported.

Sunday, May 25

BFPD responded with TVEMS medical call on So. Iowa Avenue. The patient was transported.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call for a bicyclist who was down at County Road 8 and Sunbird Lane. The patient was transported.

BFPD assisted a patient who walked into Station 1 complaining of asthma problems. TVEMS arrived and the patient was transported.

 

Monday, May 26

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call on Second Street for a person with breathing problems. The patient was transported.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on First Street. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a life alert activation for a resident on Redwood Circle. This was an accidental alert.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call on Wilfred Road for a patient who had fallen down the stairs and possibly sustained injuries to her head and shoulder. The patient was transported.

Tuesday, May 27

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on S. Highway 287 and W. CR 2E. Two vehicles were involved, one with moderate damage and the other with heavy damage. One patient was injured and transported.

BFPD responded to a report of a smoke odor in a residence on West Hill Drive. The fire crew searched the structure and found no indication of fire or smell of smoke.

Wednesday, May 28

BFPD and TVEMS responded to a medical call for a sick person in a tractor in a field east of the frontage road, just south of mile marker 250. The patient was found complaining of heat stroke like symptoms. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of W. CR 4E and S. CR 17. This was a two-vehicle accident with heavy damage to both vehicles. There were no injuries reported.

Thursday, May 29

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call on Ninth Street for a teenage male who had sustained injury from a broken glass.

Friday, May 30

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on CR 23 and CR 2. This was a single car accident with no injuries reported.

Saturday, May 31

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call on Bunyan Ave.
