Sunday, May 1
Squad 61 dispatched to the 1500 block of Alpine Drive for a person who had fallen. The patient was evaluated and lifted into a chair. The family refused transport, and TVEMS cleared Squad 61 from the scene.
Squad 61 responded to the 1500 block of Alpine Drive to help TVEMS with lifting a patient to a cot.
Monday, May 2
Had numerous calls for CO detector activations due to power outages.
Squad 61 responded to the 200 block of 2nd Street for a 59-year-old woman having a seizure. TVEMS assumed patient care at which time the patient was loaded into the ambulance for transport.
Squad 61 dispatched to the 1000 block of 6th Street for a 78-year-old woman feeling dizzy. The crew found TVEMS obtaining vitals, and they assisted with packaging the patient for transport to a local hospital.
Engine 626 responded to the 4000 block of Karen Court for a burn pile that a neighbor was concerned about. The crew located a burn pile approximately 6×6 with mostly coals and no flames by the time crew arrived. Command explained the dos and don’ts of the burning process and advised homeowner to obtain a burn permit in future burns.
Squad 61 and TVEMS responded to the 500 block of S. 5th Street for a 49-year-old woman with severe abdominal pain. The crew helped the patient to the cot and into the ambulance for transport.
Tuesday, May 3
Squad 61 dispatched to a service call in the 1000 block of Monroe Avenue. The informed the crew that she had a smoke detector beeping. The crew changed the battery in the smoke detector and tested it, and it was fully operable.
Medical assist for a 20-year-old male in the 300 block of W. Hill Drive. The crew began taking patient assessment when TVEMS arrived on scene. Command was transferred, and Squad 61 cleared.
Police request to the 15000 block of N. 95th Street for a man who had crashed into the ditch. Patient was conscious and alert. The crew walked the patient to the ambulance where he was checked out and transported.
Wednesday, May 4
Squad 62 responded to the 3000 block of Arleigh Drive for an 85-year-old woman who had fallen. TVEMS arrived and assumed patient care. The crew obtained vitals and retrieved the cot to load the patient into the ambulance. She was transported to a local hospital.
Thursday, May 5
Berthoud Fire dispatched to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical.
Squad 61 and TVEMS responded to the 200 block of 2nd Street for a 10-month-old boy choking. The patient was transported to a local hospital.
Engine 61 responded to a bonfire in the 4000 block of S. Arthur Avenue. The crew found a bonfire in the backyard. E61 informed the property owner that unincorporated Larimer Cty was a in a burn ban and the fire needed to be extinguished at once. The owner was cooperative and put the fire out with a garden hose.
Friday, May 6
Engine 61 dispatched to I-25 MM 250 southbound for a single vehicle accident with moderate front end damage and air bag deployment. The driver was checked by TVEMS and completed patient a refusal form. The crew put some absorbent down for a small amount of coolant on the ground. A tow truck removed the vehicle.
Berthoud Fire responded to the 600 block of Sundown Court for a 40-year-old woman having a seizure. The crew helped TVEMS with loading of the patient for transport.
Squad 62 responded to the 700 block of Big Oak Court for a 75-year-old woman who had fallen. The patient was helped up and patient care was transferred to TVEMS.
Engine 61 dispatched to the 1000 block of 1st Street for a motor vehicle accident. A single vehicle had hit the south side of the Conoco building. The vehicle was not into the building, and the intrusion appeared to be less than 1-foot. The crew checked the building for damage, which appeared to be limited to the partition wall and some contents inside. There was no damage to any gas, water or electrical components, and all structural members were in place. LCSO remained on scene until a building inspector arrived.
Engine 61 dispatched to the intersection of W County Road 8 and N Highway 287 for a two-vehicle accident. All parties reported no injuries. The crew remained on scene until the arrival of LCSO.
Squad 61 dispatched to the 400 block of Grand Market Avenue for a 72-year-old woman who had passed out. The patient was breathing and alert when the crew arrived. TVEMS began patient evaluation and recommended transport for further evaluation. The patient was loaded into the ambulance for transport to a local hospital.
Squad 61 dispatched to the 1700 block of 4th Street for a patient who was sick. TVEMS initiated patient care and cleared Squad 61 from the scene.
Saturday, May 7
Squad 61 dispatched to the 900 block of 6th Street for a 31-year-old man who was having a diabetic seizure. TVEMS began patient evaluation. After a few minutes, the patient became fully responsive, and levels were within normal limits. The patient did not want to be transported to the hospital.

Engine 62 dispatched to the 6900 block of W County Road 8E for a single bicycle rider down. Larimer County Parks was on scene reporting a laceration to the side of the head. The crew assisted TVEMS with patient assessment and packaging for transport.
Sunday, May 8
Squad 61 dispatched to the 1600 block of Glacier Avenue for a 26-year-old woman who was sick. The crew began patient evaluation and transferred care to TVEMS.
Squad 61 responded to the 1000 block of 1st Street for an 80-year-old woman who had fallen. TVEMS evaluated the patient and cleared Squad 61 from the scene.
May 9-15
Monday, May 9
Engine 61 responded to the 100 block of Welch Avenue for someone burning limbs in the backyard. The crew contacted the homeowner and informed him that he would need to extinguish the fire due to Larimer County being under a fire ban, and the Town of Berthoud does not allow open burning. Homeowner was very cooperative and immediately extinguished fire.
Tuesday, May 10
Engine 61 responded to I-25 SB for a 5-vehicle accident with injuries. TVEMS assumed patient care for two adults and loaded them into the ambulance for transport to a local hospital. CDOT courtesy patrol removed the last vehicle with the tow truck to Love’s Travel Center.
BC 61 dispatched to I-25 mm 248 SB for a grass fire. The crew could see further south confirming 2 more fires. The 3 fires were quickly controlled and mopped up.
Wednesday, May 11
Engine 62 responded to the 3000 block of Rotor Way for a 51-year-old man with leg pain. The crew was met at the door by the patient. TVEMS assumed patient care, and the patient was able to walk to the ambulance for packaging and loading for transport to a local hospital.
Squad 61 dispatched to the 1000 block of Murrlet Street for an 89-yer-old woman who needed to be transported to a local hospital. TVEMS and the crew loaded her into the ambulance.
Engine 61 arrived on scene in front of Love’s Travel Center for a 4-vehicle accident with heavy damage to one vehicle. There were no persons requiring transport by TVEMS, and the scene was cleared of all vehicles and debris.
Squad 61 reported to the 1000 block of 4th Street for a 35-year-old woman having chest pains. The crew initiated patient contact and started to get patient history and vitals. TVEMS arrived and assumed patient care.
Thursday, May 12
Squad 61 along with TVEMS were dispatched to the Love’s Travel Center for a 74-year-old woman who had fallen. TVEMS initiated patient care, and the patient was loaded onto the cot and transported to a local hospital.
Service call to the 1000 block of Gateway Park Drive to replace an old smoke detector. The crew replaced the old detector with a new one and did a system test on it. The homeowner was satisfied with the installation, and the home was turned back over to the homeowner.
Squad 61 responded to the 3000 block of Oystercatcher Drive for a 36-year-old man who had fallen and hit his head. The crew assisted TVEMS with putting the C collar on the patient and loading him into the ambulance.
Berthoud Fire responded to smoke alarms going off at the 500 block of S. 9th Street. Four of the smoke detectors from the second story were manufactured in 2005. The crew reminded the homeowner that smoke detectors were good for 10 years. The homeowner stated they would purchase new smoke detectors and install them as soon as possible.
Engine 61 responded to the corner of 4th Street and Mountain Avenue for a small clay planter with smoldering landscape bark inside. The crew extinguished the remaining hot spots within the planter.
Friday, May 13
Engine 626 dispatched to the 300 block of Wark Avenue for a 68-year-old man not feeling well. Patient contact was transferred to TVEMS. The crew assisted the patient on to the cot and packaged for transport to a local hospital.
Engine 61 responded to Loves Travel Center for a 7-vehicle accident. One person was complaining of neck and back pain. TVEMS arrived an applied a C-collar to the patient, and they were transported to a local hospital.
BFPD and LFRA were dispatched to a water rescue dive at Boedecker Reservoir. An empty boat trailer was found in the parking lot, and the weather on the lake was very windy. The fire crew searched the shoreline and spotted a boat believed to be related to the trailer of concern.
Squad 62 responded to a medical for a patient who had fainted inside Hays Market. The crew assisted TVEMS with assessing vitals and loading the patient into the ambulance for further evaluation.
Engine 62 responded to a single vehicle off the road located near CR 8 and Nations Way. There were no reported injuries.
A citizen stopped by Station 61 for a car seat assistance. The seat was adjusted, and education materials were provided to the citizen.
Saturday, May 14
Engine 62 dispatched to a residential fire alarm on Candice Court. The smoke alarms were going off but there were no signs of smoke. The crew replaced all the smoke detector batteries.
Engine 62 dispatched to Beverly Drive for a sick person and took command until the arrival of TVEMS. The crew assisted with loading the patient for transport to the local hospital.
BFPD dispatched to a MVA on the frontage road between the Berthoud and Johnstown exits on I-25. A two-vehicle accident was found with little damage visible to the vehicles and there were no injuries reported.
Engine 61 responded to a report of a grass fire near Weld County Road 36 and Keller Drive. A small 10’ by 6’ smoldering grass fire was found. The fire was extinguished and cleaned up.
Citizen assist for a person who needed help adjusting in his wheelchair. The crew assisted the patient into a proper seating position.
E61 and TVEMS responded to a medical call for a cardiac arrest on Timeless Circle.
Engine 61 and 62 responded to a reported inside gas leak on Pheasant Run. The leak appeared to be in a detached garage. The gas leak was verified, and the gas line was shut off. The crew recommended a HVAC professional for repairing the leak.
Squad 61 dispatched to the 1100 block on Mountain Avenue for a medical call. The crew assisted TVEMS.
Sunday, May 15
Squad 61 assisted TVEMS with a medical on Canyonlands Street for a female patient having chest pain. The crew assisted with loading the patient to be transported.
Squad 61 assisted a citizen with smoke detectors on Redcloud Ave. All detectors were cleaned, and batteries were changed.
Squad 61 responded to Glacier Ave. for a medical for a 72-year-old. The crew assisted TVEMS with loading the patient for transport.
Engine 61 responded to a faulty alarm on Winding Brook Dr. No hazard was found, and the faulty detector was replaced.
Squad 61 and TVEMS were dispatched to a medical call on 6th St. for a 31-year-old man with diabetic problems. The fire crew assisted with establishing an IV and then cleared the scene after the patient was stable.
E613 and E623 responded to a reported wildland fire on County Rd 15 and W County Road 2E. There was approximately 200’ of ditch burning, mostly contained to the ditch. The crew attacked on the north end to stop the fire from climbing a large cottonwood tree. The crews extinguished the fire and completed mop up.
Squad 61 and TVEMS were dispatched to Ellie Way for a 99-year-old patient with breathing problems. The patient was not transported.
Squad 61 and TVEMS were dispatched to Blue Spruce mobile home park for a patient with difficulty breathing. The crew assisted with loading the patient for transport to a local hospital.
May 16-22
Monday, May 16
Squad 62 responded to the 4000 block of Glen Drive for a 39-year-old woman who had passed out. The crew-initiated c-spine precautions due to her hitting her neck and shoulder when she fell. TVEMS assumed patient care, and the patient was packaged and loaded into the ambulance and transported.
Engine 61 dispatched to 7th Street and Franklin Avenue for a small vehicle on fire. The crew found a boat in the driveway on fire and the owner trying to extinguish it. The Crew contacted the man inside the boat to come down and let the fire fighters finish extinguishment. The fire was put out, and all hot spots were cooled. Investigation completed, area of origin was front bow area of the boat, cause undetermined.
Engine 62 responded to the 200 block of 2nd Street for a 60-year-old woman who needed help in walking to the ambulance for transport to a local hospital.
Tuesday, May 17
Berthoud Fire responded to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical.
Squad 61 along with TVEMS responded to the 800 block of 4th Street for a sick person. The crew helped with loading the patient into the ambulance for transport.
Service call for a chirping smoke detector in the 300 block of Iowa Avenue. Crew met the homeowner at the front door, no alarms were active upon entry into house. The crew found a smoke detector in basement bedroom that had a red flashing light. It was past its expiration date. The homeowner was advised to replace the detector. The rest of the system was tested and in normal operation.
Squad 61 responded to the 22000 block of Weld County Road 3 for an assist with TVEMS to package a patient for transport to a local hospital.
Wednesday, May 18
Citizens assist for a car seat check at Station 2.
Engine 61 dispatched to a cut exterior gas line in the 2000 block of Prairie Flax Street. Workers had the road blocked off and were standing by in the area. The crew deployed a hose line for protection and used the gas monitor to check the area for hazards. It was found that the line was cut and had a small leak. No hazardous levels of LEL were found in surrounding area. Xcel Energy personnel successfully stopped the leaking gas.
BC-61 arrived on scene for mutual aid with Loveland Fire for a structure fire in the 800 block of 19th Street SW. The BC was assigned a support group and worked with fire attack to affect a stop on the fire. Once an all clear of the structure was made and declared fire controlled, BC had company check for extension and begin light overhaul. Once it was determined that the fire was extinguished, the BC was released from the incident.
Squad 61 responded to the 800 block of Wagon Bend Road for a 3-year-old female who had fallen and hit her head. TVEMS assumed patient care, and the patient was placed on the cot and transported to a local hospital.
Thursday, May 19
Berthoud Fire responded to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical.
Water Tender 616 responded to the west side of Weld County Road 1 and just south of County Road 4 for a tree stump on fire. The stump was smoldering with no one present. The crew extinguished the fire.
Engine 61 responded to I-25 MM 250 NB for a 4-vehicle accident, non-injury. All parties were out of the vehicle which had only light damage. TVEMS was canceled and there were no hazards on the roadway. Scene was turned over to Colorado State Patrol.
Engine 61 dispatched to the 800 block of 8th Street for a child locked in a vehicle. The vehicle had two children inside. The crew used the “big-ez” kit through a partially open window to unlock the front passage door.
Friday, May 20
Engine 61 along with TVEMS responded to the 200 block of 2nd Street for a 94-year-old man with an hour-long nosebleed. TVEMS managed all patient care and E61 cleared.
Berthoud Fire dispatched to the 4000 block of Beverly Drive for a 61-year-old man who needed to be packaged and loaded into the ambulance for transport.
Engine 61 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Highway 287 and 42nd St. SW. This was a two vehicle T-bone style accident with heavy damage to the vehicles. The crew performed an emergency rapid extrication for an occupant who was then transported to the hospital. Another patient was c-spined and was transported by TVEMS.
Squad 61 and TVEMS responded to 2nd St. for a patient needing to be transported to the hospital. The crew assisted with loading the patient.
Berthoud Fire and TVEMS responded to 42nd St. SW for a patient having breathing problems. The crew helped with patient assessment and packaging the patient to be transported to the hospital.
Berthoud Fire dispatched to 4th Street for a report of a Carmon Monoxide (CO) detector going off. The crew found an elevated level of CO. The windows were opened, the furnace and hot water heater were checked, and it was found to be caused from the gas oven and burners that were all being used. After confirming the CO had returned to a safe level, the crew cleared the scene.
Squad 61 and TVEMS responded to a medical call on Bruce Drive for an 87-year-old woman. After medical assessment it was decided that the patient needed to be transported to the hospital. The fire crew aided with loading the patient.
Saturday, May 21
Berthoud Fire and TVEMS were dispatched to Gateway Park Lane for a 90-year-old man who had fallen. The crew assisted with loading the patient to be transported.
Squad 61 and TVEMS were dispatched to Woodcock Street for a patient experiencing abdominal pain. The fire crew helped with moving the patient to the cot and loading him into the ambulance.
Engine 61 responded to a medical call on Elm Drive for a female having breathing problems. The crew helped TVEMS with loading the patient for transport.
Squad 61 responded to the 400 block of Nebraska for a 92-year-old person who had fallen. The crew assisted TVEMS with loading the patient to be transported.
Sunday, May 22
Berthoud Fire assisted a homeowner on Welch Ave with faulty smoke detectors. Batteries were changed and all detectors were working properly before the crew left.
Berthoud Fire dispatched for a motor vehicle accident on East Highway 56. A two-vehicle accident was found with minor damage to both vehicles. Both parties of the vehicles reported not having injuries. The vehicles were moved from the highway until LCSO arrived.
Squad 61 responded with Loveland Fire to a reported vehicle accident on Berthoud Parkway and Woodcock St. The crew found a vehicle on its roof in the south bound lanes. The driver had self-extricated and was sitting on the sidewalk. The crew started a patient assessment until TVEMS arrived on scene and took over the patient care. The crew provided traffic control and helped with cleanup.
Berthoud Fire dispatched for a commercial fire alarm on SW 42nd St at Campion Academy. Engine 61 arrived on the scene of a large, single-story, commercial structure with nothing showing and evacuation in progress. The cause of the alarm was found to be from an overheated hair straightener. The alarm was reset, and the students were allowed back into the building.
Squad 61 and TVEMS responded to a medical call on 49th St. SW. The patient was loaded into the ambulance and transported to the hospital.
Berthoud Fire responded to a medical call on 2nd Street for back pain. The crew aided TVEMS with loading the patient to be transported.
May 23-29
Monday, May 23
Squad 61 responded to the 500 block of Windom Peak Lane for a 71-year-man who needed a lift assist.
Squad 61 dispatched to the 200 block of 2nd Street to help TVEMS with a patient transport to a local hospital.
Squad 62 and TVEMS were dispatched to Weld Cty 7 and Cty Road 48 for a 50-year-old man having chest pains. The crew assisted with loading the patient for transport, and the vehicle he had been driving was off the roadway and secured by his son.
Berthoud Fire was requested by LCSO to stage at Welch Avenue and 1st Street. Once the situation was taken care of by LCSO, Squad 61 cleared.
Squad 61 arrived on scene in the 2000 block of Urban Place for a 6-year-old female who was choking on a lifesaver. By the time the crew arrived, the girl had been able to swallow the candy and did not appear to be in physical distress. The child was not transported.
Engine 62 responded to River Glen Drive for a car that had wrecked in a field and required an extrication. The crew did a full door conversion on the driver’s side. TVEMS assumed patient care, and the patient was loaded into the ambulance. The crew remained on scene to assist LCSO by lighting the area during the investigation.
Tuesday, May 24
Squad 61 dispatched to the 200 block of 2nd Street to assist TVEMS with a patient transport to a local hospital.
Squad 61 responded to the 500 block of Kansas Avenue for a 72-year-old man who had a sudden onset of immobility. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with packaging the patient for transport.
Wednesday, May 25
Berthoud Fire responded to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical.
Engine 61 responded to the 700 block of Great Plains Avenue for a cut gas line. Crews arrived on scene to find the construction company had already blocked off the area to outside access. The crew pulled a line for fire protection. Xcel Energy then arrived on scene and reported that the emergency flow valve had done its job when the line was ruptured and shut gas off to the house. The crew stood by and provided fire protection while the Xcel Energy crew dug for the line to place their clamp. With the gas line exposed, Xcel placed their clamp and pinched off the line. With no other hazards in place, the Xcel crew no longer needed assistance.
Citizens assist at Station 1 to have a car seat base installed.
Engine 61 responded to the roundabout at Berthoud Parkway and Grand Market for a concrete truck that had rolled over. The driver had gotten out under his own power and was with paramedics. The only hazard was hydraulic fluid leaking from the concrete mixer. The crew put down floor dry, and the driver was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. LCSO was also on scene and provided extra traffic control.
Thursday, May 26
Berthoud Fire responded to the Berthoud Living Center for medical.
Engine 61 responded to the intersection of Hwy 287 and Larimer Cty Road 2E for a T-bone style motor vehicle accident. One patient having chest pains was transported to a local hospital. The crew finished applying floor dry to the fluids on the ground and secured power to both cars since they required a tow from the scene.
Squad 62 dispatched to the 400 block of Gunn Avenue for a woman who was having breathing problems. TVEMS assumed patient care, and the crew helped with further assessment and packaging for transport.
Berthoud Fire responded to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical.
Engine 61 dispatched to the 1000 block of Alpine Avenue for a 74-year-old man who was having an asthma attack and could not breath. After the cot was prepared, the crew walked the patient outside and secured him for transport.
Friday, May 27
Citizens assist for a dog that was locked in the car for about 30 minutes at 3rd Street and Mountain Avenue. The vehicle owner confirmed all the doors were locked. The crew used the big easy to open the door. Access was made to vehicle, dog seemed to be in good condition. The vehicle owner’s identification and vehicle registration were checked to confirm ownership.
Engine 61 dispatched to I-25 mm252 NB for a motor vehicle accident. A single semi had run into the water filled jersey barrier and fluids were all over the highway. CSP and CDOT were already on scene and reported that there were no injuries. The crew confirmed this with the driver and cleared the scene.
Engine 61 responded to a motor vehicle accident at 2nd Street and Welch Avenue. This was a two-vehicle accident. One person reported a laceration, which was treated. The scene was turned over to LCSO.
Engine 61 responded to the 200 block of 2nd Street for a person with breathing problems. TVEMS assumed patient care. The crew aided with loading the patient onto the cot and into the ambulance for transport.
Engine 61 dispatched for a motor vehicle accident at Weld County 47 and Weld County 48. The crew found one vehicle with another vehicle that had possibly fled the scene. One person was treated by TVEMS and transported to a local hospital. The scene was turned over to CSP.
Engine 62 dispatched to the 1600 block of Murrlet Street for a 59-year-old woman having a possible stroke. TVEMS assumed patient care. The crew assisted with packaging the patient for transport to a local hospital.
Saturday, May 28
Engine 61 responded to the 5000 block of S Lincoln Avenue for a 92-year-old woman who had fallen. TVEMS made patient contact, and the crew assisted with loading the patient onto the cot and into the ambulance for transport.
Squad 61 dispatched to Love’s Travel Stop for a medical. The patient was in a semi-truck. The crew assisted TVEMS with loading the patient into the ambulance.
Engine 61 responded to the 900 block of Spartan Avenue for an 11-year-old girl stuck in a high back, full bucket child swing. The crew was able to remove the bolts from the swing where it attached to the chain, thus allowing the girl to stand on her own. The swing was then cut away from the child, and she was assessed by TVEMS.
Sunday, May 29
Engine 62 dispatched to the 2000 block of Cuda Court for an electrical box smoking. The reporting party saw smoke around the electrical box and mulch outside of the residence on fire. The burning mulch was extinguished with water from a garden hose. The crew requested PVREA to respond to the residence to inspect the meter and they also investigated the burn area for cause and origin. Engine 62 remained on scene for approximately one hour monitoring the area. With PVREA in route and no active hazards, the crew cleared the scene.
BC 61 dispatched to the 1100 block of E 4th Street to assist Loveland Fire with a structure fire caused by a lightning strike. BC 61 assisted with information control until the fire was mitigated.
A citizen assist in the 17000 block of Keller Drive to change smoke detector batteries.
Engine 61 responded to the 800 block of Humboldt Peak Lane for a smoke detector chirping. The crew determined the detector was faulty. The homeowner was advised to get a new detector as soon as possible.
May 30- 31
Monday, May 30
Engine 61 responded to the 200 block of E. Michigan Avenue for a 74-year-old woman with breathing problems. TVEMS initiated patient care, the crew assisted with packaging the patient for transport. Thompson Valley EMS transported.
Engine 61 dispatched to the 2000 block of Heron Lakes Parkway for a 69-year-old man having a seizure. Squad 62 assisted TVEMS with patient assessment and preparation for transport.
Engine 61 responded to the 200 block of 2nd Street for 50-year-old man having trouble breathing. The patient was transported to a local hospital.
Berthoud Fire responded to the 300 block of Cheyenne Drive for a 74-year-old man for fainting. The crew was met at the front door by the patient’s son and led into bedroom. The patient was sitting on the bed conscious, breathing and alert. TVEMS completed patient refusal and Engine 61 cleared scene.
Tuesday, May 31
Engine 61 responded to the 2000 block of Southwind Road for a heat detector activation. The crew was met outside by the homeowner, she stated that her alarms started to sound, and her home control panel alerted that it was a heat alarm in the furnace room. The crew checked the furnace room and found no heat or smoke. The rest of the house was checked and there was no evidence of fire. The panel was reset, and the system was checked. The property owner was advised to get in contact with her alarm company to have her system serviced.
Engine 61 responded to I-25 SB for a 5-vehicle accident with light damage. TVEMS handled all patient care and after inspecting the scene and finding no hazards, the crew was cleared from the call.
