Incident Activity October 2016
Monday, October 10
Berthoud Engine 26 responded to a grass fire near structures at 605 S. Cty Road 27E. This was the scene of a ¼ acre grass fire in light fuels. The grass fire was extinguished and mop up was completed. Poudre Valley REA was notified since a power pole was involved.
BFPD was dispatched to the 5100 block of Thundering Peaks Drive for a citizen assist. The citizen needed assistance for a wheelchair lift. The homeowner needed help as the lift was binding and not working correctly. Homeowner stated he had a repair man coming to fix the lift.
Tuesday, October 11
Berthoud Fire responded to the 300 block of Michigan Ave. for a medical call. The crew found a woman that had suffered a seizure and fallen, hitting her head. TVEMS assumed patient care. The crew assist with packaging the patient for transport.
Larimer Cty Sheriff Department requested BFPD to do a standby for a SWAT event on Mountain Avenue. The staging area was at Station 1. LCSO wanted our crew to come in and evaluate two patients in custody. There was one party who showed no sign of injury and denied injury, the second party had a ½” superficial cut that had quit bleeding on its own. The patient denied any pain associated with it.
Wednesday, October 12
Berthoud Fire responded to 1725 Hwy 56 for a Dodge Dakota on its side on the north side of the road. There was a single motor vehicle on its side in the corn field. The driver indicated that he was the only occupant of the vehicle and he was checked out by TVEMS. The crew checked for hazards and found none. LCSO arrived and took over command.
BFPD was dispatched to 560 S. Cty Road 17 for a single vehicle rollover. The driver reported as a 41-year-old female, conscious and breathing, with cuts on her face. TVEMS assumed patient care and Engine 1 mitigated vehicle hazards. The command was turned over to LCSO.
BFPD did a stand-by for bonfire at Grace Place
Thursday, October 13
Berthoud Fire responded to 1500 block of Willow Drive for a medical. TVEMS assumed patient care.
BFPD responded for a lift assist at the 200 block of 2nd Street. The crew and TVEMS helped the female get into her car.
Berthoud Engine 2 responded to the 3400 block of Larimer Cty Road 8 for a citizen assist. The crewl found the smoke detectors needed new batteries. The crew replaced all the batteries in the smoke detectors. Also advised the homeowner to replace the detectors due to the age of the detectors.
BFPD responded to the 200 block of 2nd Street for a female with back pain. The crew assisted TVEMS with packaging the woman for transport.
Berthoud Fire was dispatched to the 1000 block of 7th Street for a person with diabetic problems. TVEMS assumed patient care. The patient was transported.
Friday, October 14
Berthoud Engine 2 responded to the 600 block of Joyce Court for a person with breathing problems. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.
BFPD responded to a citizen assist in the 700 Block of East Hwy. 56
BFPD responded to County Road 8E for an odor investigation. The odor was determined to be from a controlled burn in Boulder County.
BFPD treated a walk in medical patient and initiated patient care. Upon arrival of TVEMS, care was transferred and the patient was transported.
BFPD, while on standby at a Berthoud High School Football game, responded to an injured player on the field. Engine crew immobilized and assessed the patient and transferred care to TVEMS. Patient was transported.
Saturday, October 15
Engine 1 was dispatched to a minor MVA. A two-car MVA with minor damage was found with no reported injuries.
Engine 1 responded to a medical in the 800 block of 5th Street.
BFPD responded to a report of an injury on the football field at the high school during a JV football game. The visiting team’s player sustained an injury. TVEMS transported the player.
Sunday, October 16
BFPD was dispatched to a traffic accident at the intersection of N. LCR 17 and S. Hwy. 287, involving a motorcycle. Engine 1’s crew assisted TVEM with the patient immobilization. Patient was transported by TVEMS.
Monday, October 17
Berthoud Engine 2 responded to Sundown Court for 2 outbuildings involved. Engine 1 established water supply and assisted with fire attack. One outbuilding was a total loss, the second building had heavy damage.
Tuesday, October 18
BFPD responded to a 4 vehicle accident on I-25 NB at construction zone. Engine 1 arrived to find 4 vehicles with all parties out and uninjured. Colorado State Patrol was notified of the incident and advised of the need for a tow truck. The scene was released to CSP.
Berthoud Fire responded to the 1300 block of Gateway Park Drive to investigate a defective smoke detector. The crew took the smoke detector off of a vaulted ceiling and determined that it was defective. The homeowner stated he would replace it. The crew also changed a battery in the detector in the master bedroom on the main floor.
BFPD was dispatched to the 800 block of Wagon Bend Drive for a person having chest pains. TVEMS assumed patient care.
Berthoud Fire responded to 1000 Welch Avenue for a sick person. TVEMS assumed patient care. The crew assisted with packaging the patient for transport.
Wednesday, October 19
Berthoud Fire responded to 600 block of Larimer Cty Road 4E for a diabetic problem. TVEMS assumed patient care.
BFPD responded to the 200 block of Common Drive, to assist homeowner with investigating an odor of smoke in her home. The crew was able to trace the odor to her furnace which was having a blower malfunction. Engine 1 shut down the unit and advised her to contact a furnace repair company.
Squad 11 responded to the 1300 block of Gateway Park Drive for a scheduled smoke detector install. The crew installed the new smoke detector, verifying that the batteries and unit were operational. ‘
Squad 11 was dispatched to 800 block of Mountain Avenue for a medical. TVEMS assumed patient care.
BFPD was dispatched to 2000 block of Hwy 60 for a multi-vehicle traffic crash. Engine 1 was assigned to assist with a patient in a SUV that had run into an irrigation culvert. Engine 1 ensured stabilization and removing the patient with the assistance of TVEMS. Once the patient was removed the crew checked the other vehicles for hazards.
Thursday, October 20
Berthoud Fire responded to the 1200 block of Elm Street to a request for emergency medical care. TVEMS assumed patient care. The crew assisted TVEMS with packaging the patient for transport.
Berthoud Fire was called to the 500 block of 7th Street to assist TVEMS to a patient that had fallen in the driveway. The patient and his father standing outside in their driveway with two Larimer Cty Sheriff deputies. The crew assisted TVEMS with packaging the patient for transport.
Friday, October 21
BFPD escorted the Berthoud High School girl softball team to the interstate from the high school. Softball team going to State Championship playoffs!
Berthoud Engine 1 responded to 21000 block of Weld Cty Road 7 for an 88-year-old man who had fallen. TVEMS was on scene and the crew helped in packaging the patient for transport.
Public Education at the carnival at Berthoud Elementary School. Dispersed fire safety material and displayed Engine 1.
Berthoud Engine 2 responded to a medical in the 300 block of West Hill Drive. There was a male with abdominal pain. TVEMS assumed patient care.
Berthoud Fire was dispatched to Larimer Cty Road 27E for smoke detectors going off. The crew determined the batteries in the smoke detectors as well as CO detectors needed to be replaced. Changed all the batteries and advised the homeowner to place a CO detector in basement since an occupant was sleeping down there.
Saturday, October 22
BFPD responded to the 800 block of Wagon Bend Road for a medical. TVEMS assumed patient care, and the crew assisted with packaging and loading into ambulance.
Berthoud Fire was called to a motor vehicle accident on Hwy 287. This was a single vehicle roll over with heavy damage, with the driver sitting on the side of the road. The crew started assessment and the patient refused treatment. When Colorado State Patrol arrived, all Berthoud Fire units cleared.
Berthoud Fire was called to 850 Spartan Avenue for a football player with a twisted ankle. The crew assisted with moving him into his Mother’s car.
BFPD was dispatched to I-25 mm 250 NB for a 2-car rear end type accident with heavy damage. TVEMS assumed patient care. After hazards were mitigated the crew was cleared by Colorado State Patrol.
Engine 1 responded for a citizen assist for smoke detectors chirping. Homeowner stated that all of his detectors were going off. Upon arrival at the 700 block of Mt. Massive Street, Engine 1 crew changed all the batteries, and the detectors were in good working order when Engine 1 cleared. Also advised the homeowner that the batteries needed to be changed twice a year and to do it when you change your clocks forward or backwards.
Berthoud Fire was dispatched to the 1500 block of Willow Drive for a lift assist.
BFPD responded to the 200 block of 2nd Street for a lift assist.
Monday, October 24
Berthoud Fire responded to Wagon Bend Drive for a gas leak. The crew located the leak in the roundabout at Cooperland and Wagon Bend There was a cut gas line in the trench they were working on. The area was immediately evacuated, Exel arrived and clamped the leak.
BFPD was dispatched to 7th Street and Bruce Drive for a sick person. TVEMS assumed patient care.
Tuesday, October 25
Berthoud Fire responded to the 1700 block of Hwy 56 for a fall. They found a female complaining of knee pain, but stated she never fell. She was able to stand up and walk. Patient refused transport to a hospital.
Wednesday, October 26
Berthoud Fire responded to the 200 block of S. 2nd Street for a lift assist. The crew helped a patient to her chair. Patient refused transport.
Thursday, October 27
BFPD responded to I-25 mm 248 NB for a motor vehicle accident. They found a driver of a SUV complaining of pain from air bag deployment. TVEMS assumed patient care and the scene was turned over to Colorado State Patrol.
Berthoud Fire responded to Larimer Cty Road 10E for a 16-year-old male with breathing difficulties. The crew assisted TVEMS with moving the patient to the pram.
Berthoud Fire was called to the 900 block of 5th Street for a sick person. TVEMS transported the patient to McKee Medical Center.
Saturday, October 29
BFPD responded to the 1000 block of Larimer Cty Road 17 for a medical. TVEMS took over patient care. The crew assisted with packaging the patient for transport.
Station 2 responded to the 5700 block of Foothills Drive for a male complaining of dizziness. The crew assisted with packaging the patient for transport.
Berthoud Fire was dispatched to the 1000 block of Larimer Cty Road 17 for a citizen assist.
BFPD responded to the 1400 block of 4th Street for a 91 year old female complaining of not feeling well. TVEMS assumed patient care.
A smoke investigation was called into Station 1. After further investigating it was determined it was from a fog machine on a Halloween display.
Squad 11 responded to the 200 block of 2nd Street for a lift assist.
Monday, October 31
Berthoud Fire responded to the 500 block of Windom Peak Lane for a male that fell down the stairs. The crew found a man at the base of the stairs and assisted TVEMS with moving the patient up the stairs.
BFPD was dispatched to the 4800 block of Malibu for a medical assist. TVEMS assumed patient care.
Berthoud Fire was dispatched to Larimer Cty Road 10E for a motor vehicle accident. A single car was in the ditch with light damage and all parties out of the vehicle. The crew checked for injuries and hazards and found none. Larimer Cty Sheriff arrived and command was transferred to them.
