August 1 – 7

Monday, August 1

Theft: Mountain River Road, a resident called to report a 25’ Gooseneck PJ Trailer had been stolen from the driveway.

Violation of a Protection Order: Jenny Lane, a 37-year-old female violated the protection order with her husband by sending messages to him. She was found in Loveland and booked. 

Fraud: Horseshoe Circle, a resident called and said he was a victim of antivirus scam. Not out any money. Can’t someone invent an “antiscam virus”?

Tuesday, August 2

Unattended Death: 4th Street, a resident was found deceased by his sister. He had been sick recently and nothing suspicious was noted. Condolences to the family.

Vehicle Crash / DUI: 4th Street, a 19-year-old woman crashed into a parked car and rolled her SUV onto its side, and it caught on fire. The woman did not complete roadsides consistent with sobriety. Booked.

Wednesday, August 3

Mental Health Hold: Welch Avenue, Summitstone requested deputies to respond to this location where a woman was suicidal. The woman was out front covering herself with dirt. Transported by deputies to the hospital for evaluation.

Traffic Hazard: Hwy 287 & Berthoud Parkway, a box full of nails fell from a vehicle and dumped nails all over the highway. Berthoud Streets Department came out and cleaned up the mess. I guess you could say the streets guys nailed it.

Suspicious Circumstances: Water Avenue, a man said he got permission from Jesus to collect scrap wood. He showed the deputy the scrap wood in his vehicle. Deputies called the site supervisor who said that this man is not supposed to be there. The supervisor did not want to press charges this time and allowed him to keep the scrap wood he currently had but said he would want to press charges in the future. I think the supervisor was outranked on giving the guy permission to collect the scrap wood.

Thursday, August 4

Vehicle Trespass: N. Berthoud Pkwy (Berthoud Reservoir Park), a man and woman were paddle boarding at Berthoud Reservoir and when they came back to their car, they noticed that the car had been entered and the man’s backpack had been stolen from the trunk of the car. 

Friday, August 5

Mental Health/ Detox Hold: Biffle Court, a woman was contacted after her family began receiving text messages from her asking them to watch over her 20-year-old daughter. The woman was intoxicated and admitted to taking numerous shots of alcohol and mixing several antidepressants. She later admitted she was trying to be with her son, who died 7 years ago. Off to the hospital for evaluation.

Saturday, August 6

Hit And Run: Green Wood Drive, a 21-year-old resident struck an unattended/parked vehicle at this location then fled to his home in the neighborhood. Summons issued.

Sunday, August 7

Structure Fire: Southview Road, deputies helped fire departments with a house fire. No homeowners were present at the time of the fire and fire investigators are still investigating the cause.

Vehicle Crash / Disregarded Traffic Control: Hwy 56 / Hwy 287, a driver failed to stop for a red light as he traveled west and into the path of another vehicle who was traveling north and crashed. Airbags deployed in both vehicles, no injuries. The driver was cited.

Detox Hold: S 9th St, a resident called a nurse’s hotline for her being intoxicated. Upon contact with the woman, it was discovered she fell backwards hitting her head and knee. Medical transported due to intoxication level and head injury to the hospital and placed on a detox hold.

August 8 – 14

Monday, August 8

THEFT: Clayton St., it was reported that a vehicle license plate tab was stolen from a yellow 2013 Box Truck.

Vehicular Eluding: 3800 E Hwy 56 (Loves), a silver Kia eluded contact at Loves. The pursuit terminated once southbound on I-25 for lack of other agency support. The suspected driver has 7 warrants and was associated with the plate

DUI/Under Revocation-Habitual Offender/Fictitious Plates: 3800 E Hwy 56 (Loves), a Ft Lupton man was contacted for fictitious plates and found to be Habitual Traffic Offender and showed signs of impairment, he thought he was at 144th and Federal. Chose Breath with a result of .120. Issued a Summons.

3rd Deg Assault/Child Abuse/Domestic Violence: Ranchhand Drive, a man struck his wife in the face during an argument about his drinking and their deteriorating marriage. Their young daughter was seated next to mom during the encounter. The man was booked.

Tuesday, August 9

Criminal Mischief: Rivergate Way, a new construction home window was broken. Reported at 2200 hours with possible suspects of construction workers who stayed late to “hangout”.

Unattended Death: W County Road 14, a 51-year-old man was found deceased by his parents at this residence.

Mental Health / Assist Medical: CR10E & Hwy 287, a 70-year-old man was called in while lying in the grass off Hwy 287. Upon contact, the man stated he had medical issues and needed assistance. He made statements that he was kidnapped at 4 months old and is continuously being tortured by his niece. He stated niece is trying to kill him, has run him over in a car, sprayed sarin gas in his eyes and made him drink cyanide. Medical personnel responded and transported him to the hospital. While on scene with this man, a two-car crash took place due to drivers too busy looky-looing.

Vehicle Crash / Careless Driving: N Hwy 287, a woman was unable to stop for car (who was looky-looing) that had slowed for traffic in front of her due to the emergency vehicles on the side of the road.

Wednesday, August 10

Missing Adult: Tranquility Court., a developmentally delayed man walked away from this location where he lives with his family, in the direction of the abandoned off-road park just south of Loves. Investigations and Emergency Services were notified and assisted. Area was searched by deputies, a drone, and a Search and Rescue and K9. Several man hours were spent and lots of resources were used in looking for this man.

Unattended Death: Harebell Street, a 22-year-old man and 3 friends were staying at an Airbnb. They were here from Texas to do roofing work. The man did not answer his bedroom door when 3 others went out to work in the morning and he did not respond to phone calls and emails throughout the day. When they arrived home, they found the man unresponsive in his bed. Lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful.

Warrant Arrests: 3800 E Hwy 56, (Love’s) – a 46-year-old man was arrested on outstanding warrants. He had a medical issue and was transported to the hospital. The man was issued a summons.

Follow Up: Tranquility Court. The missing man from earlier today was contacted by the Erie Police Department while sleeping in the grass alongside the roadway at Erie Parkway and WCR 5. His family picked him up and brought him home safely.

Thursday, August 11

Assault: Franklin Ave, a 92-year-old resident reported being assaulted by a healthcare worker.

Friday, August 12

Driving Under Suspension / Possession of Schedule II Drugs: Welch Ave / Common Dr., a 35-year-old woman was seen driving and was known to have a suspended license. K9 alerted and 3.73 grams methamphetamine, less than one gram of Fentanyl, two loaded syringes, and paraphernalia were located on a vehicle search. She was issued a summons and released.

Vehicle Crash/Careless: Murrlet Street, a 30-year-old woman took a wide turn and almost struck a vehicle head-on. She swerved and hit a parked car and tree. Summons issued. Boy wasn’t I lucky I avoided the head on collision? Well of course I took out another car and a tree, but the head on collision was avoided by my expert driving skills.

Vehicle Crash: 2000 block of E Hwy 56, a 40-year-old man had a diabetic emergency and crashed into a culvert. His car rolled and caught fire, resulting in an extrication, and was transported to the hospital.

Saturday, August 13

Warrants / Possession of Schedule II / Open Container: N. Berthoud Pkwy., (Berthoud Reservoir Park), a Berthoud man and a woman were contacted for open containers at the reservoir. The man had a small amount of methamphetamine on him when he was searched incident to arrest. Both were booked. The woman became uncooperative when she arrived at the jail.

Sunday, August 14

Warrants / Violation of a Protection Order: Indiana Ave, a man was contacted after he called in a civil matter. The man violated a protection order after stating he was sleeping on a covered hot tub in the backyard of this address. Booked. Hot tub, doghouse, fine line I guess.

August 15 – 21

Monday, August 15

Burglary / Theft / Criminal Mischief / Vehicular Eluding / Reckless Driving: 2nd Street, unknown suspects cut the metal bars holding the locks in place on three different storage units. The unknown suspects wore masks during the incident. Upon deputy contact all subjects fled in vehicles. A red Dodge pickup truck was pursued from the storage units and a pursuit was later terminated as the vehicle drove the wrong way onto I-25. A Home Depot flatbed truck was not pursued and left in an unknown direction. The red Dodge pickup truck was later abandoned in a business off Hwy 34 and Larimer Parkway in Johnstown. It was later determined the vehicle was stolen out of Platteville.

Theft: Lowrey Lane, a woman reported her purse containing a wallet was stolen sometime yesterday.

Felony Warrant: 3800 E Hwy 56 (Loves), a 49-year-old Longmont man was arrested for his felony warrant. Booked. 

Tuesday, August 16

Attempted Theft/ Unauthorized use of Financial Transaction Device: S CR13, a resident reported an unknown suspect attempted to use his credit card at Sam’s Club. The bank blocked the transaction, and he is not out any money.

Wednesday, August 17

Vehicle Crash / Non-Injury: Hwy. 56 / Travel Center Drive, a driver was turning left when 2nd driver tried to pass on the left. The 2nd driver clipped the front end of the 1st driver’s semi. 2nd Driver was cited. 

Vehicle Crash / Non-Injury: Hwy 56 / Weld CR 5, a driver was attempting to cross Hwy 56 when he was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound on Hwy. 56. The 1st driver was cited. 

Suspicious Circumstances: 10th Street & Welch Avenue, a woman was out walking when she observed an elderly female using a tree along the Berthoud Commons Walking Path. The woman said she yelled at the female that she could not poop there, and the female replied, “I just did.” No excrement was located, and the female had left the area prior to Deputy’s arrival. We had to handle the 1st call before this one so this call was “#2”

Thursday, August 18

Suspicious Circumstances: E. Nebraska, received a report from a therapist that they were on a video call with a client. The therapist stated her client had his eyes closed and was not responding. The therapist did not know if the client was in hypnosis or just asleep. Deputies contacted the client and discovered the video feed froze which is the reason he was not responding. Technology, isn’t it grand?

Friday, August 19

Vehicular Eluding / Felony DUI / Felony Warrant / Assist to Greeley Police: E. Mountain Ave & Pyramid Peak Drive, a traffic stop was attempted on a sedan for expired registration. He began to elude as GPS was deployed on his car, and then slowly drove through the trailer parks off 2nd Street at speeds under 10 miles per hour. The vehicle stopped and he was taken into custody without incident. The driver is a 36-year-old Ft. Collins man and was found to have had three prior DUI convictions and was under the influence of meth and alcohol this time also. The vehicle was found to be stolen and the driver’s license belonging to the vehicle theft victim was found in the suspect’s wallet. The vehicle theft victim’s vehicle had been stolen as a getaway car after a bank robbery in Greeley around a week ago. Evidence relating to the bank robbery was in the stolen vehicle, and through tattoos and physical features, the suspect matched the description of the bank robbery suspect. The vehicle was towed at Greeley PD’s request, and they will follow up for their case. For now, he was booked into our jail. 

Recovered Stolen Plate / Suspicious Circumstances: Hammond Court & Nicholson Street, a Bobcat and flatbed trailer belonging to a Landscaping company from Parker were located west of this intersection with a stolen license plate from the same company.

Saturday, August 20

Suspicious Party / Possible Peeping Tom: Welch Avenue &/ 1000 N Berthoud Parkway, a 47-year-old Berthoud man was called in as acting suspicious around children and filming them at the Berthoud Recreation Center. Later in the shift a female reported that at 0400 hours a male was peeping in her windows and was caught on video. Investigation continues.

Sunday, August 21

Vehicle Crash with Injury: Berthoud Parkway / N Hwy 287, a driver ran a red light southbound on Hwy 287, colliding with a 2nd vehicle who was turning left on a protected green arrow. The red-light runner was transported to the hospital and cited. 

Vehicle Crash / Non-Injury: Berthoud Pkwy / N Highway 287, a driver turned left in front of another vehicle due to a new light pattern for Hwy 287, where there is a flashing yellow turn arrow now. The 1st driver was cited. 

Family Problems: 4th Street, a man reported his fiancé struck him in the face. Through investigation, the argument appeared to have been over the man shaking their 5-month-old child. Child Protection Services was contacted. 

Detox Hold: W County Road 14, The VA Crisis line reported a man was intoxicated and had suicidal ideations. It was found that the man was indeed intoxicated but not suicidal. The man called the VA crisis line to try to get help getting checked into a residential treatment center for his alcoholism. He had a bag packed and was ready to go. The man was placed on a voluntary detox hold at the hospital.

August 22 – 28

Monday, August 22

Assist / 2nd Degree Assault / Domestic Violence: County Road 31, a man was stabbed multiple times with scissors by his girlfriend over an argument. Investigations and CSI responded to the scene and hospital. He was told when they started dating that she was a cut-up.

Tuesday, August 23

Warrant Arrest: 3800 E Hwy 56, a 50-year-old Loveland man was contacted and found to have a warrant. Booked

Wednesday, August 24

Vehicle Crash: Mountain and 8th Street, a 36-year-old Berthoud woman ran a red light, striking two other vehicles. There were no injuries, summons issued.

Vehicle Crash / Minor Injuries: N. Berthoud Parkway, a 21-year-old Ft. Collins woman lost control of her car and rolled over a light pole.

Thursday, August 25

Second Degree Burglary / Criminal Mischief / Theft: William Way, a contractor reported a house which was under construction was broken into some time overnight. The back door was forced open, and the suspects cut off a $1,200 tankless water heater mounted to the wall.

SCAM: Woodcock Street, a resident reported an unknown suspect called telling her that he was Sgt. Jacob Johnson, and she had a felony warrant for her arrest. She did not fall for it and is not out any money and blocked the phone number. Remember no law enforcement agency will call you and demand money.

Missing Endangered Adult: Tranquility Court, a 34-year-old special needs man left his home sometime around noon. He hitchhiked to Hwy 66 and I-25 and was last seen walking east.

Vehicle Crash: N. Berthoud Parkway and Urban Place, a 31-year-old Loveland man was involved in a single vehicle crash, rolling his vehicle after hitting a curb while trying to pass cars in the roundabout. This type of accident is called “Karma”.

Friday, August 26

Follow Up – Missing Person: Tranquility Court, the special needs missing man was contacted by Frederick PD after a citizen reported seeing him at Highway 52 and Colorado Blvd. He was returned home.

Vehicle Crash: Hwy 56 / Weld County Road 7, conflicting stories, but it is believed that a man had passed on the left striking another vehicle’s mirror as she was attempting to turn left at this intersection. The first driver was cited. 

Theft: S. Berthoud Parkway, construction crew reported that sometime in the last 5 days, an unknown suspect stole a 100-foot fire hose and a hammer jack from the retention pond in development under construction.

Saturday, August 27

Vehicle Crash: Urban Place and Berthoud Parkway, a 30-year-old Berthoud man merged into the side of another vehicle. Minor damage, no injuries. First driver was issued a summons

Driving Under Revocation / Speeding / Warrant: W. County Road 8 and Hwy. 287, a 36-year-old Fabens, Texas man was stopped for speeding and found to be Revoked – Refusal. A friend came to pick up the car, but he was found to have a warrant for his arrest. Both men were booked. This is the new 2 for 1 sale, or buy one get one free, and all of this with free shipping.

Warrant x3 / Assist Longmont Police: Meadowlark Drive, Longmont PD transported a 39-year-old Longmont man to Larimer County. Deputies took custody and the man was booked.

Burglary: 2nd Street, two storage units were broken into. Latch mechanisms were cut off with a grinder. Nothing taken. All that work and took nothing? Not the sharpest crayons in the box.

Sunday, August 28

Theft / Criminal Mischief: Newfound Lake Road, a company advised that sometime overnight an unknown suspect spray painted the surveillance cameras. The unknown suspect stole two outdoor chairs and cushions from the backyard. The unknown suspect also stole the American Flag and the company’s Flag from the flagpole in the front yard.

Burglary: 2nd Street, a resident found her storage unit had been entered, random items such as leather purses, kids’ school notebooks, and a box of baby items were taken.

Mental Health Hold: W. County Road 14, a heavily intoxicated 45-year-old woman made suicidal statements and requested a mental health hold. We obliged.

Warrant / Possession of Schedule II drugs / Paraphernalia: 3800 E Hwy 56 (Loves), a 34-year-old man was arrested on his warrant. Following a K-9 sniff, 1.78gr of meth and paraphernalia was found.

August 29 – September 4

Monday, August 29

Vehicle Crash / Non-Injury: 1st Street, a male driver rear-ended another vehicle at low speeds. The driver was cited.

Theft / Illegal Dumping: Art Drive, a man dumped several items in a construction dumper that he was not privy to. He agreed to remove the items to avoid criminal charges. The man was probably trashed.

Tuesday, August 30

Theft: 2350 Bowen Lane., a resident reported his rear license plate was stolen off his Ford Mustang. The theft likely occurred while he was briefly parked at Loves.

Vehicle Crash / Non-Injury / Unsafe Lane Change: Hwy 287 & Berthoud Parkway, a female driver abruptly changed lanes and struck another vehicle beside her. Damage was moderate, no injuries, both vehicles were towed. The woman was cited. Bumper cars are at Elitches in Denver, not in Berthoud.

Criminal Trespass / Theft: Mount Meeker Avenue, a resident’s work truck was broken into early this morning. The rear passenger window was smashed, and tools were taken. A possible suspect print was found inside the vehicle and lifted. 

Criminal Trespass / Theft: Gateway Park Drive, another resident reported his work truck was broken into, and several DeWalt tools were stolen. The method and time frame were the same as in the case above. A partial print was lifted from inside the vehicle. 

Vehicle Crash / With Injuries / Careless Driving / Driving Under Revocation: Hwy 287 and Berthoud Parkway, a driver was driving a 26-foot box truck and looked at his GPS. While distracted he rear ended a stopped Hyundai Ascent at the red light causing significant damage. The Hyundai was pushed into two other cars and a trailer. The driver of the Hyundai was transported to the hospital and sustained minor injuries. The truck driver was cited for the above. Thank you to CSP for conducting a DOT vehicle inspection on the truck. 

Vehicle Crash / Non-Injury / Following Too Close: Hwy 287 and Berthoud Parkway, a male driver while looking for his lighter rear ended another vehicle causing minor damage and no injuries. The crash was a secondary accident from the one listed above. The man was cited.

Wednesday, August 31

Child Abuse / Harassment: 4th Street, a man initially reported his fiancé assaulted him at this address on 08/18/22. Through investigation, he admitted to shaking their 8-month-old child and rolling on top of the child which led up to the initial disagreement. The man was booked.

Thursday, September 1

Fraud / Suspicious Circumstances: Mountain Avenue, a credit union called and stated a young girl lost her wallet in Longmont, and someone used her debit card. Later that same day a man called the credit union and stated he found this girls wallet and wanted her information to meet with her. No information was given by the credit union, but they did get his phone number. Deputies met with the man and retrieved the wallet and Longmont PD is investigating him for the debit card use. Wallet returned to the owner. Give me a young girls information so I can meet with her. Ain’t going to happen pal! Where’s Dateline’s Chris Hansen when you need him?

Friday, September 2

DUI / Speeding / Open Container: Hwy 287, a driver was stopped for doing 90 MPH in a 65 MPH zone. Refused roadsides. Blood draw and booked. A speeding drunk, nothing bad could happen here.

Eluding /Motor Vehicle Theft /Burglary / Driving Under Revocation:  / Expired Plates / Reckless Driving: 3800 E HWY 56, a male driver and an unknown female passenger eluded in a black 99 GMC Jimmy. Pursuit was terminated on southbound I25. The male suspect was observed approaching other vehicles in the Loves parking lot in what appeared to be a narcotics exchange prior to the pursuit. The man has 3 warrants out for his arrest also. Another warrant is forthcoming.

Saturday, September 3

Vehicle Crash / Hit & Run / Following Too Close / No Valid Driver’s License: N Berthoud Parkway / Hwy 287, a driver collided into the back of another vehicle at this intersection. The man left the scene and drove through multiple neighborhoods trying to lose the other driver who was following him. The man was stopped by deputies and lo and behold he did not have a valid Driver’s License. He was cited. 

Fictitious Plates: 3800 E Hwy 56, a female driver was contacted for fictitious plates on her vehicle. Summons issued.

Sunday, September 4

Driving Under Revocation – Habitual Traffic Offender / Speeding: Hwy 287 / County Road 8, a male driver was stopped for speed and found to be Revoked – HTO. The man was cited and provided with a Proof of Service of the status of his license. 

Verbal Disturbance: 8th Street, one of our frequent flyers was yelling at patrons in a Business at this location. The man left on foot with his dog and when deputies attempted to speak to him, he just yelled profanities at them and continued to walk away.

Habitual Traffic Offender: 3800 Hwy 56, a male driver was contacted on a traffic stop and found to be a Habitual Traffic Offender. Booked. 

Felony Warrant / Possession of Schedule I & II / Paraphernalia / Fictitious Plates: 3800 E HWY 56, a man and woman were contacted in a truck with stolen number plates. A search found methamphetamines & paraphernalia. The woman had a felony warrant and was transported to the Weld County Jail. Theman was cited and released on scene.
