Monday, March 2

Suspicious Circumstances: 800 block of Franklin Avenue, a resident believes that in February someone changed her social security check deposit from her account to an unknown account. After speaking with both banks the issue appears to be with Social Security.

Injured Animal: An injured black cat was turned over to Animal Control.

Driving Under revocation/Uninsured Vehicle/Warrant Arrest: Hwy 287 & Hwy 56, a 23-year-old man was contacted because the plate on his vehicle did not list to that vehicle. The driver had two warrants for his arrest and his license was revoked.

Assist to Adult Protection: A Social Worker from Mckee Medical Center called to report an 85-year-old woman was admitted with dehydration issues and a few sores and injuries that had not been treated.

Family Problems: A man and woman got into an argument about their kids.

Criminal Mischief: 1000 block of N CR-17 was recently vacated and abandoned. A call from previous occupant stated that when he drove by he noticed a couple of the windows were broken out. It is unknown who the current owners are to close up the house.

Tuesday, March 3

Vehicle Trespass: 300 block of Mountain Ave, a resident reported someone entered her unlocked vehicle and stole her iPod and a bottle of prescription pills.

Berthoud Municipal Violations: Mountain Avenue & 4th Street, a 19-year-old man was observed taking a black prescription bottle out of his bag and hiding it in his coat pocket. A small amount of marijuana was inside.

Vehicle Accident: 4th Street and Mountain Avenue, a 22-year-old man was driving East through town and his vehicle drifted into a parked car.

Animal Noise Ordinance: 300 block of 4th Street. – Two dogs had access to the residence but would stand outside and bark. Neighbors called and the deputy could also hear the dogs barking for over 1/2 hour while in the area.

Open Door: A deputy observed a that Berthoud business had left their doors open after hours. The owner was notified and returned to secure the building.

 Warrant Arrest: Meadowlark Lane & Hwy 56, a 23-year-old man was contacted and had an active warrant for theft.

 Wednesday, March 4

Turned Over Firearm: At the Town Hall, a 36-year-old man turned over his Winchester rifle to deputies per court order.

Abandoned Vehicle: 20700 SE Frontage Road, Deputy observed a vehicle that had been tagged as abandoned by Colorado State Patrol. The driver’s side curtain air bags had been deployed and the trunk was wide open.

Suspicious Circumstances: S. Highway 287, a 43-year-old man called to report that his vehicle was getting repossessed and he and the crew had been involved in an altercation.

Suspicious Person/Warrant Arrest: West CR 8, a 25-year-old man was called in as a suspicious person in the area. The man was seen in the rear passenger seat of a vehicle leaving the area. The vehicle was stopped and the man was arrested for an assault warrant out of Weld County.

Harassment/False Imprisonment/Domestic Violence: 400 block of Massachusetts Avenue, a man reported that he and his wife were involved in an altercation.

Saturday, March 7

Assist Medical: CR 8 & Hwy 287: a female driver was driving south on Hwy 287 and had a serious medical issue. The woman stopped in the lane of traffic with her foot on the brake. Deputy was able to get her car in to park.

3rd Degree Assault/Domestic Violence: 1600 block of Oak Drive, an out of town couple were in a physical altercation.

Monday, March 9

Suspicious / Warrant Arrest: A neighbor called in a vehicle near his driveway that he thought was abandoned. The 30-year-old owner was contacted a short distance away from the vehicle near a friend’s home. He was taken into custody without incident and booked into the jail on his active warrant.

Tuesday, March 10

Theft: 2000 block of Clayton Place, an employee was taking a nap in the break room at his place of work. He believes that the employee who woke him up took his $1200 wedding ring off his finger as he was sleeping.

Suicidal Statements: A woman called in a welfare check on her ex-boyfriend because he had been sending text messages about possibly hurting himself. A check of his residence showed he had left the residence on foot. Multiple sheriffs’ units helped canvas the neighborhood. The man was located he was safe and OK.

Driving Under Restraint / Displayed Fictitious Plates: Welch Avenue & 2nd Street, a 37-year-old man contacted. Records showed his license was cancelled/denied for an unpaid ticket. The license plates on the vehicle he was driving also registered to another vehicle he owned.

Found Property: A found wallet was returned to the owner.

Assist to Child Protection Services/Welfare Check: 900 block of 6th Street, information from Child Protection was that an interview was done with a juvenile. They requested a follow-up welfare check at the home.

Friday, March 13

Civil Disturbance: 100 block of S. 2nd Street, a 37-year-old was caught going into someone’s barn and taking chemicals. The man was confronted by the home owner’s son and the man dropped the chemicals and left. The chemicals are in dispute over who the true owner is.

Theft: 300 block of Massachusetts Avenue, a business owner reported that within the past two days someone stole a multicolored lioness head that fits on top of a 35 gallon trash can that sits in front of his business.

Possession of Schedule I Drugs / Obstruction / Third Degree Assault / Unlawful Use of Controlled Substance: 300 block of East Colorado Avenue, a 25 year-old-woman called 911 and would not tell dispatchers what the issue was. Upon deputies making contact with her, it was evident she was under the influence of an unknown controlled substance. A search for weapons yielded a baggie with 21.2 Grams of suspected ecstasy. During the medical clearance she assaulted a hospital security guard.

Ordinance Warning: 700 block of 6th Street, a resident was issued a written warning for her barking dog

Careless Driving: Turner Avenue & 2nd Street, an 18 year-old-driver thought it would be “funny” to swerve at 3 small kids walking across the street. Big problem was the kid’s parents were on the other side of the street and observed this.

Sunday, March 15

Theft: 600 block of Capitol Avenue, a resident reported a former roommate stole her jewelry box and cash from her wallet.

Vehicle Accident/ Hit and Run: Hwy 287 & CR 17, a vehicle was stopped at the light and was rear ended by a black Chrysler Sebring. Both drivers got out and looked at the damage. The male driving the Sebring stated he did not see any damage to either vehicle and drove away. There was damage to the rear ended vehicle.

Family Problems: 200 block of Common Drive, resident is concerned about disturbing statements made by a family member, who lives in different city in Colorado.

Criminal Mischief/Attempted 1st Degree Trespass: 300 block of Massachusetts, a resident reported that someone attempted to break into his Ford Explorer. Minor damage to rear lift gate.

Tuesday, March 17

Citizen Assist: 800 block of Mountain Avenue, a business owner called to report that a 39-year-old man had possibly written a fraudulent check. After investigation that the check was not fraudulent but bounced because of an error on the man’s part.

Suspicious Incident/Criminal Mischief: Holleyberry Avenue & 16th Street, while on patrol the deputy observed a lamppost that appeared to have been struck by a vehicle.

Wednesday, March 18

Neighbor Problems: 200 block of 2nd Street, a 59-year-old man reported an 11-year-old boy was running a stolen bicycle “chop shop” from the shed. Deputy contacted the juvenile and two other boys who were repairing a BMX bike tire in the front yard. Bike was not stolen.

Theft: 100 block of Bunyan Avenue, a resident reported her purse was stolen from a bar last night.

Criminal Mischief: 200 block of S. 1st Street, unknown person damaged two reflectors and broke a rope fence causing 20 dollars worth of damage.

Motor Vehicle Accident – Medical Issue: 10th Street & Welch Avenue – Information was received about a possible REDDI report and was located involved in a single vehicle accident with a tree on Welch. Driver was found wandering around the car wash. It was believed that the driver lost conscientiousness due to a medical issue

Burglary: 3900 block of W CR10, a resident reported that someone entered his shop building and stole a rifle.

Driving Under the Influence/Driving Under the Influence of Drugs/Careless Driving: Hwy 287 & CR 10E, a 21-year-old man was called in as a REDDI report after hitting a couple speed limit signs. The man was highly intoxicated and showed signs of using marijuana.

Saturday, March 21

Vehicle Accident/Hit and Run/Driving Under the Influence of Drugs/Revoked License/Warrant: 300 block of 8th Street, a 30 year old man struck a parked vehicle at this location then left. The man drove home and called 911 to report he hit the vehicle and left because he did not have a valid driver’s license.

Criminal Mischief: Wilshire & Meadowlark Cr., a resident reported that he found damage to the US Postal Cluster Mailboxes at this location when he went to get his mail. The box for parcel packages had the door pried partially open.

Sunday March 22

Driving Under Revocation/Violation of Bond Conditions/Warrant: 700 block of 2nd Street, a 37-year-old male was contacted during a traffic spot and his license was found to be revoked. The male also had a misdemeanor warrant.

Escape: Deputy helped neighbors corral and contain a loose goat along Highway 56. During the apprehension, the goat convinced a donkey to jump the fence and make a break for it. The beast of burden went on a run through the cemetery and was cornered and also corralled. Donkey was led back to the “pen”.

Tuesday, March 24

Traffic Accident: CR 2E & Hwy 287, two car crash where a truck broadsided a Prius which had small children riding in car seats. The female driver of the Prius turned her car into the accident so the truck would not hit the back door where her children were riding. The truck got the worst of it and there were no injuries. We will never make fun of a Prius again.

Traffic Accident: Hwy 287 at CR 17, a 33-year-old man was traveling at a speed that did not allow him to stop safely when another driver drove his vehicle into the lane of travel.

Thursday, March 26

Theft: 1700 block of Wales Drive, a resident reported that a ring was stolen from her nightstand.

Possession/Consumption of Marijuana by an Underage Person: 800 block of 10th Street, 6 juveniles were contacted at this residence for smoking marijuana and charged.

Friday, March 27

Criminal Mischief/Domestic Violence/DUI: 800 block of Mount Massive Street, a woman reported that her 24 year old ex-boyfriend followed her home from Thornton, climbed onto the roof, removed the screen from her window, and then broke the pane of glass trying to contact her. He was located parked in his vehicle and was arrested.

Saturday, March 28

Traffic Accident: 2100 block of 1st Street, deputy, with lights flashing, stopped a vehicle for speeding. Two other vehicles were involved in an accident as the first car slowed down for the red and blue lights and the car following did not. The second driver received a citation.

Traffic Accident/Careless Driving: Weld CR 7 & Hwy 56 – a 21-year-old man was traveling north on Weld CR7 and forgot to stop at the intersection. He attempted to clear by accelerating through the crossing traffic. Another driver was traveling west into Berthoud and broadsided the truck as it crossed the intersection.

Neighbor Problems: 500 block of Redwood Circle, a resident called to complain about a neighbor driving a white Ford truck purposely speeding by his house and emitting an unusual amount of exhaust smoke. Plate given does not match what was given by the resident.

Monday, March 30

Possible Identity Theft: 1000 block of 3rd Street, a resident reported someone applied for a car loan through an online website (http://www.roadloans.com) and may have purchased a vehicle at Car Max in Denver

Domestic Violence/Harassment: 1400 block of Mt. Meeker, a resident reported his 36-year-old ex-wife has been sending him inappropriate messages and pictures and items in the mail.

Assist to Animal Control: a resident called to give away her newly acquired German Sheppard. After bringing the dog home it became aggressive towards her 3-year-old daughter and she was afraid to have the dog at the home.

Tuesday, March 31

Lost Property: 600 block of 4th Street, a resident thinks she left a bag with her wallet and other items at the Berthoud Laundromat. When she went returned the bag was gone. Bag and contents were located and returned.

Fourteen illegally parked vehicles; trailers were tagged for 72-hour tow.
