Berthoud Woman set to Report on Missionary Service in Florida

Summer Eland

Summer Eland, a Berthoud High School graduate of 2005 and founder of “A Touch of Summer” salon, returned this month from serving as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for 18 months in Florida. She will report of her service at two separate meetings in Berthoud, Sunday morning, October 17 – at 9:00 a. m. at the Berthoud Ward, and at 11:00 a. m. at the Twin Peaks Young Single Adult Ward. Both meetings are at the Berthoud LDS. Chapel at 550 Spartan Avenue. The public is invited to attend either meeting, and admission is free.


While at Berthoud High School, Summer participated in a wide range of activities including, BHS Show Choir, dancing, cooking, and volleyball. She is also a Seminary graduate, completing four years of before-school Seminary instruction through the LDS Church. Following high school she attended Hair Dynamics Education Center in Fort Collins and became a licensed cosmetologist. She worked at “A Touch of the Master’s Hands” hair salon in Berthoud before opening “A Touch of Summer” salon. She operated the business for nearly two years before accepting the volunteer missionary assignment for the LDS Church.

Summer is the daughter of Rex and Becky Eland of Berthoud.

While in Florida, Summer served in a variety of locations, including Boca Raton, West Palm Beach, Boynton Beach, Delray Beach, Coral Springs, and the Miami, Homestead Area. Her efforts were devoted to acquainting persons with the ministry of Jesus Christ. She notes that the experience has been very rewarding, commenting, “There is no greater joy than seeing people change their lives to be more like our Savior, Jesus Christ. I loved being a literal representative of Him. ”
