Denkai Animal Sanctuary appeal for help

[1]Denkai Animal Sanctuary is asking the general public for immediate assistance. We have until May 27th, according to the State Veterinarian’s PACFA office paperwork, to bring our 30 year old building up to code.

Since Denkai took over the former K-9 Bed & Biscuit facility and all if it’s rescue animals, not only have we been faced with renovating a 30 year old building per our State Veterinarian guidelines, we have also been working non-stop to find homes for the original 60 or so dogs and cats that have lived at this facility for anywhere from 4-8 years.

In just a month’s time, Denkai has found homes for nearly 30 of the original dogs and cats that spent years here. Donations and help from volunteers in the community have allowed us to re-build kennels, walls, repaint, clean drains, renovate the house on the property, clean and organize the food room and identify isolation areas for the animals.

The Colorado state veterinarian’s office PACFA inspector dropped in unannounced over a week ago for an inspection and gave Denkai a short deadline for yet more renovations.

Since this facility offers opportunities for play yards and outdoor runs for each dog, it is incredibly unique. This is something that is being phased out in Colorado and is not healthy emotionally or physically for ANY animal. This, however, is what is stopping us from gaining our needed license to operate from the State Veterinarians office. NEVER in the history of any inspection from them has this been brought up as an issue. It is now officially a violation and again was something we inherited when taking over this facility.

With this short turn-around in time mandated by the state, Denkai is desperate for funding to finalize our upgrades. We are also in need of volunteers to donate ANY amount of time they have to help us with the labor for said fixes, and daily animal care. A list of donations needed and tasks volunteers can help with can be found on the Denkai website. Or, volunteers can simply contact the owner of the shelter directly. info@denkaisanctuary.org [2]

Denkai is the largest no-kill rescue in Northern Colorado and cares about pets’ quality of life. Please consider making a cash contribution so that we can continue to make these needed repairs and care for the animals that need us so badly! This facility houses up to 80 animals at any given time. We also urge the general public to tour our wonderful facility and see firsthand the quality care given to pets. Without our license we cannot operate, therefore, we could not rescue community pets in need.

We can expect re-inspection after May 27 so our time frame is very limited and this is EXTREMELY URGENT.

Denkai Animal Sanctuary relies on adoption and donations to keep its doors open for man’s best friend and is a vital resource for the community. All adoptable dogs, cats, exotics and farm animals can be viewed at www.petfinder.com [3] or in person at the sanctuary or adoption center.
