New Northern Water Summer How-To Series Offers Insight
on Water Efficiency in Landscaping and Watering

BERTHOUD – Starting in April, Northern Water is offering a free how-to series of seminars on improving water efficiency in landscaping and watering. The midday seminars will cover a range of topics such as Xeriscape’s seven principles, lawn installation and maintenance, irrigation guidelines and cost-effective water conservation.

The seminars will run from 12:30 to about 1:15 p. m. on most Wednesdays from April 14 to Sept. 1 in Northern Water’s backyard, 220 Water Ave., Berthoud, CO 80513. Details are available at www.northernwater.org [2]. People can reserve a spot at registration@ncwcd.org [3] or 970-622-2220, although walk-ins are welcome.

“Northern Water staff members have gained a lot of useful knowledge about water efficiency in landscaping through their work, ” said Mary Hattendorf, water management and conservation specialist at Northern Water. “We want to share this information with area residents, landscaping professionals and conservation specialists to encourage and promote the smart use of water. ”

The seminars will be in Northern Water’s Conservation Gardens [4], a backyard area that is open to the public 24/7 and offers information on water conservation studies, an eight-plot Xeriscape demonstration plaza and a cell phone tour.
