Wilberta Smith Allen
September 25, 1919 – July 16, 2011
Wilberta Smith Allen passed away to be with the Lord on July 16, 2011. She was 91.
She was born on September 25, 1919 in Berthoud to Wilbur and Margaret (Smith) Allen and raised in Berthoud where the Bed and Breakfast now sits. She attended all Berthoud schools and graduated from Berthoud High School. Wilberta enjoyed school and was involved in many extracurricular activities, including basketball which was her favorite activity. She lived and raised her only son at the same residence. In 1976 she then sold the Berthoud residence where many family generations had lived their lives out in Berthoud.
Wilberta then moved to Longmont where she lived and enjoyed many years with family and friends. Wilberta loved cooking for loved ones and enjoyed gardening in her spare time. She enjoyed her last years in Windsor, CO.
Ms. Allen is preceded in death by her father and mother of Berthoud; a brother; her only son Le Roy Allen and his wife Ellen; their son, Wilberta’s grandson, Clifford Allen; several aunts and uncles and many cousins.
She is survived by one grandson, Kevin Allen and his wife Liz; one granddaughter, Thresa Sherwood; her husband, Donald Sherwood and their two children, Wilberta’s great-grandchildren, Darren and Brittney Sherwood; five stepdaughters and one step-great-great-granddaughter.
A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, July 25, 2011 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Interment at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery. Share condolences at www.ahlbergfuneralchapel.com [2] .
