Police Beat: June 18

Tuesday, June 9

• Berthoud Police responded to a reported theft of sodas, juices, and other miscellaneous drinks missing from a vending machine inside a laundromat. The machine appeared to have been shaken and tampered with by unknown suspects.
• Dispatch received a call concerning a barking dog in 800 block of Fourth Street. The concerned party has reported previous complaints of the same incident.
• A man walking in the area of Eighth Street and Mountain Avenue found a yellow and black Dewalt saw-all in the crosswalk. The man collected the lost property and notified police. He is interested in taking possession of the saw if the owner does not claim it. The appropriate paperwork has been filed and the found property has been transported to the police department    
• Police responded to, and notified the mother of, a juvenile who misused the emergency call number concerning an incident with other juveniles which occurred the previous day. The woman became concerned and went to speak with the parents of the other juveniles involved in throwing dirt at her son. Police had already responded to the incident and issued a warning. The parents of the juveniles involved became agitated when confronted by the woman at their home and proceeded to threaten her to get off their property.      

Wednesday, June 10

• An anonymous male caller reported the sighting of a silver vehicle pulling a Jayco fifth-wheel trailer southbound on County Road 17. The caller reported the driver did not have a driver’s license and the trailer has expired plates. No further information was left.  Police were unable to locate the vehicle.
• An unknown caller reported a grey truck speeding recklessly on Highway 56. Police were unable to locate the vehicle. 
• A woman in the 1000 block of Seventh Street requested advice concerning a civil matter about her dog being attacked and bitten by another dog. An officer handled the incident.
• Dispatch received an urgent late night call from a man about suspicious circumstances in progress on Columbine Circle. A gate was opened to a residence that backs to Berthoud Park. The trespasser was gone when police arrived.       

Thursday, June 11

• An officer gave a verbal warning to a man driving a motorcycle carelessly in the area of the 100 Block of Keep Circle.
• An abandoned vehicle registered to a Lafayette man was towed from the 300 block of E. Nebraska Street. The situation was handled by the police department. 
• A woman on the 500 block of Mountain Avenue reported a group of three kids skateboarding and playing a radio very loudly from their vehicle parked behind the medical center building. The young people were gone when officers arrived.
