Berthoud robotics teams claim VEX championship (slideshow)

They already were going to the world championship competition, but these three Berthoud High School robotics teams landed another win Saturday to add a fourth team to the mix.
In the final round Saturday of the 2012 Colorado VEX Robotics Championship, the alliance disqualified in the first match, toppled their opponents in the second and, thanks to a technicality, took the third.
The teams, an alliance of three different robotic teams, scored 29 to 23 in the last round that qualified them for the VEX Robotics World Championship Competition April 19-21 in Anaheim, Calif. The alliance consisted of Digital Storm, The Squishinators and Palladium — three of 36 teams to compete for the honor.
“It’s awesome we got to qualify another of our teams,” said Caleb Hammel, a 10th-grader on the Palladium team, at the end of the two-plus hours of elimination rounds at Thompson Valley High School, the host school for the event.
That team is The Squishinators. Critical Mass, Digital Storm and Palladium already qualified from previous robotics competitions. … Read More and view slide show.
