Ivy Stockwell Elementary Jazzy Choir Concert

By Thomas N.

From Journey to Carl Lee Perkins, The Beatles to Black Eye Peas, the Ivy Stockwell Elementary Choir Club entertained their audience with their Jazzy 2010 concert. The eclectic mix of songs spread across a wide range of genres gave a memorable performance. The children of the choir projected their voices with talent so that every word of every song could be understood just as easily as if listening to the real thing. During the choir’s rendition of Duke Ellington and Irving Mills’ classic, “It Don’t Mean a Thing,” the students energetically clapped to the beat, and in performing “Tonight’s Gonna Be a Good Night” by the aforementioned Black Eye Peas, they whistled with enthusiasm.

The Choir is composed of students in the fourth and fifth grades and led by Music Specialist Mark Johnson. The students practice every Thursday after school.
