Launch of Loveland  fire authority discussed

Officials from Loveland’s city and rural fire departments discuss the Jan. 1 launch of the Loveland Fire Rescue Authority on this month’s“Loveland’s Talking” show on cable TV channel 16.  The program is also available on the City of Loveland YouTube channel.

Establishment of the fire authority will end the current contractual agreement between Loveland Fire & Rescue and the Loveland Rural Fire Protection District.  Instead, the two organizations will work together under the financial and governance leadership of the Loveland Fire Rescue Authority.

The guests explain that while the change in organizational structure under the fire authority will be virtually invisible to the community it serves, the long-term benefits will be recognizable.  The establishment of the authority will bring financial efficiencies and stability that will result in improvements to fire staffing, equipment and response abilities.

The four guests explain that the new fire authority was researched, planned and approved by citizens, fire personnel, advisory boards and Loveland City Council during the past three years.

“Loveland’s Talking” is the featured show on channel 16’s Programs of Interest segment. This month, the segment also includes two programs on very different topics.

Individuals who are working hard to recover from substance abuse and mental health disorders are featured on “Road to Recovery,”produced by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The program’s overriding message is that prevention works, treatment is effective and people can and do recover.

Judy Collins, a famous singer and alcoholic in recovery, sings Amazing Grace in this moving account of addiction and recovery in America.

“The Ten Worst Toys” by Boston TV’s “About Health” describes how unsafe toys get manufactured and end up in the hands of children. The program helps consumers know what to look for when purchasing toys and also explores some harder-to-diagnose dangers such as leadcontent in toys.

Programs of Interest is presented every month on Loveland cable TV channel 16:

Sundays at 8 a.m., 3 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Mondays at 3 a.m. and 8 a.m.
Wednesdays at 4 p.m.
Thursdays at 4 a.m.
