Date: 12/15/2011 Four inmates have been charged in connection with a disturbance in the high security area of the Larimer County Jail on November 20, 2011 which resulted in a lockdown of the entire facility, the activation of the Jail's Special Emergency Response Team and a K-9 to be brought into the facility. Disturbance at Larimer County Jail
At approximately 7:00 p.m. last night, four inmates in the high security area of the Larimer County Jail engaged in a disturbance causing the jail's Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) to be activated and a K-9 unit to be brought into the facility. The four inmates threw fecal matter throughout the common area and flooded their cells, which then caused flooding in the common area. Jail Deputies Discover Weapons
Date: October 5, 2011 Larimer County Jail deputies successfully ended a plot by inmates making sharpened metal pieces, commonly known as shanks. Yesterday, while on a routine check in one of the outdoor recreation areas, a Larimer County Jail corporal heard the distinct sound of metal scraping on concrete coming from another recreation area. Jail Crowding
Due to overcrowding at the Larimer County Jail, officials were recently forced to reconfigure several housing areas to accommodate the growing number of female inmates. Jail officials converted a special male housing area over to female housing to relieve some of the overcrowding and insure the safety and care of the inmates.
