Bands of Berthoud in the park

Priority 5 singers opened the days festivities on Saturday morning. Most of the group are Berthoud Show Choir graduates.

It turned out to be a beautiful day in Fickel Park, great weather for a day of music as the Bands of Berthoud performed from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The audience was treated to 11 hours of almost continuous music provided by local musical groups. Many brought lawn chairs and settled in for several hours in the park.

Technically, not all the groups were bands. The opening act of the Priority 5 is a singing group with recorded music and Burke Swinger and Brandon Sipes are solo acts, still the name gets the point across that these are all local talent.

The Bands of Berthoud event was the idea of Bob Towles, who handled the mixing and audio controls all day.

Saturdays event was a fund raiser for Berthoud Cares, the organization that reaches out to help individuals and families in need in the Berthoud Area.

The five gallon donation jug had over $500 and the auction of a guitar signed by all the day’s performers brought a bid of $180, but the purchaser dropped check for much more than the bid amount.

There was an ebb and flow of audience all day, but by evening most of the crowd seemed to settle in to stay in the park until the end.
