Incident activity for July 2012

Monday, July 2

BFPD responded to a commercial fire alarm at Berthoud Living Center. There were no signs of fire.  The detector had activated from excessive air freshener being used close to the alarm.  The alarm was reset and the crew returned to base.

BFPD responded to aide Loveland Fire with a medical call for a truck driver found deceased in his truck.

BFPD responded to a reported motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 249. This was a two-vehicle accident. The crew assisted TVEMS with transporting one patient for injuries and assisted with cleaning up debris and spilled fluids.

BFPD responded to a report of power lines arching on a tree limb on S County Road 23E.  Poudre Valley REA was responded and the fire crew directed traffic.

Tuesday, July 3

BFPD responded to a reported grass fire on Interstate 25 between mile markers 253 and 254.  A 30 foot by 150 foot grass fire with one to two foot flame lengths was slowly moving in the grass area. The crew assisted Johnstown fire with extinguishment and cleanup.

BFPD searched the area for a reported fire on Interstate 25 between mile markers 245-252.  Nothing was found.

Thursday, July 5

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call at the Berthoud Living Center. The patient was transported.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with lifting a patient at the Berthoud Living Center.

BFPD responded to a medical call on Martingale Drive.

BFPD responded to a medical call on 2nd St. for a person with a head injury from a fall.  The fire crew assisted TVEMS with the loading the patient to be transported.

Friday, July 6

BFPD responded to a two-vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 249. There was minor damage to the vehicles and there were no injuries reported. The crew helped with traffic control.

BFPD responded to a small grass fire in and around a single row of trees on West County Road 4E. The crew extinguished the fire on two trees and the remaining grass area. During clean up the crew discovered the origin of the fire; a transformer had been damaged by a squirrel. Poudre Valley REA was notified and responded to the scene.

Saturday, July 7

BFPD responded to the Valley Dirt Rider tract for an injured male with a possible femur fracture in his right leg. The crew assisted TVEMS with loading the patient for transport.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 250. Both vehicles had minor damage and there were no injuries reported. The crew assisted with traffic control.

BFPD was dispatched with Loveland Fire to the report of a structure fire, a single family residence on Gilpin Ave. in Loveland. There was no fire, just smoke from a nearby fireplace.

BFPD responded to a reported grass fire in a field near Branding Iron Way.  The crew was unable to find any fires in the area.

Sunday, July 8

BFPD responded to a medical call on Weld County Road 3.

Monday, July 9

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on Sioux Drive.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on West County Road 4. A man had fallen in his driveway and sustained a head injury. The patient was transported.

Tuesday, July 10

BFPD responded to a request by a citizen to check levels of carbon monoxide in their residence on Cabestro Street. The crew checked the residence and did find slightly elevated levels in the home. The gas utilities were shut off and the owners were advised to have the appliances checked by a technician before the gas was turned back on.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call at the Berthoud Living Center. The patient was transported.

Thursday, July 12

BFPD responded to a report of a grass fire at the Berthoud Shooting Range. The crew found a 20’ by 20’ grass fire with 3’ flames. The firefighters extinguished the fire and there was no equipment or structural damage.

BFPD responded to a residential fire alarm on Munson Court. It turned out to be a false alarm; the detector was accidentally set off by the homeowner.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on Second Street. A diabetic patient was taken to the hospital.

Friday, July 13

BFPD responded to a reported motorcycle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 249. The rider was not injured and there were no other vehicles involved.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on Gateway Park Lane.

BFPD responded to a single car rollover accident on County Road 10E. Two people were involved and both had minor injuries.

BFPD responded to a report of a grassfire near Blue Mountain Road. The crew was unable to find a fire and it was determined that a yellow yard light had appeared to look like a fire.

Saturday, July 14

BFPD responded to Sixth Street for a medical call.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Weld County Road 1. One vehicle was on its top with no one inside. The driver was out of the vehicle uninjured.

BFPD assisted TVEMS on Mountain Avenue for a person having chest pains.

BFPD responded to a medical call on Indiana Avenue.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Highway 287. There was no one in the vehicle, which had minor damage.

Sunday, July 15

BFPD responded to a report of smoke in the area of Second Street. The smoke coming was coming from a resident having a fire on their patio. The residents were informed of the fire restrictions.

BFPD responded to a reported medical call on Victoria Street.

BFPD responded to a medical call on Fourth Street. This was an accidental medical alert activation.

 Tuxedo, the old paint horse the firemen from Station #2 helped get up a couple months ago, laid down his last time on this evening. Farewell old friend. Thanks to BFPD for giving us a little more time with him.   Editor

Monday, July 16

BFPD responded to a dive call at Carter Lake North Pine Marina.  When the crew arrived, they found that there was no longer an emergency and the boat that had reported the problem had been pulled to shore.

BFPD responded with Loveland Fire to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 252. This was a three-vehicle accident with mild to moderate damage to the vehicles. There were two injured passengers but both refused transport. The fire crew assisted with traffic control and cleanup.

Tuesday, July 17

BFPD responded to a medical call at the Berthoud Living Center. The fire crew assisted TVEMS with loading the patient to be transported.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call for a bee sting reaction at the Berthoud Library.

Wednesday, July 18

BFPD responded to a motorcycle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 249. The rider was injured and was taken to the hospital.

Thursday, July 19

BFPD assisted with a walk in medical call at Fire Station 1. TVEMS responded and the patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a single vehicle accident on WCR 48. An SUV was partially submerged in an irrigation ditch with two occupants still inside the vehicle and two occupants who had self-extricated. One patient was transported. The Berthoud dive crew assisted with removing the vehicle from the water.

BFPD responded to a report of a grass fire at Weld County Road 3 and East Highway 56. The crew searched the area and was unable to find any signs of fire. They determined the probable cause to be dust due to high winds.

BFPD responded to a gas odor/leak outdoors near the intersection of N. CR 21 and W. CR 8. The source of the odor was found to be a natural gas well that appeared to be burning off gas through its pressure relief valve.

Friday, July 20

BFPD responded to a single vehicle accident on Highway 60. The vehicle had hit a cow in the roadway. The vehicle sustained heavy damage and the driver sustained multiple cuts from the broken glass. There was no report on the condition of the cow.

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call on County Road 6 for a person having chest pains. The patient was transported.

Monday, July 23

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call on First Street for injuries due to a fall.

Tuesday, July 24

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical call on 8th Street. The patient was transported.

Wednesday, July 25

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 249. A vehicle had rolled into a ditch and was resting on its roof. The driver sustained minor injury.

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 248. There were no injuries or hazards.

Friday, July 27

BFPD responded with TVEMS to a medical emergency on Weld County Road 38 for an infant newborn that was not breathing. The patient was transported.

BFPD responded to a motorcycle accident at the intersection of W. County Road 8E and Schofield Road. The motorcycle was found in the ditch on the south side of the roadway. The driver sustained injuries and was transported.

Saturday, July 28

BFPD responded to a medical call on Second Street.

Sunday, July 29

BFPD responded with TVEMS for a medical call on Ninth Street. The patient was transported.

Monday, July 30

BFPD assisted a citizen who had fallen on W. County Road 6.

BFPD responded to a residential fire alarm on 5th St. The crew found no signs of fire and the homeowner reported that the alarm had activated from cooking and there was no fire. The crew reset the alarm.

BFPD assisted TVEMS with a medical call on Weld County Road 38. The patient was experiencing breathing problems was taken to the hospital.

Tuesday, July 31

BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of County Road 27E and County Road 8E. A vehicle was found on its side off the west side of County Road 27E. The driver was out of the vehicle and uninjured.
