Fire Beat: April 30, 2009
Monday, April 20 BFPD responded to a vehicle fire on Interstate 25 @ mile marker 251. A single vehicle was found with a working fire mostly contained to the engine compartment with minor extension into the passenger compartment. Most of the property inside the vehicle was salvaged. There were no injuries involved in this incident. The cause of ignition is under investigation. Monday, April 13 BFPD responded to a Berthoud Police request for medical assistance on Hubble Street. The fire crew assisted TVEMS with transporting the patient. Tuesday, April 14 BFPD assisted with a medical call on Sixth Street. The patient was transported. Wednesday, April 15 BFPD responded to a three-vehicle accident on Interstate 25 @ mile marker 250. Tuesday, April 7 BFPD responded to a reported outside gas leak near Mountain Avenue and Meadowlark Lane. This was a three-inch natural gas line that was leaking natural gas into an open field. Xcel Energy was notified and responded. BFPD assisted with a medical call on Sundown Court. The patient was transported. BFPD assisted mutual aide with Loveland Fire on a motor vehicle accident on S. Monday, March 30 BFPD responded to a motor vehicle accident on Highway 287 and First Street. There was minor damage to the vehicle and there were no injuries. BFPD found a single car accident on Interstate 25 at mile marker 253. The vehicle was on its side, there were no injuries. BFPD responded to 42nd Avenue for a smoke investigation. Monday, March 23 BFPD assisted with a medical call on S. CR 17 for a sick person. The patient was transported. Tuesday, March 24 BFPD responded to a call for carbon monoxide on Fourth St. Upon arrival the carbon monoxide levels were found to be elevated due to a malfunction in the fireplace. Monday, March 16 BFPD assisted Berthoud Police with a hazardous material spill on 5th and Mountain. BFPD responded to a wildland fire entering in the area of Parrish Ranch Road. This wildland fire covered approximately 13 acres in the Rabbit Mountain Open Space. Berthoud responded with Hygiene and Boulder County Task Force. Incident Activity for March 2-8 Monday, March 2, 2009 BFPD reported to a wildland grass fire on WCR 8 and NCR 23 for an uncontrolled burn. Upon arrival, crews found a ditch that had been burning and was now extinguished. The owners were extinguishing the fire after learning there was a red flag warning for the day due to high winds.
