Lady Spartans Dominate Patriot League Track Championships

Boys team Finishes in Sixth Place By Dan Karpiel Sports Writer The Berthoud girls track and field team continued their outstanding 2011 season at the Patriot League Championships hosted at Platte Valley High School on Friday afternoon. The Lady Spartans took first place in team competition with 152.50 points, winning six separate events. The boys team finished in the middle of the pack in sixth place after tallying 60.50 points. Huskies over Spartan boys

Despite 16 points by Zach Ruebesam and 13 by Greg Hutchins, the Spartans fell to the Huskies 59-44. The Spartans played well the second half, staying with in one point in the scoring. Unfortunately, a disastrous first half  had the Berthoud High team down by 14 points a the half. The Spartans were unable to make up the deficit. Box score and stats below

Ouch: Berthoud boys 36, Valley 68

Zach Ruebesam led the scoring with 14 points, but with the team only managing 19 percent on their 2-point shots and 24 percent outside the 3-point line it just wasn't enough.

Lady Spartans win ugly game 39-30 By Dan Karpiel Sports Writer In a peculiar game that saw the two teams combine for 25 points in the second period and then only two in the third, the Berthoud Spartans girls basketball team topped the Strasburg Indians 39-30 in the Berthoud High gym on Tuesday evening. Berthoud Boys Basketball Tops Lyons

Spartans Sink Ten 3-pointers in 64-45 win By Dan Karpiel Sports Writer Friday night in the Berthoud High School gym the Berthoud boys basketball team won their third game of the season with a 64-45 victory over Lyons. The Spartans sank ten three pointers and went 16/16 from the free-throw line to notch their first victory against a 3A Patriot League opponent. Berthoud Boys drop game to Mead

Zack Ruebesam scored 16 points in Berthoud's 47-55 loss to the Mead  Mavericks. The Spartans  are now 2-6 overall and 0-1 in league play. Berthoud edged out Thompson Valley 52-48, improving their record on the season to 2-4.
