Crystal Fire: A resident’s story

By Ardella Hawks formerly of Loveland and Berthoud I saw smoke five miles west of my house up Buckhorn Road on Friday evening. Emergency responders kept going up the road throughout the day. On Saturday the fire burned all day, moving east with wind gusts of 70 mile per hour. Everything happened so fast, and before we knew it, the fire was on the ridge south of our house. At midnight we got the reverse 911 call. We were so grateful that our Pastor, Kelly Wheat, and his wife showed up at 1 a.m. ... Full Story

  Larimer County Sheriff's Office Press Release   April 2, 5 p.m. The Crystal Fire in Larimer County remains at about 20 to 25 acres with approximately 25% to 30% containment. Again this afternoon, winds remained relatively calm providing firefighters an opportunity to continue to contain the fire. One structure, containing an ATV and a motorcycle, was destroyed earlier today. The vehicles were also destroyed. No additional structures are threatened at this time and no evacuations ... Full Story
