UPDATE – Unattended Death at Berthoud High School
On November 4, 2016, the Larimer County Coroner’s Office released a statement identifying the deceased male as 15-year-old Joshua J Francis of Berthoud. The coroner’s office determined cause of death was a gunshot wound of the head and the manner of death was suicide. LCSO investigators continue to conduct interviews and collect historical data involving this case in hopes of possibly identifying a motive for this tragic event. LATEST INFORMATION This will be the last daily flood update as operations enter the recovery phase; however, we will continue to publish information as needed. The National Guard completed their assignments in Larimer County as of today. The checkpoints they have been staffing were turned over to the Sheriff's office. Crystal Fire Update
Larimer County Sheriff's Office Press Release April 2, 5 p.m. The Crystal Fire in Larimer County remains at about 20 to 25 acres with approximately 25% to 30% containment. Again this afternoon, winds remained relatively calm providing firefighters an opportunity to continue to contain the fire. One structure, containing an ATV and a motorcycle, was destroyed earlier today. The vehicles were also destroyed. No additional structures are threatened at this time and no evacuations ... Update on Berthoud Suicide
Richard Vivez's body was discovered by an overnight guest at his residence at 506 Welch Avenue, Berthoud, Colorado. When Berthoud Officer Vasquez responded to the complaint of a barking dog, the guest contacted the officer to inform him about the deceased. The initial investigation indicates that the the probable cause of death was from self inflicted injuries. the police press release does not indicate the type of injuries.
