  The annual community Help Kids Succeed school supply drive is under way for students in need. This year, the drive will provide 1,300 backpacks filled with supplies to students in the Thompson School District. Three military mothers started a local support group for each other and for their families. Laural Downer and Beth Sterck are the founding members and as one of their first projects, they want to send packages to local service men and women serving overseas. Alex Sabados and his parents put up a valiant battle against Alex’s brain tumors. They lost the battle and we lost Alex. However, the fight was expensive and took is toll on the family.
