Boom town Berthoud?

Berthoud on the verge of real estate boom?

According to a recent article in the Norther Colorado Business Report and a corresponding interview on KUNC radio that is the case. The article says, among other things, that construction will begin on the Safeway store next year, with an opening in 2012. That was certainly news to Mayor Tom Patterson. He has seen no change in conditions that would warrant a change in Safeway’s plans and he has certainly not been informed by the company or their agents that construction is going forward.

In regards to the building boom in Berthoud, only two houses have been built recently, one of those is the Habitat for Humanity house on north Fourth Street. The article and interview have raised more than a few eyebrows in Berthoud. Do they know something that no one in Berthoud is aware of?
