Berthoud Veterans place flags at cemetery

Bundled against the weather, the local veterans line the fence of Greenlawn Cemetery with flags

Berthoud Lions Club veterans did not let the weather deter them from putting up flags at the Greenlawn cemetery in honor of Veterans Day. The twice-yearly event (Memorial Day and Veterans Day) has been done for so many years that none of the participants can remember when it started. Curtis Wilson said he may have been in the original group, but couldn’t be sure. He did remember that the flagpoles were purchased, indicating that he may well have participated in the inaugural posting of the flags.

The crew that shows up early in the morning are all veterans themselves and take pleasure in erecting the row of Flags.

This day Curtis Wilson, John Erickson, Sam MacDonald, Bob Tally, Mike Waldo, John Beck and Gary Wamsley took part of their morning in honor of all veterans.
