Gov. Hickenlooper orders flags lowered Friday
in honor of Col. Leo Boston DENVER — Thursday, July 14, 2011 — Gov. John Hickenlooper today ordered flags be lowered to half-staff on all public buildings statewide on Friday, July 15, in honor of Col. Leo S. Boston. Flags should be lowered from sunrise to sunset. Col. Boston was the pilot of an A1 Skyraider aircraft that was on a search-and-rescue mission in North Vietnam on April 29, 1966, when it was reported missing. Col. Berthoud Veterans place flags at cemetery
Berthoud Lions Club veterans did not let the weather deter them from putting up flags at the Greenlawn cemetery in honor of Veterans Day. The twice-yearly event (Memorial Day and Veterans Day) has been done for so many years that none of the participants can remember when it started. Curtis Wilson said he may have been in the original group, but couldn’t be sure. Project America Run comes to Berthoud
July 15, 2010 Mike Ehredt is running across the United States, planting a flag every mile. The flags each have a ribbon with the name of a serviceman/woman killed in the Iraq war. 4,375 flags with 4,375 yellow ribbons along a route that measures 4,551 miles from Astoria, Washington to Rockland, Maine. Today he came to Berthoud. Ehredt is a U.S. Army veteran and a retired postal clerk from the town of Driggs, Idaho, population 1,100. Briggs is no stranger to endurance sports. According to the ...
