BHS Roundup: Own Goal, PK Doom Girls Soccer in Finale

By Michael Hicks Berthoud Recorder LONGMONT — It took only 54 seconds for Berthoud’s girls soccer season to end in an unceremonious fashion Thursday night. First, Berthoud booted in one to its own goal, then Longmont’s Bianca Valdez scored on a penalty kick left of Lady Spartans goaltender Lydia Munoz early in the first half in the Lady Trojans’ 3-0 victory at Everly-Montgomery Field. Police Beat: April 30, 2009

Tuesday, April 21 A woman reported a suspicious car near Town Park. The officer found a man who was early for an appointment and had stopped to talk on his cell phone. A vehicle ran into a pole at the A&W Restaurant. The only damage was to the car so the driver opted not to file a report. Wednesday, April 22 A call about a yellow Labrador retriever in the yard near Third Street and Mountain Avenue was cancelled when the owner picked up the dog two minutes later. Fire Beat: April 30, 2009

Monday, April 20  BFPD responded to a vehicle fire on Interstate 25 @ mile marker 251. A single vehicle was found with a working fire mostly contained to the engine compartment with minor extension into the passenger compartment. Most of the property inside the vehicle was salvaged. There were no injuries involved in this incident. The cause of ignition is under investigation. Tuesday, April 14 The Boulder County Sheriff’s department found some property near Ish Reservoir that may be connected to the burglary at the Habitat Thrift Store. Lots of people and loud music on S. Third Street at 9 p.m. caused a nearby resident to complain to the police that the party had just started and may get out of hand. Monday, April 13 BFPD responded to a Berthoud Police request for medical assistance on Hubble Street. The fire crew assisted TVEMS with transporting the patient. Tuesday, April 14 BFPD assisted with a medical call on Sixth Street. The patient was transported. Wednesday, April 15 BFPD responded to a three-vehicle accident on Interstate 25 @ mile marker 250. Robbery, Auto Theft Suspect Arrested in Montana

By Shari Phiel Berthoud Recorder Police in Sweet Grass, Mont., arrested 29-year-old Samantha Marie Ward on March 25 for driving a car reportedly stolen from Berthoud. The woman was picked up after police pulled her over for running a stop sign and upon checking the license plates, discovered the car had been reported stolen.
