Local Softball Star to Play at Colorado State By Dan Karpiel Sports Writer Berthoud High softball standout Danielle Wikre will be taking her talents north to Fort Collins next fall. On Tuesday night Wikre, a three-time All-Conference and 2010 All-State selection for softball, signed her letter of intent to play softball at Colorado State University. The Berthoud High School singers and actors are in the final stages of dress rehearsal for  the production of Cinderella. This particular version is the Rogers and Hammerstein play which was written for television and first appeared in 1957 featuring Julie Andrews as Cinderella. Two more television productions were done, the first in 1965 with Leslie Ann Warren as Cinderella and Ginger Rogers as the king. Berthoud Lions Club veterans did not let the weather deter them from putting up flags at the Greenlawn cemetery in honor of Veterans Day. The twice-yearly event (Memorial Day and Veterans Day) has been done for so many years that none of the participants can remember when it started. Curtis Wilson said he may have been in the original group, but couldn’t be sure. Berthoud: November 9, 2010 The Berthoud Trustees moved through their agenda quickly on Tuesday night, finishing the session in slightly over 45 minutes. Speaking in the Citizen Participation time, Lexi DiPentino and Laurel Downer told the board about their new group, Berthoud Military Family Support. Three military mothers started a local support group for each other and for their families. Laural Downer and Beth Sterck are the founding members and as one of their first projects, they want to send packages to local service men and women serving overseas.
