Republicans: Party of Rape
There has been a great deal of comment among Republicans on the subject of rape. See the accompanying articles. In all these comments, the onus seems to be put upon the woman. It is almost as if these Republican men blame the women for getting raped. Never have we heard them talk about the rapist. The obvious conclusion is that Republicans condon rape for the rapist (man) but not the victim (woman). On the other side of the Republican coin, is the attitude that sex is a sin and should ... Gardner: More Republican lies
In a press release to the editor (following) Cory Gardner uses an old technique to twist the truth, nay, even lie. He introduces as truth something which is not true or is only his opinion. Introducing such a statement is called using a “strawman.” After making the statement, in this case that the Obama administration discriminates against oil and gas, he then uses the statement to attack the administration. This seems to be a tactic of the current crop of Republicans. Since they do not ... Full Story
Mitt’s Most Shameless Lie
Mitt’s Most Shameless Lie By Gene Lyons People who lie a lot also tend to whine a lot, particularly when their prevarications are exposed. As a presidential candidate, Mitt Romney gives the impression of never having been in a fair fight. He’s remarkably thin-skinned for somebody in public life. Everybody expects politicians to embellish the truth, but Romney’s epic misrepresentations continue to astonish. Yet he appears flabbergasted that anybody’s allowed to talk ... Full Story
Romney Budget increases the deficit
These two videos clearly show why the "Ryan Budget" does not decrease the deficit or the national debt. Robert Reich Explains The Romney / Ryan Budget Plan This Lady Isn't Even Trying To Make Paul Ryan Look Dumb
Paul Ryan is not a great intellectual
Recently we were introduced to a 2005 recording of Paul Ryan addressing the Atlas Society, apparently a fan club for Ayn Rand. In it he outlines his belief that Social Security should be privatized and turned over to Wall Street. The amazing part of his comments was that he claimed that whenever he had a legislative issue that, he would return to Rand’s 1957 novel, Atlas Shrugged and re-read all 64 pages of John Galt’s radio address. Do you find it as ... Full Story
Romney: another big lie
4 Pinocchios for a truncated, 14-year-old Obama clip Just as we have not been very impressed about many of the Obama campaign’s claims about Mitt Romney’s business career many years ago, we were not initially that impressed with the Romney campaign’s effort to dredge up a 14-year-old quote to demonstrate that President Obama wants to “redistribute wealth.” The clip was so old — he was just a state senator — and the context was rather ... Is Team Romney to blame for Middle East violence?
It all seems too well timed. At a critical point in the campaigns, with Romney trailing in the polls, an inflammatory video insulting the Prophet Mohammad is placed on YouTube and demonstrations begin. Team Romney is listening in and cannot wait to make a statement and blame the president. Why did this happen just now? Why was Team Romney so closely monitoring the twitter account of the Egyptian Embassy? The answer may be found by following the money. Who ... Full Story
Obama not a Sociaist
Is Obama a Socialist? By Tom Head, About.com Guide Answer: Not by any definition of the term that mainstream socialists would consider acceptable. It's true that both the Bush and Obama administrations introduced government subsidies in industries that the government has not historically subsidized to the same extent, but this is not, strictly speaking, a socialist move because it does nothing to concentrate power over the businesses in the ... Mitt Romney, casino capitalist
Mitt Romney and the New Gilded Age By Robert B. Reich The election of 2012 raises two perplexing questions. The first is how the GOP could put up someone for president who so brazenly epitomizes the excesses of casino capitalism that have nearly destroyed the economy and overwhelmed our democracy. The second is why the Democrats have failed to point this out. The White House has criticized Mitt Romney for his years at the helm of Bain Capital, pointing to a ... Full Story
Living under the gun: Bill Moyers
Living Under the Gun At least 12 are dead in Aurora, Colorado, gunned down by a mad man at a showing of the new Batman movie filled with make-believe violence. One of the guns the shooter used was an AK-47 type, assault weapon that was banned in 1994. The National Rifle Association saw to it that the ban expired in 2004. The NRA is the best friend a killer's instinct ever had. See Video More ... Full Story
