DA clears officers in connection with fatal Berthoud shooting

Berthoud police Chief Glen Johnson was the first arriving officer to Haskew’s home shortly after 9 p.m. on Nov.8. Johnson said the wife had reported Haskew had been drinking and was initially refusing to let her leave. As Johnson arrived, Haskew’s wife and four young children left, but Haskew went inside and shut the door. Johnson then reported hearing multiple gunshots from inside the home. Haskew refused to come out, Abrahamson said, and his wife said he had multiple weapons inside. Johnson reported that Haskew’s wife had “observable physical injuries.” …
