September 11, 2011, 9 a.m to 2 p.m.   The Berthoud Fire Protection District will host a special memorial ceremony, open house, and picnic to honor the lives of those who fell on September 11, 2001. The Crystal Fire may be larger, but there was some excitement in Berthoud on Saturday afternoon as firefighters responded to a fire Pioneer Sand Company. David and Julie Dowen of Mead happened to be on had to takes some photos. According to Ms. Dowen, the desk clerk told her that a customer had come into the office and said, "Hey, your mulch is on fire." The call went out to Berthoud Fire who responded to cool things off. Berthoud Fire Protection District Incident Activity for July  2010 Friday, July 2 BFPD responded to a reported grass fire on Bruce Drive. A small fire in a homeowner’s back yard was extinguished. BFPD responded to a reported vehicle fire on Interstate 25 southbound lanes @ mile marker 253. Berthoud Fire’s Wildland Team Activated Press Release from Berthoud Fire Protection District Berthoud Fire Protection District’s Wildland Team was activated Friday afternoon in response to fires burning near Estes Park and Glen Haven.  Two crews of three were dispatched with one Type 3 and one Type 6 engines to the scene.   The type three has the capabilities of dispersing foam for the purpose of protecting structures, and for firefighting.  The type three and six are both four wheel ... Shortly after 5 p.m. on May 31, Berthoud fire responded to 4529 West County Road 4 where they found a motor home with the front engulfed in flames. The motor home was parked in the vicinity of the log home but the crew from Station #2 managed to keep the fire contained. However, It was not until another unit arrived from Station #1 to assist that fire fighters were able to extinguish the flames. Demolished Subaru at the northeast corner of the intersection of US Highway 287 and Mountain Avenue. Berthoud emergency personnel responded to a report of a four-car motor vehicle accident on US Highway 287 at State Highway 56 on Wednesday afternoon.
