  Larimer County Sheriff's Office Press Release   April 2, 5 p.m. The Crystal Fire in Larimer County remains at about 20 to 25 acres with approximately 25% to 30% containment. Again this afternoon, winds remained relatively calm providing firefighters an opportunity to continue to contain the fire. One structure, containing an ATV and a motorcycle, was destroyed earlier today. The vehicles were also destroyed. No additional structures are threatened at this time and no evacuations ... Home Invasion and Vehicle Theft, Loveland

Larimer County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the 200-block of Monroe Avenue in Loveland at approximately 4:30 p.m. yesterday (March 29) on the report of a home invasion and vehicle theft. The 48-year-old victim told deputies that two men entered his home, hit him with a club, threatened him and tied him to his bed.  The two men took several items from the home and also stole the victim's car.  The car, a 2006 Nissan 350Z, was later found by Fort Collins Police Services near the ... Man Dies in Glider Crash

At approximately 2:15 p.m. on Sunday, March 20, Larimer County Sheriff's deputies responded to the area of North County Road 7 and Aldridge Road on the report of a plane crash.  Upon arrival deputies discovered a glider crashed into the side of a hill in a ravine.  There was one occupant in the glider, a male in his late 70's or early 80's who was deceased. Grey Rock Fire (Hewlett Gulch)

March 18, 10:41 update The Grey Rock Fire is now 100% contained. The fire is estimated at 17 acres and is located approximately one mile south-southeast of Greyrock Mountain near the Poudre Canyon on the Roosevelt National Forest. Firefighters will focus on mop up activities today. The fire was human caused; however, the details are still under investigation. The fire did receive light snow. Date:     March 14, 2011 Larimer County Sheriff's Emergency Services crews are responding to an area near 8300 West Highway 14 for a wildfire.  The fire is reported to be in the Hewlett Gulch Area near Greyrock Meadows, due north of Poudre Park. The fire is estimated to be about one acre in size at this time. It is unknown at this point whether there are any structures in the area. Suspicious Male followed 11-year-old girl home March 10, 2011 On March 7 and March 8 at approximately 3:30 p.m., an 11-year-old female was walking from the 4000-block of Wilson Avenue in Wellington when she was followed to her residence by an unknown male. The female ignored the male and called her mother on her cell phone. The Larimer County Sheriff's Office  was notified on March 8 by the 11 year old and her mother. Arson Investigation March 1, 2011   Larimer County Sheriff's Office deputies were called to Vern's Trailer Park at 4220 West County Road 54G at approximately 10:30 p. m. on Sunday, February 27 on the report of a burning structure.  Deputies worked with the Poudre Fire Authority who extinguished the blaze; however, the trailer was a total loss.  No one was in the home at the time of the fire. Jail Crowding

Due to overcrowding at the Larimer County Jail, officials were recently forced to reconfigure several housing areas to accommodate the growing number of female inmates. Jail officials converted a special male housing area over to female housing to relieve some of the overcrowding and insure the safety and care of the inmates.  The male inmates in this housing area were either moved to the general population or to other areas that could accommodate their special needs, i.e. medical concerns.  ... Vehicle Break-Ins at Trailhead

The Larimer County Sheriff's Office has been receiving an increasing number of reports of vehicles parked at the Lion Gulch Trailhead parking lot being forcibly entered and items stolen by unknown individuals.  Stolen items include firearms, computers, iPods and wallets.
