  Following the suicide of a Turner Middle School eighth-grader in March there has been a great deal of talk about bullying in the Berthoud Schools. Tuesday saw two separate events about bullying. Thursday, July 1 Dog days at the Police Department. In the early morning, 2 a.m., the Loveland Report Herald driver brought in a Jack Russell Terrier. Water bubbling up in a field at SE Second Street and East Colorado Avenue was cause enough for a concerned citizen to report it to authorities. Police turned the matter over to the water department. Update on Berthoud Suicide

Richard Vivez's body was discovered by an overnight guest at his residence at 506 Welch Avenue, Berthoud, Colorado. When Berthoud  Officer Vasquez responded to the complaint of a barking dog, the guest contacted the officer to inform him about the deceased. The initial investigation indicates that the the probable cause of death was from self inflicted injuries. the police press release does not indicate the type of injuries. Berthoud Police investigate apparent suicide

The call came in as an animal noise complaint just before 8 a.m. The caller complained that a dog at 506 Welch Avenue had been howling and barking since 3:30 a.m. Officer Vasquez responded to the call and soon called dispatch requesting an ambulance and the assistance of Chief Glen Johnson. Shortly after arriving at the apartment on Welch, Chief Johnson called for the coroner.
