Two BHS Wrestlers Accused of Hazing
By Michael Hicks Berthoud Recorder Two Berthoud High School wrestlers were suspended after being accused of a series of alleged ongoing hazing incidents, according to school athletic director Rusty Mathena. According to wrestling coach Scott Pickert, Seniors Brandyn Wahlert and Saul Anderson were suspended -- one for five days and the other for 10. Timothy Holder Timothy Holder, aged 55, passed away Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008 at Campbell County Memorial Hospital in Gillette, Wyo., of natural causes. A funeral service for Timothy Holder was held on Friday, Dec. 19, 2008 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Gillette, Wyo., with Bishop Klamm officiating. Monday, Dec. 15, 2008 BFPD responded to Jay Place for an unconscious patient. The patient was revived and transported. BFPD was called to a structure fire on E. Highway 56. Upon arrival there was heavy smoke coming from the roof. Loveland Fire was called for assistance. The fire was extinguished and was thoroughly checked for further hot spots in the structure. Monday, Dec. 15 A silent holdup alarm that went off at 10 p.m. at a local business got police on the scene quickly, but the business appeared to be closed. Apparently, the owner set off the alarm and has now learned the difference between a holdup alarm and a burglar alarm. Tuesday, Dec. 16 Larimer County Sheriff’s deputies made seven traffic stops on County Road 19 and issued citations to all the motorists. Monday, Dec. 8 A young female customer at the Derby Grill left her purse on the back of her chair while she went to the lady’s room and the purse was missing when she returned. A call by a woman that someone had used her credit card at the Conoco Station led to quick action by Berthoud Police. Obituary: Francis James Brandt
Francis James Brandt, 89, of Berthoud, passed away Friday, Dec. 5, 2008 in Loveland, Colo. Brandt was born Nov. 2, 1919, in Moline, IL, to Frank and Anna Brandt and had a younger brother, George. They moved to the Louisville, Colo. area one year after his brother was born. He was raised farming in the area and, when World War II came along he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in October of 1942. He served his enlistment as an Aviation Aircraft Instructor in Norman, OK, and was honorably discharged from ... Full Story
