  County offices open in Loveland Dangerous, damaged tree limbs were removed from the front entryway of the 6th Street County building in Loveland today. The work was performed by the City of Loveland Light and Power Department. Schultz Industries will return Friday to clean up the leaves and small branches that remain. Help for Loveland seniors and disabled residents

      A pair of teams of Loveland Solid Waste Division employees this afternoon began initial safety and cleanup work for Loveland seniors and disabled residents who have requested assistance with tree limb issues resulting from this week’s storm. The crews will remove any hanging limbs they can safely reach from the ground in these residents’ yards. Seven City of Loveland crews are working with chain saws, front end loaders, dump trucks, pickups and bucket trucks to clear city streets and public right-of-way of fallen and overhanging branches.   Crews are first dealing with what appears to be the hardest hit area; from Taft to Boise between Eisenhower and First Street.   Small steps can make positive changes.  Is is time to change the batteries in smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors. Tragically, home fires kill 500 children ages 14 and under each year. In the U.S., almost two-thirds of home fire deaths resulted from fires in homes without working smoke alarms. Forty percent of the fatal fire injuries occurred in homes with no smoke alarms at all, while 23% occurred in homes in which at least one smoke alarm was present but failed to operate. The ...
