Larimer County Settles Fairgrounds Lawsuit

        Larimer County has resolved its lawsuit with the designers, manufacturers and builders of the metal buildings at The Ranch, Larimer County’s Fairgrounds. Larimer County will receive $14.8 million for a full release of all claims. The lawsuit stemmed from the December 2006 snowstorms that damaged the roof structures in the buildings. Subsequent forensic engineering studies of the buildings revealed that the buildings were under-designed and could not withstand the ... Disturbance at Larimer County Jail

At approximately 7:00 p.m. last night, four inmates in the high security area of the Larimer County Jail engaged in a disturbance causing the jail's Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) to be activated and a K-9 unit to be brought into the facility. The four inmates threw fecal matter throughout the common area and flooded their cells, which then caused flooding in the common area.         October 18, 2011 The Larimer County Sheriff's Office has experienced an increase in the number of reports of credit card fraud recently.  It is not yet clear what is causing this increase but a formal investigation is underway. Jail Deputies Discover Weapons

  Date:   October 5, 2011 Larimer County Jail deputies successfully ended a plot by inmates making sharpened metal pieces, commonly known as shanks.  Yesterday, while on a routine check in one of the outdoor recreation areas, a Larimer County Jail corporal heard the distinct sound of metal scraping on concrete coming from another recreation area.  Upon investigation, deputies discovered several inmates involved in trying to sharpen metal pieces approximately five to six inches in length ...
