Air Force falls to 12th-ranked Denver, 3-1
DENVER, Colo. -- Denver scored two power play goals and then added an even-strength goal with a minute left as the 12th-ranked Pioneers beat Air Force, 3-1, in the championship game of the 19th annual Denver Cup college hockey tournament, Saturday, Nov. 27, at Magness Arena in Denver. Air Force, who earned its first ever win in the Denver Cup last night against Clarkson, placed second in the tournament with a 1-1 record. Eagles Start Road Swing With Loss in Wichita
WICHITA, Kan. - The Colorado Eagles lost, 5-3, to the Wichita Thunder, splitting their weekend home-and-home series. Playing the third game in a row with just 14 skaters, the Eagles suffered from several lapses in dropping the first game of their first extended road trip of the season (four games over 13 days away from the Budweiser Events Center). Ulanski’s HT Helps Power Eagles Past Thunder
LOVELAND, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles defeated the Wichita Thunder, 7-5, at the Budweiser Events Center in the first game of a home-and-home set this weekend. Kevin Ulanski recorded a hat trick and Colorado's power play went 5-for-6 on the night to outlast the Thunder. It was the second game in a row that the Eagles dressed just 14 skaters. Air Force beats Clarkson, 2-1, in Denver Cup
DENVER, Colo. – Freshman Jason Torf made a career high 36 saves as Air Force beat Clarkson, 2-1, in the first game of the 19th annual Denver Cup college hockey tournament at Magness Arena in Denver. Air Force improved to 5-6-1 overall while Clarkson fell to 6-5-2. The win was Air Force’s first ever in the Denver Cup, snapping a 14-game losing streak in the tournament that was started in 1992. Falcon Basketball-Air Force 72, Wofford 66 in overtime
By Jerry Cross Athletic Communications Office Air Force Academy Evan Washington scored seven of his 14 points in overtime and Air Force shot 51 percent from the field as the Falcons won their first road game in nearly two years, defeating Wofford 72-66 Wednesday night in Spartanburg, S.C. The Falcons, who had not won a true road game since a 71-64 victory at Northern Colorado on Dec. 6, 2008, led the game for over 37 of the 40 regulation minutes and the last four minutes of the extra period. ... Broncos Fall in San Diego, 35-14
The Broncos started strong in their lone Monday Night Football appearance of the season but couldn't keep it going, falling to the San Diego Chargers, 35-14, at Qualcomm Stadium. Knowshon Moreno capped a 6-play, 69-yard opening drive with a 4-yard touchdown run. Behind Philip Rivers' four touchdown passes, San Diego responded by running off 35 unanswered points before Kyle Orton added a late touchdown pass to Brandon Lloyd. Local Softball Star to Play at Colorado State By Dan Karpiel Sports Writer Berthoud High softball standout Danielle Wikre will be taking her talents north to Fort Collins next fall. On Tuesday night Wikre, a three-time All-Conference and 2010 All-State selection for softball, signed her letter of intent to play softball at Colorado State University.
