The Muse Gallery, 356 Main Street, in downtown Longmont, announces EcoCreations in the WESTend gallery and all new work by our resident artists in the Main Gallery.
The Muse Gallery is a collaborative artist gallery in downtown Longmont where local artists display and sell their work. For the community, it is the Gallery where they can view and buy local art ranging from jewelry to abstract paintings. While the Muse is a member gallery not all members show at the same time, so each exhibition is fresh and new.
The WESTend is a dedicated space within the Muse Gallery created to provide a space for well known to emerging artists with a variety of themes. In 2011, the Muse Gallery will be celebrating its 10th year as the place for local artists!

2nd Annual EcoCreations – A juried exhibition of art made from recycled materials & found objects
Produce stickers, an old slip, a satellite dish, leaves, tin, and piano parts are just a few of the materials used to create the art in this year’s exhibition.
The Muse Gallery has collaborated with Eco-Cycle to produce an exhibition that asks artists to look beyond traditional art materials and focus on found objects and recycled materials. This is the second annual exhibition at the Muse Gallery. Entries came in from Longmont, Boulder, the Front Range, Wyoming, Texas and Seattle. The Muse Gallery exhibition committee along with guest juror Julie Hayes, EcoCycle’s Longmont Campaigns Coordinator selected the art for the 2011 exhibition.
There was a wide variety of entries and the jury looked at several criteria when selecting work. The first requirement was that the majority of the piece be created from recycled materials, they were then judged on the creativity of how the materials were used, quality and content. The jurors did not have an easy job. The exhibition features a wide variety of styles and interpretations of the recycled materials. The top cash prizes will be awarded at the opening reception on Friday, January 14, 2011 6-9 p.m.
Local artist Barry Snyder was one of the artists selected for his “The Door is Ajar” piece. The recycled door is covered in produce stickers that re-create a Kenner Brand pickle jar. The artist is working with the Kenner Company to collect food for a local food bank. The Kuner Company has agreed to match all food donations. Therefore, we are encouraging the community to bring a non-perishable food item when you come to the opening or anytime during the exhibition and help our local food banks.
