Fire Suspect Booked Date:                        04/21/2011       Thomas Howie, DOB: 01/03/75, of Fort Collins, turned himself in to the Larimer County Jail today after an arrest warrant was issued for him for Arson, a class four felony.  Mr. Howie was booked and released on a $10,000 personal recognizance bond. Mr. Howie is alleged to have started the Crystal Fire which ultimately encompassed approximately 2940 acres and destroyed 13 homes.

Investigators from the Larimer County Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Forest Service have determined the Crystal Fire was started by the son of a property owner burning debris at 2394 Granite Road, Bellvue, Colorado. From Larimer County Emergency Informatin The following information update has been made for: Crystal Fire Well hallelujah and better late than never: we have finally gotten some real moisture and more than just enough to make the dirt roads slightly muddy. Greetings folks. Not a great deal to relate but some things of interest. First of all, people near the fire may continue to see smoke for sometime as the mop up process continues. Crystal Fire 100% Contained April 11, 2011   The Crystal Fire is now 100% contained and is considered at full suppression with perimeter control.  This applies to both the main area of the fire as well as the area in Redstone Canyon.  Units continued to mop up today while others patrolled the fire and continued work on the fire line.  Crews will continue mop up operations tomorrow, continuing suppression repair and reinforcement of control lines. Residents in the Crystal Fire area who lost property are asked to call Larimer County Emergency Manager Erik Nilsson to report their loss.  The number is 970-498-5310.  If the number is busy or there is no answer, they should leave a voicemail message with their contact information. The emergency manager is interested in any property loss, houses, trailers, vehicles, sheds, et cetera.
