This year’s event, held Thursday evening at the Loveland Police and Courts Building, honored 39 individuals whose volunteering goes “above and beyond.” Among those selected for this year’s awards were two Berthoud residents, Mark Parsons and Don Keck. Mark Parsons was nominated by Danielle Sullivan, Volunteer Program ... Full Story
9Health Fairs in surrounding communities serve
By Claudia Todd-Young Berthoud will not be hosting a 9Health Fair this year but surrounding communities will be available to serve the local residents who want to participate in the many free and low-charge services that have been provided in Berthoud for over 20 years. The decision not to host the 9Health Fair this year was a difficult decision to make and had to do only with the lack of volunteers. The Berthoud Lions Club has long hosted and organized the 9Health Fair but was unable to ... Full Story

Limiting Berthoud Volunteer Membership?
There are some opinions blowing around Berthoud these days that claim the town needs a voted ordinance that would require a volunteer to have a primary residence within town limits for a year in order to serve on any advisory board or commission, period. I’m worried about this for several reasons. While some statutory requirements exist for commissions such as Planning and Zoning, there are none for other commissions. There’s a good reason for that: Each commission is very different, ... Full Story

Boat rangers educate visitors about regulations, safety, and help with emergencies out on the reservoirs. Boat Ranger volunteers must be able to swim, be willing to work a five hour shift on the boat (option for longer shifts), and have some experience either with boats or law enforcement as well as great customer service ... 9Health Fair a hit
By Claudia Todd-Young Approximately 400 people received free and low-cost health screenings this past Saturday at the 9Health Fair at Berthoud High School. While it doesn’t take a village to provide these services, it does take volunteers from throughout northern Colorado. Over 75 volunteers made this year’s 9Health Fair a reality for those 400 people. This year was the first time the Berthoud 9Health Fair site was able to offer a chauffeured golf-cart ride to the ... Full Story
Berthoud Habitat looking for volunteers and sponsors
Berthoud Habitat for Humanity is looking for volunteers to help with the annual 5K race on June 5. The race committee will meet twice a month until June. The committee organizes the run, gets sponsors, and secures water, t-shirts and bagels. We could really use some help to make this annual fundraising event happen. We are also looking for one, two or four sponsors/partners for the Photo Booth. Berthoud Habitat is planning to have a Free or Donation only Photo Booth at the 5k (Fickel ... Full Story
9Health Fair set for April in Berthoud
2010 marks the 28th year that the 9Health Fair has been hosted in Berthoud. The Berthoud Lions Club sponsors the yearly event with the help of many community volunteers to offer many free and low-cost medical screenings that many Berthoud residents would not otherwise receive. The Berthoud 9Health Fair site typically serves between 400 and 700 people within a 6-hour timeframe. In order to accomplish this, they require the help of 60-75 volunteers. Doctors, nurses, phlebotomists greeters ... Full Story
