Berthoud Fire Calls: December 2019

Incident Activity Dec. 1 – 8

Sunday, December 1

Berthoud Squad 1 responded to E 3rd Street and E Colorado Avenue
for a medical assist. The patient was with LCSO deputies. The patient was
assessed by TVEMS and cleared.

Berthoud Squad 2 responded to the 800 block of N. County Road 23E for a gas
leak. The homeowner was concerned about a vent hooked up to an old furnace. The
crew used the monitoring equipment, which did not read any elevated percentages
of any kind.

Berthoud Squad 1 dispatched to the 1200 block of Arapahoe Avenue for a
person who had fallen. The crew assessed the patient and care was transferred
to TVEMS. The crew assisted moving the patient onto a cot and loading into the
ambulance for transport.

Monday, December 2

BFPD dispatched to the intersection of Highway 287 and
Horseshoe Lane for a 2-vehicle accident. One vehicle occupant was walked to the
ambulance and transported. The crew stayed on scene to help with traffic
control.

Berthoud Squad 1 responded to the 400 block of Capitol
Avenue for a 30-year-old woman who was sick. The crew assisted TVEMS with
patient care.

Citizen assist to help get a van unstuck from the snow
behind Berthoud Athletic Club.

Tuesday, December 3

Patient walked in to Berthoud Station 1 with breathing
difficulties. The crew obtained vitals and assisted TVEMS with patient
evaluation. The patient chose to drive himself to a hospital.

Citizen assist to the 1600 block of Mount Meeker Avenue to
change the batteries in the smoke detectors.

Berthoud Squad 1 dispatched to the 1400 block of Mount
Meeker Avenue for a 70-year-old woman who was sick. The crew obtained vitals
and transferred patient care to TVEMS upon their arrival. The patient was
transported to a local hospital. The crew secured the home and cleared the
scene.

Berthoud Engine 1 dispatched to the 100 block of Willow
Circle Drive for a medical assist. The crew assisted TVEMS with loading the
patient for transport to a local hospital.

Wednesday, December 4

Berthoud Engine 2 dispatched to the 4800 block of County
Road 4 for a 77-year-old woman having signs of a stroke. The patient was
conscious and alert. The crew assessed the patient  and care was transferred to TVEMS. The
patient was placed on a cot and loaded for transport to a local hospital.

BFPD responded to I-25 mm 250 southbound for a 2-vehicle
accident with light damage. The occupants were assessed for injuries. None were
reported. The crew assisted with traffic control until Colorado State Patrol
arrived.

Berthoud Squad 1 responded to the Berthoud Living Center for
a medical assist.

Berthoud Squad 1 responded to the 1000 block of 7th
Street Place for a lift assist.

Berthoud Squad 1 dispatched to the 200 block of 2nd
Street for a 30-year-old female who was having an allergic reaction. The crew
assisted the patient and transferred patient care to TVEMS. The patient was
transported to a local hospital.

Berthoud Squad 1 responded to the Berthoud Living Center for
a medical assist.

Berthoud Squad 2 responded to the 3400 block of County Road
4 for a lift assist.

Thursday, December 5

Berthoud Engine 1 dispatched to the 18000 block of Weld
County Road 5 for an outside fire. The crew reported fire coming out of the
front of a vapor combustor unit near a control panel at an oil tank farm. The
crew made contact with the site owner who sent out a pump operator. The pump
operator was eventually able to shut off the valve, which stopped the flow and
extinguished the fire. Once the fire was out, the pump operator stated that he
would remain on site to find the source of the leak.

Berthoud Squad 1 dispatched to I-25 mm 249 southbound for a
45-year-old man sick in a vehicle that had pulled off of the road. The crew assisted
the patient. Patient care was transferred to TVEMS. The crew blocked one lane
of southbound traffic and notified Colorado Stated Patrol of this action.

BFPD dispatched to I-25 mm 249 southbound for a 2-vehicle
accident. Squad 1 was 100 yards away from the scene due to a previous incident.
The crew walked to the scene where Colorado State Patrol was attending to the accident
that involved 2 semi-trucks with minor damage. The crew assisted with traffic
control and attended to one patient. Patient care was transferred to TVEMS. The
crew helped load the patient into the ambulance for transport to a local
hospital. The crew cleaned up all fluids on scene from the accident. Colorado
State Patrol called for a tow truck, and BFPD was cleared from the scene.

Citizen assist to the 100 block of E Iowa to assist with
smoke detector replacement.

Friday, December 6

Citizen assist to the 2800 block of Urban Place to assist
with smoke and CO detectors that were activating. The batteries were changed in
the detectors, and the system was confirmed to be working properly.

Berthoud Squad 1 dispatched to the 100 block of 8th
Street for a law enforcement assist. There were open flame heaters left
unattended. The crew, along with LCSO Deputies, turned all 7 units off after
the crew could not reach a responsible party to the building. Once at the
station, the crew spoke to the superintendent of the site to let him know that
unattended open flames were not allowed.

Berthoud Squad 1 responded to the 100 block of Keep Circle
to for a lift assist for transport.

BFPD dispatched to the Berthoud High School for a bomb
threat. The school had been evacuated, and LCSO was on the scene securing the
perimeter. LCSO put together a search team, which included one fire personnel. The
search team cleared the structure with no devices identified.

Citizen assist to the 2100 block of Elmwood Street to
replace smoke detector batteries.

Berthoud Engine 1 dispatched to the 20100 block of SE
Frontage Road for a medical assist. The crew assisted with traffic control and
transferring the patient to the ambulance for transport.

BFPD dispatched to I-25 mm 250 northbound for a motor
vehicle accident. The crew evaluated the occupant of the vehicle for injuries. The
patient did not want further evaluation from TVEMS. The crew assisted with
traffic control and fluids leaking from the vehicle.

Berthoud Squad 1 responded to the 1200 block of Arapahoe
Drive for a 74-year-old woman who had fallen. TVEMS assumed patient care. The
crew assisted TVEMS with prepping and loading the patient for transport.

Berthoud Engine 1 dispatched to I-25 mm 250 southbound for a
3-vehicle accident with heavy damage. All vehicle occupants were outside of the
vehicles. The crew assessed the vehicles for hazards and checked one patient
for injuries. The patient was cleared by TVEMS. Engine 1 stayed on scene to
help with traffic control.

Berthoud Squad 1 responded to the 1400 block of 4th
Street for a lift assist.

Berthoud Engine 2 dispatched to the 500 block of Candice
Court for an 89-year-old woman who was sick. The crew assessed the patient and
transferred patient care to TVEMS upon their arrival.

BFPD responded to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical
assist.

Saturday, December 7

Berthoud Squad 1 dispatched to the 1400 block of Waterman
Street for a medical assist. The crew prepped the cot while TVEMS assessed the
patient.

Berthoud Engine 1 dispatched to the 200 block of Victoria
Street for a CO detector activation. –, the occupants had evacuated. TVEMS checked
on the patients while BFPD began investigation. The crew found no elevated
levels of CO in the home. The crew determined it was a malfunctioning CO
detector due to low batteries. The batteries were replaced, and the system
placed back into normal operation. Engine 1 cleared the scene.

Berthoud Squad 1 dispatched to the 600 block of E. County
Road 8 for a child that was unconscious. TVEMS arrived on scene and assumed
patient care. The patient began to improve. The patient was secured in the
ambulance and accompanied by his father during transport to a local hospital.

BFPD dispatched to the 4600 block of Meining Road for a
residential structure fire. There were visual signs of smoke from the garage. Additional
fire assistance was requested from off duty Berthoud Fire firefighters as well
as Loveland Fire Rescue. The crew staged for fire attack and released two dogs
from their kennels that were in the house. The crew gained access to the garage
for fire attack. The crew gained control of the fire with no further extension
into the house. PVREA was called to check on power and the meter. The crew
began investigation and found the area of origin of the fire. A walk through
was completed with the property owner to help with any questions or
information. The scene was turned back over to the property owner.

BFPD dispatched to the intersection of County Road 8 and
Highway 287 for a 3-vehicle accident. The occupants of the vehicles were
checked for injuries, none were reported. LCSO arrived on the scene and began
investigating. Engine 1 provided traffic control. A tow truck removed the
vehicle from the road, and Engine 1 re-opened the lanes of traffic.

BFPD dispatched to the 4400 block of Hawg Wild Road for a
patient having a seizure. TVEMS was on the scene, and the patient was having a
severe reaction to medication. The patient was placed on a cot and loaded for
transport.

Sunday, December 8

Berthoud Squad 1 dispatched to the 200 block of 2nd
Street for a 70-year-old medical assist. The patient was not alert or oriented.
TVEMS assumed patient care. The patient was carried to a cot and loaded for
transport.

Berthoud Squad 1 dispatched to the 100 block of 49th
Street SW for a 60-year-old man with breathing problems. The crew assisted the
patient and transferred patient care to TVEMS. The patient was transported to a
local hospital for further evaluation.

Monday, December 9

Citizen assist to the 2200 block of S. County Road 23E to help install new smoke detectors.

Citizen assist at Station 1 for a car seat installation.

Tuesday, December 10

Citizen assist to the 1700 block of Gaucho Court to check on a heat smell inside the home. All readings came up negative and normal temperature.

Berthoud Squad 1 dispatched to the 900 block of 7th Street for a 19-year-old female having an allergic reaction. The patient was loaded into the ambulance and transported to a local hospital.

Berthoud Squad 1 dispatched to the 800 block of Jay Place for a 26-year-old male having an allergic reaction. TVEMS established patient care. Patient refused transport to the hospital.

Berthoud Squad 1 dispatched to the 1000 block of Wrangler Way for a medical assist. The crew and TVEMS assisted the patient to her feet and into her home.

Berthoud Squad 1 dispatched to the 300 block of E Michigan for a 36-year-old woman experiencing chest pains. TVEMS assumed patient care.

Wednesday, December 11

Berthoud Squad 1 dispatched to the 300 block of E Michigan for a sick person. The patient was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.

Citizen assist to the 100 block of E Indiana Avenue for smoke detector replacement installation.

Berthoud Squad 1 dispatched to the 4400 block of Rosewood Drive for a sick person. The crew assisted TVEMS in evaluating the patient. TVEMS assumed patient care.

Berthoud Squad 1 dispatched to the 19000 block of S. County Road 1 for a medical assist. The crew assisted TVEMS with loading the patient for transport to a local hospital.

Berthoud Engine 2 dispatched to the 2700 block of Lake Hollow Road for a 71-year-old man with chest pains. The crew began patient assessment and transferred care to TVEMS. The patient was loaded into the ambulance for transport to a local hospital.

Berthoud Squad 1 responded to the 1600 block of Mount Meeker Avenue for a lift assist.

Thursday, December 12

Berthoud Squad 1 dispatched to the Love’s Travel Stop for a 30-year-old female having a seizure. TVEMS assumed patient care. The crew assisted with loading the patient for transport to a local hospital.

Berthoud Engine 2 responded to the 15000 block of N. 95th Street for a medical assist. TVEMS and Longmont AMR were assisting a woman who had been thrown from her horse. The patient was loaded into an ambulance for transport.

Berthoud Squad 1 responded to the 17000 block of Weld County Road 5 for a medical assist. TVEMS established patient contact and took over care.

Berthoud Engine 1 dispatched to the 700 block of Douglas Place for a sick person. The crew assessed the patient and transferred patient care to TVEMS . The crew assisted with loading the patient for transport to a local hospital.

Berthoud Squad 1 responded to the 17000 block of Weld County Road 5 for a patient with arm pain. TVEMS assisted the patient.

Berthoud Squad 1 responded to the 300 block of 8th Street for a lift assist.

Berthoud Engine 1 dispatched to the 22000 block of Weld County Road 5 for a single vehicle rollover accident. The crew located one person who complaining of pain. TVEMS arrived and assumed patient care. Loveland Fire Rescue arrived on the scene and assisted the crew with extraction of the victim from the vehicle. The patient was loaded into an ambulance for transport.

Friday, December 13

Berthoud Squad 1 responded to the 800 block of Schrage Way for a medical assist. TVEMS assumed patient care.

Berthoud Squad 1 dispatched to the 500 block of Mountain Avenue for a 72-year-old man with breathing difficulties. The crew assisted the patient and transferred patient care to TVEMS . The crew assisted TVEMS with loading the patient for transport to a local hospital.

Berthoud Engine 2 dispatched to the 2200 block of Breckenridge Drive for a patient with back pain. The crew assessed the patient and transferred care to TVEMS. The patient was loaded into the ambulance for transport to a local hospital.

Berthoud Engine 2 dispatched to the 4200 block of Lakefront Drive for a patient with breathing problems. TVEMS assumed patient care.

BFPD responded to the 300 block of Mountain Avenue for a 56-year-old woman who had fallen. TVEMS assumed patient care. The crews assisted with loading the patient for transport to a local hospital.

Saturday, December 14

Berthoud Engine 2 dispatched to the 3900 block of Arliegh Drive for a patient in cardiac arrest. The crew began CPR and transferred patient care to TVEMS .

BFPD responded to the 800 block of Mountain Avenue for a medical assist. The patient was loaded into the ambulance for transport to a local hospital.

BFPD responded to the 1000 block of 7th Street for a lift assist.

Berthoud Engine 1 dispatched to the 17000 block of Weld County Road 36 for a sick person. The crew assisted TVEMS with loading the patient for transport to a local hospital.

Sunday, December 15

BFPD responded to the 300 block of 8th Street for a lift assist. 

BFPD dispatched to the 3400 block of Woodcock Street for a fire alarm. There were no visible signs of fire. After further investigation, it was a malfunction with the outside alarm system.

Monday, December 16

Berthoud Squad 2 responded along with TVEMS to the 2100 block of Lamborn Ct. for a 65- year old female medical assist. Patient was loaded into the ambulance for transport to a local hospital.

Berthoud Squad 1 responded to the 1000 block of Wilshire Drive for a medical assist. The patient was a 10-year-old male not feeling well. His parents requested to have him transported to a local hospital.

BFPD responded to the 800 block of Berthoud Peak Drive for a 73-year-old man who was disoriented. TVEMS assumed patient care, and the crew assisted with loading the patient for transport.

Berthoud Fire responded to the 200 block of Sioux Drive for a medical. TVEMS assumed patient care and the crew assisted with loading of the patient for transport.

Tuesday, December 17

Berthoud Squad 1 responded to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical assist.

BFPD dispatched to 42nd St. SE and S. Lincoln Avenue for a 2-vehicle accident. There were no fluids or hazards present. One patient refused medical and transport.

Berthoud Fire dispatched to the 1000 block of Glenview Drive for a traumatic injury. TVEMS assumed patient care at which time the patient was loaded and transported to a local hospital.

Wednesday, December 18

Berthoud Squad 1 dispatched to the 700 block of Mayo Court for a 50-year-old female having a diabetic problem. The crew assisted TVEMS with loading of the patient for transport.

Thursday, December 19

Berthoud Engine 1 responded to I-25 mm 250 SB for an 18-year-old female having a seizure in the back of a bus. TVEMS assumed patient care, and she was loaded into the ambulance and transported.

Engine 2 dispatched to the 900 block of County Road 21 for a 35-year-old woman with chest pains. The crew completed a patient assessment and transferred care to TVEMS. The patient was loaded into the ambulance for transport.

Friday, December 20

Berthoud Squad 1 responded to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical assist.

Berthoud Squad 1 dispatched to the 1000 block of 7th Street for a 79-year-old man who was sick. TVEMS assumed patient care. The crew assisted loading the patient for transport.

Berthoud Squad 1 dispatched to the 18000 block of Weld County Road 3 for a 75-year-old woman medical assist. The crew assessed the patient and transferred patient care to TVEMS. The crew loaded the patient into the ambulance for transport.

Berthoud Squad 1 responded to the Berthoud Living Center for a medical.

Berthoud Squad 1 dispatched to the 200 block of 2nd Street for a patient with breathing problems. The patient was assessed, and her breathing became stabilized. The patient refused transport. TVEMS cleared Squad 1 from the scene.

Saturday, December 21

Berthoud Engine 1 dispatched to the 1000 block of 7th Street for a 73-year-old man who had fallen. TVEMS assumed patient care. The crew loaded the patient into the ambulance for transport.

Berthoud Engine 1 dispatched to the 600 block of 9th Street for a 63-year-old man who was sick. TVEMS assumed patient care. The crew assisted the patient into the ambulance for transport.

Sunday, December 22

Citizen assist to the 500 block of Mount Rainer Street for a smoke detector malfunction.

Berthoud Engine 2 dispatched to the 6000 block of Homer Road for an 81-year-old woman who was sick. TVEMS assumed patient care. The patient walked to the cot and was placed into the ambulance for transport to a local hospital.

Berthoud Squad 1 dispatched to the 3000 block of Auklet Drive for a 76-year-old man who was sick. The patient was loaded for transport to a local hospital.

Incident Activity Dec. 23-29

Monday, December 23

BFPD dispatched to the 2000 block of Mountain River Road for a residential fire. Flames were visible from the home. All occupants of the home had evacuated. The crew made entry into the home where they began to attack the fire in the attic. Another crew applied water from the exterior of the home. The fire was contained to the attic and fully extinguished. The crew remained on scene until the fire investigation was completed.

Berthoud Engine 1 dispatched to the 2000 block of Breckenridge Drive for an 83-year-old woman having diabetic problems. The crew assisted TVEMS with patient care. After the patient became more responsive, TVEMS cleared Engine 1 from the scene.

BFPD dispatched to the 2300 block of TPC Parkway for a 42-year-old man who had fallen off a ladder. The patient was examined by TVEMS. The crew assisted loading the patient onto a cot and into the ambulance for transport to a local hospital.

Berthoud Engine 2 dispatched to the 2300 block of Jones Place for a 64-year-old woman who was not feeling well. TVEMS assumed patient care.

Tuesday, December 24

Berthoud Squad 1 dispatched to the 2300 block of Nicholson Street for a patient with abdominal pain. The crew assisted the patient and transferred care to TVEMS. The patient was loaded into the ambulance for transport.

Berthoud Squad 1 responded to the 600 block of Great Basin Court for a medical assist. The crew assisted TVEMS with patient care and loading the patient for transport.

Thursday, December 26

BFPD responded to the 18000 block of Weld County Road 3 for a patient who had fallen. The patient had been helped up but did have some lacerations. The patient was loaded into the ambulance for transport.

BFPD dispatched to the 200 block of 2nd Street for a patient with breathing difficulties. The crew assisted with loading the patient into the ambulance for transport.

Friday, December 27

BFPD dispatched to the 300 block of 42nd Street SW for a cut gas line. The crew investigated and found a small leak coming from the gas meter. Xcel Energy was notified, and they tightened the gas valve.

Saturday, December 28

Berthoud Squad 1 responded to the 500 block of S. 9th Street for a 50-year-old woman who was sick. The crew assessed the patient and transferred care to TVEMS. The crew assisted TVEMS with walking the patient to the ambulance for further evaluation. The patient was transported to a local hospital.

Berthoud Engine 2 dispatched to the 1400 block of Willow Drive for a carbon monoxide alarm activation. The monitoring equipment found elevated levels of CO. The crew shut off the gas to the home and notified Xcel Energy. Xcel Energy arrived on scene and found a leak coming from the boiler.

Berthoud Squad 1 responded to Apple Leaf Assisted Living for a medical assist.

Berthoud Engine 2 dispatched to the 1200 block of Lakota Ridge Court for a 48-year-old woman with breathing difficulties. TVEMS established patient care. The crew assisted loading the patient into the ambulance for transport to a local hospital.

Sunday, December 29

Berthoud Squad 1 dispatched to the 800 block of Wagon Bend Drive for a medical. TVEMS assessed the patient and escorted the patient to the ambulance for transport to a local hospital.

Citizen assist to the 1500 block of Mount Meeker Avenue to change smoke detector batteries.

Berthoud Engine 1 dispatched to the 2100 block of Ladera Road for a smoke odor. The residence had been evacuated. The monitoring equipment showed no elevated levels in the home or garage. The crew discussed their findings with the homeowners and told them to call back if the smell returned.

Incident Activity Dec. 30-31

Monday, December 30

Berthoud Engine 62 dispatched to the 1200 block of Paramount Drive for a medical alarm activation. The homeowner stated that it was a false alarm and no assistance was needed.

BFPD dispatched along with Loveland Fire to the 3900 block of S. Lincoln Avenue to assist an occupant stuck in an elevator. The crew utilized tools to open the door and freed the occupant who had been stuck in the elevator.

Berthoud Engine 62 dispatched to the 3400 block of County Road 4 for a medical assist. TVEMS assessed the patient and cleared Engine 2 from the scene.

Berthoud Squad 61 dispatched to the 1400 block of 4th Street for a possible stroke victim. The crew made patient contact and obtained vitals. Patient care was transferred to TVEMS. The crew assisted with loading the patient into the ambulance for transport to a local hospital.

Tuesday, December 31

Berthoud Squad 61 responded to the 300 block of Massachusetts Avenue for a medical assist. The crew helped the patient into the ambulance for transport to a local hospital.
