Monday, Dec. 29 A Berthoud woman reported that her ex-boyfriend apparently posted photos of her on a Web site, along with her phone number, and now she is receiving lewd, harassing text messages and photos from people she doesn’t know. The report says that police took necessary action. A woman in the 1000 block of Welch Ave. found a man in her garage. He told her he was at the wrong house and walked off. Police Beat: Jan 1, 2009

Monday, Dec. 22 Someone picked up a loose Golden Retriever type dog at Third St. and Mountain Ave. and called police. The report does not indicate that the owner was located, but it does say that a citation was issued. Police received a call about the welfare of a dog on the porch of a second floor apartment in the 900 block of Seventh St. Police found a second house nearby that also had a dog without shelter. Monday, Dec. 15 A silent holdup alarm that went off at 10 p.m. at a local business got police on the scene quickly, but the business appeared to be closed. Apparently, the owner set off the alarm and has now learned the difference between a holdup alarm and a burglar alarm. Tuesday, Dec.  16 Larimer County Sheriff’s deputies made seven traffic stops on County Road 19 and issued citations to all the motorists. Police Beat: Dec. 18, 2008

Monday, Dec. 8 A young female customer at the Derby Grill left her purse on the back of her chair while she went to the lady’s room and the purse was missing when she returned. A call by a woman that someone had used her credit card at the Conoco Station led to quick action by Berthoud Police. Two and half hours after the call came in, police had an adult male in custody and transported him to the detention facility. Monday, Dec. 1 The Berthoud Parks and Recreation Department reported someone tried to break into the soft drink machines at the facility and the intruders also damaged the fence. Aspen Leaf Kitchens reported someone stole the motor from their dust collector. At 1:15 p.m. a Loveland driver ran into a delivery truck at the NAPA Auto Parts store. Monday, Nov.  24 A Mitsubishi Eclipse was damaged overnight while parked on Redwood Circle. Someone had placed paint all over the car. In another case of criminal mischief, a window was broken out of heavy equipment on the construction site at Sixth St. and Mountain Avenue. A vehicle driving in circles at the high school drew the attention of a passing officer. It turned out to be a mother teaching her daughter how to drive a stick shift. Monday, Nov.  17 The staff at the wastewater treatment plant reported damage to the gate, apparently the result of criminal mischief over the weekend. A Berthoud High School student was at school under the influence of alcohol and was arrested and charged with underage consumption of ethyl alcohol.   Tuesday, Nov.  18 Police found an abandoned motorcycle on Longview Ave. at approximately 10:30 p.m. The cycle was registered to an owner nearby on South Ninth St. No one responded to ... Wednesday, Nov. 5 On an otherwise quiet day the Berthoud Police made eight traffic stops   Thursday, Nov. 6 Police were asked to assist in finding the owner of a truck that had apparently been stolen and was found in Adams County. A few hours later the owner called saying he had responded to a call from Adams County, but they had no record of his truck. Police Beat — Nov. 6, 2008

Tuesday, Oct. 28 Police stopped a car shortly before 1 a.m. for running a stop sign. The driver was intoxicated and refused to take the tests. He was taken into custody without incident, but kicked the officer in the chest while he was buckling the offender’s seat belt and left a footprint on his uniform shirt.
