Crystal Fire suspect booked

Fire Suspect Booked Date:                        04/21/2011       Thomas Howie, DOB: 01/03/75, of Fort Collins, turned himself in to the Larimer County Jail today after an arrest warrant was issued for him for Arson, a class four felony.  Mr. Howie was booked and released on a $10,000 personal recognizance bond. Mr. Howie is alleged to have started the Crystal Fire which ultimately encompassed approximately 2940 acres and destroyed 13 homes.

Arson Investigation March 1, 2011   Larimer County Sheriff's Office deputies were called to Vern's Trailer Park at 4220 West County Road 54G at approximately 10:30 p. m. on Sunday, February 27 on the report of a burning structure.  Deputies worked with the Poudre Fire Authority who extinguished the blaze; however, the trailer was a total loss.  No one was in the home at the time of the fire. Sunday, August 1 A barking dog at 12:25 a.m. resulted in a written warning to its Sixth Street owner. Police stopped a driver at 1:44 a.m. shortly after he left the ramp from First Street to Highway 287.
