George Maxson, 70, passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2016. He was born in La Junta, Colorado on February 24, 1946. George graduated from Wasson High School, Colorado Springs in 1964. He was employed by Safeway where he retired after 34 years. He married the love of his life Margaret (Peggy) Schwab on February 14, 1970. Boom town Berthoud?

Berthoud on the verge of real estate boom? According to a recent article in the Norther Colorado Business Report and a corresponding interview on KUNC radio that is the case. The article says, among other things, that construction will begin on the Safeway store next year, with an opening in 2012. That was certainly news to Mayor Tom Patterson. He has seen no change in conditions that would warrant a change in Safeway's plans and he has certainly not been informed by the company or their agents ... Full Story
